Last Friday, the PayPal accounts for my blog AtlasShrugs.com and my organizations Stop Islamization of America (SIOA) and the Freedom Defense Initiative (FDI) were suddenly and without warning “restricted.” After a recent review of my account, Paypal said that it had been “determined” that I was “currently in violation of PayPal’s Acceptable Use Policy. Under the Acceptable Use Policy, PayPal may not be used to send or receive payments for items that promote hate, violence, racial intolerance or the financial exploitation of a crime.”
Huh?

Hate? Violence? Racial intolerance? Financial exploitation of a crime? SIOA is an advocacy group devoted to defending the freedom of speech, the freedom of conscience and the equality of rights of all people. Atlas Shrugs is a news site and a political blog. I am not responsible for the bad news in the world. I just report on it.
I posted this news at Atlas Shrugs over the weekend and received over a thousand letters of support, along with hundreds of ccs of PayPal account cancellations. The people spoke! I love that.
And so on Monday, a very pleasant and rather deliberately clueless executive named Leslie called me from PayPal to say it was all a big misunderstanding and Atlas would be reinstated (and the subsequent restriction of SIOA and FDI removed also).

Not so fast, Leslie.
I asked her why I had been singled out and who designated me as a hate speech site, and on what basis? Why was Revolution Muslim (which threatened to murder the producers of Comedy Central) allowed to carry a PayPal button on its site? Why were DVDs of the jihadist Imam Anwar al-Awlaki sold at eBay, which owns PayPal? Richard Fernandez of Belmont Club commented:
Now PayPal may have reasons of its own for allowing one and not the other. For considering Pamela beyond the pale but showing consideration for a site whose voiceover, when you get it to it, extols the virtues of sharia law and the desirability of giving your spare wife to a Muslim Brother, and portrays the president in the likeness of the Great Dictator. Who knows but some might agree?
Leslie said she was “unaware of a hate speech designation and would inquire and call me back.”
And so she did.

She said that Atlas Shrugs was mistakenly designated as a hate site while it was “in review.” I then asked her why Atlas Shrugs was “in review” in the first place — PayPal has been linked at Atlas Shrugs since 2005. She did not have an answer. I asked her what recourse smaller websites had, as this is my real concern. My soapbox is pretty big, but what about small blogs? I told Leslie that reinstating me was not good enough. If a site is designated a “hate site,” who decides? Once designated, you have two choices — lose PayPal, or change content. Unfair, mon frere.
Leslie agreed. She said she was going to recommend a third choice, so that one could contest the “hate site” designation before a mandatory choice had to be made of either signing off of PayPal or changing content.
Frankly, I find this weak. PayPal should remove the “hate” designation altogether. If they are going to allow jihadis to raise dough using PayPal, what’s the point of any hate speech designation, anyway?
PayPal seems to know their position is weak, too. Patrick Richardson did a story on this for Pajamas Media, and he reported that:
PJM made repeated requests for comment to PayPal which were not returned. In fact, we were given a non-working phone number as the number for a spokesperson.
It is a victory that they came back crawling, but needless to say, I am not going back to PayPal. I told Leslie that, too. She wished I would reconsider. But no. I am sticking with GPal — the G stands for guns!
The real story is that we stood up, and the weasels backed down. We will fight each battle this way. We will not let them stigmatize us for standing up against Islamic supremacism and its war against free speech and free people.
Hate speech? It’s love speech, baby.

I love your speech, baby.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention Pamela.
We're all doing what we can, and you did the right thing to can PayPal.
Cockroaches, meet sunlight!
Keep up the good fight, Pamela.
And what Charles did to you on LGF was disgraceful.
boycott pay pal. we need to add regulations on them no freedom of speech no pay pal fine them every day until they break and keep the boot heel on their necks isnt that how dems get what they want.
Thanks Pam, I've just created a Gpal account as well.

Charles and the LFGers have become quite strange dudes. A complete 180.
ain't nothin' free…
Particularly the free exchange of thoughts and ideas in this climate. The Left is in power, and is flexing their long dormant muscles. Which ALWAYS includes restrictions on conservative speech. Anything logical, in other words.
It has happened before. Remember the 'Fairness Doctrine'? It existed for decades. And THOSE people were better Americans than the current crop; they didn't openly advocate a socialist world union. Face it, this bunch isn't going away quietly…
I've been following this on Atlas Shrugs and I say good for you, Pamela. Keep turning the screws on PayPal until they come clean on who at PayPal made this decision and who put them up to this. Time to name and shame.
So much for my Pay Pal account. Looks like they're going to go away, kicking and screaming in pain….. We'll, if that's what they want….
Paypal: The Jihad Friendly Financial Website
Companies like Pay Pal are afraid to stand up to the Islamic Extremists (am I allowed to say that?) Afraid that the executives and other employees will receive death threats. Rather than taking a stand against these cowards they go after people that tell the truth. I will never use Pay Pal or eBay again.
Thanks for the great column Pamela.
Let me add Paypal to the list of businesses I refuse to patronize:
1. Citgo
2. Progressive Insurance
3. Starbucks
4. Paypal
I used to check that blog out all the time, if for no other reason the multiple links that are constantly updated by members. But not anymore, those people are nuts. It's like some weird sort of Johnson Cult. What ever he spouts his fan base falls all over each other praising his god like intellect.
Good riddance. I'm looking for intelligent debate, not lemmings.
To quote Rush, well you just said it.
I've only used Pay Pal once and I couldn't stand it. Having thoroughly enjoying one of Bill Whittles essays I decided to leave $20 in his tip jar, and I think they charged me $5 and change for the transaction.
20+%? Screw them.
Almