America held her breath last night, gripped by the mind-numbing realization that the government of the people, by the people, and for the people could very well be irrevocably broken. The American people are overwhelmingly against this government takeover of 20% of the economy. Tens of thousands took to the great lawn Saturday, trying to right a government gone off the rails, after a year of similar peaceful actions. And so the focus of the Democrat leadership all through the healthcare takeover, and culminating with a flourish this past weekend, has been on libeling, slandering and destroying the millions of Americans who stand against this socialist putsch.
The peaceful, patriotic millions who marched over the course of the year were virtually ignored by the media and certainly ignored by the President. Big media only deemed fit to cover the people’s revolution long enough to libel them and smear them with vulgarities (“tea baggers“). This campaign of destruction culminated Saturday in the specious charge that a protester shouted “ni**er” at the Congressional Black Caucus. The Washington Post reported:
Members of the Congressional Black Caucus said that racial epithets were hurled at them Saturday by angry protesters who had gathered at the Capitol to protest health-care legislation, and one congressman said he was spit upon. The most high-profile openly gay congressman, Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.), was heckled with anti-gay chants.
Color me skeptical. I am not sure why the Congressional Black Caucus deliberately chose to walk through the crowd as they shouted “kill the bill,” but it sure sounded like a set-up. And if someone had shouted something so grotesque, he was either a plant, an infiltrator, or a freak who attached himself to a group that wants no part of him. If it did happen, this shout in no way reflected the millions of capitalist Americans standing up for their country. I have been to enough of these protests to know. These protesters are the salt of the earth. The best of America, our salvation — if that salvation is to be had.
The media reacted like vampires to human blood, going into a frenzy to use the shout to discredit the whole movement. And the lefty blogs like the Huffington Post (headquarters for Jew-hating incitement to genocide) was epileptic with joy. We’ve been down this road before with the Puff Ho; they have concocted slanders against the tea parties before (watch the Atlas vlog in which I expose them here.)
The only problem with all this was that the charges were false. Video evidence proved that no one shouted “ni**er” or “faggot.” And as for Barney Frank alleging that he was called a faggot — I prefer to call him what he really is, a liar. Where is his outrage at the term “tea bagger”?
All this media excitement was a degenerate tactic to drive the national dialogue away from what is really important (the rout of democracy and the nationalization of healthcare) to a mendacious discussion about the “racist,” “homophobic” “tea baggers.” Janeane Garofalo laid out this strategy in April 2009, when she said that the tea partiers were “a bunch of teabagging rednecks,” adding that “this is about hating a black man in the White House. This is racism straight up.”
Is it a coincidence that after a year of millions marching against this ugly leftist power grab, that on the day before the vote both racist and homophobic slurs were allegedly hurled? Hmm.
Those of us battling the left are used to the libel and slander directed towards us as a means to eliminate the truth of our message by destroying our credibility. The daily drumbeat of lies and smear is so relentless that it has lost its sting. It’s like water off a duck’s back. But for the first time, America is getting a taste of it. Ordinary Americans are being smeared and slandered. And the silver lining here is that the American people will never trust the Democrats or big media again.
Big Media will go down in flames as a result of this. Even when I went searching for a picture of the Capitol lawn yesterday, I could only find images on twitpic and the blogs. The only thing that came up for “D.C. protest” on Yahoo was an unrelated anti-war protest (here). The leftist media was ignoring the huge demonstration of the popular will. That’s how corrupt and criminal the media is.
The Democrats did not practice representative government this weekend. This is tyranny.
As I show in my forthcoming book, The Post-American Presidency: The Obama Administration’s War On America (coming in July from Simon & Schuster), this is no surprise. And more is coming. Americans must stand up for our democratic values now, or lose them.
If this putsch is successful, we will remember. We will remember those who betrayed the republic – both our elected representatives and their media accomplices.

Last night the first seed of true despotism was planted. When it grows, it will lead to violence this nation hasn't seen in a hundred years, it is simply not possible to create a doctor, a nurse, and a hospital bed out of thin air. With the free time in a free country we have left we must, every one of us, get involved with Republican campaigns for the house and senate – NEVER VOTE FOR A DEMOCRAT AGAIN! Even if they voted no on this one, you can bet if they were given something else they would have voted yes.

We must remember that Hitler was elected democratically according to the German constitution (put together with the help of American progressives, who called the Weimer the most democratic constitution ever), and used a series of crisis to keep grabbing more power until the Enabling Act was passed. The Enabling Act changed Germany from a Democracy to a dictatorship, but of course it was tailored and sold as "good for the People". Now the Obama HealthCare act is the American Enabling Act.

It's unbelievable how scared all of you people are! Corporate America is pretty darn resilient and this is by no means a destruction of that. Nor is this a "government takeover" that you all fear so much. The insurance companies are still there and they will remain. The car companies (who have nothing to do with this issue really) will also remain (as long as they make a decent product). We will get our food from the grocery stores that will remain.

My inlaws are Canadian, and have had national healthcare for decades. And at every family gathering, the subject comes up and consumes hours of discussion and argument. I beg to differ that "The only difference between Democrats and Hitler-Mussolini is that there are more of them." They can be elected out of office. They don't have direct control of the military. They also have a lot of constituents (that voted for them) that support what they are doing.

I was at the rally in DC on Saturday and I brought along a friend who happened to be a Democrat (voted twice for GW Bush and voted for Obama). She was overwhelmed by how friendly everyone was, how well behaved the crowd was, etc etc … nothing like the myths perpetrated by the left. As the rally went on she went from crossed-arms to appaulding in agreement. After we returned home I overheard her speaking to a strong leftist on the phone and she was vehemently defending her new position against the Democrats' health care reform bill.

The government has been "interfering" with "free enterprise" since the dawn of this country.
Tax incentives, regulation, etc. Check out the farm bill. This is par for the course. And a lot of these regulations are bad. But a lot are good too.

You have CLEARLY never read the Constitution. The Constitution was written in order to protect us from a powerful government. It was written to specifically restrict the government's ability to restrict us. That's why the Bill of Rights was added.
The federal government is ONLY mandated to provide for our protection – physical protection – and provide for the common welfare (that's well-being, not handouts). Nothing else.
This isn't about the survival of corporations, this is about the survival of our republic! It's also about our own personal freedoms & financial situations. This isn't just bad for corporations & small businesses which will have to close because of this travesty, but for everyone.
They can't be denied coverage, yes that is true. But they will be denied claims, rationed, and counseled to their graves. The bill is intended to produce a single payer system that will make everyone beholden to the government for their very lives. If what this bill is proposing represents such a grand advancement in our lives, why are the very people imposing it on us, exempt from its provisions. They get to keep their cadillac plans and won't operate within the system.
The good news is that the medical tourism industry in India just got a big boost of business.

I understand the frustration; the Tree of Liberty is looking very dry… I don't; however, believe that this is the right course of action. There are several avenues to persue before getting to that. Besides, why fulfill that expectation when we can still beat their ass, via their own tactics.

I am a 63 year old grandmother who attended the "protest" on health care yesterday in DC. A friendlier more courteous group cannot possibly be imagined. I was not, of course, everywhere at once. From what I saw I believe such an act would have immediately been smothered by other tea partiers. It doesn't bother me what these horrible people think of me. It only bothers me that people out there who haven't a clue will believe this swill. Like others, I am proud of my participation, and I know this is only the beginning.

- start from scratch with the court system (all volunteer, of course)
- everyone goes to private school
- assign streetlights and traffic signals to the local neighbors to replace the bulbs
- let the drug companies sell whatever they choose without testing
- endure another recession like the present because banks will be off to the races.

Why is it OK for some for profit insurance company to get between me and my doctor when all they care about is $$$$$$$$$$, but it is not OK for some government bureaucrat to do so? I would rather not have someone worried about $$$$ making any decision about my health care.
The Democrats did vote to socialize health care and now it is time for us to elect a majority to start tearing it apart. Assuming the courts claim it musters Constitutional status, and there aren't ways to repeal the bill, we should insist our new team starve the monstor. One of these things he needs treatment for will likely kill him if he doesn't get it. These decisions are made by bureaucratic panels who control the payments, not by doctors. As to insurance: you do realize the profit margin of insurance companies is around 4%? And the only reason bureaucrats can make the decisions they do is that they can operate on a deficit and pass on debt to future generations.If businesses operated like that, they'd go broke. Has there ever been a gov't. entity that didn't continually justify bigger budgets to take care of employees and more duties that they just had to cover?

Thanks for the link and the info. I read a bit about Dr. Daniels and some articles by Theodore Dalrymple. He definitely has a point. It, however, isn't really relevant because what the bill that just passed enacts is nothing whatsoever like the NHS in Britain. I'm not sure where this idea of a "Government Takeover" has come from but we won't be subject top the same conditions as he describes exist in Britain.
I'm not economist but one explanation for government entities need to grow might be the growing population of our country.

The bill is not "state controlled medicine" so please calm down. Where did you get the idea that the state will control medicine? In the US, the insurance companies are making the decisions by paying for some things and not paying for others. Why, when it's "state run" do you place a bureaucrat between yourself and the doctor, but in our privately run insurance company situation you take the middle man out. It's a fallacy. The middle man exists today and he's called an insurance claims adjuster. Same thing–except that the claims adjuster has a profit incentive. In other words, the claims adjuster is incentivised to NOT pay for your health care because they want to pay out as little money as possible. Ostensibly, the bureaucrat's only incentive would be your well-being and health. (Yes, I know, in a perfect world only. However, I'd prefer to start from the theoretically better position of no-profit-motive rather than the reverse.)
The other thing that I don't understand is why every organization with a budget has to operate as if it were a business. Why is this? It's a hospital's job to make people well and a school's job to make people educated. There is no reason a profit model has to come into play in either situation.
Government organizations can operate "on a deficit" because they have taxpayer funding. They don't have to make a profit. I'm not suggesting they should be able to spend more money than their budgets allow. I'm just suggesting they shouldn't have to operate on a business-centric for-profit model.
What's wrong with that? (And before you call me a socialist or idiot, bite your tongue and try to respond with a level headed, sober argument–this is not just directed at you, RedStater, it's to anyone who might want to respond.)

The initial plan is going to require approximately 100 different agencies to put in place, with the I.R.S. alone requiring 15-16,000 agents for enforcement, so I find the point completely relevant. I understand that the 800 lb. gorilla in the room has always been the overpromising of medicare benefits that were not sustainable, but there is no experience that would lead me to believe that the people in Congress won't go on making the same sorts of promises to whoever has the biggest and wealthiest lobby to contribute to their campaign coffers. (Either party is the same on this point)
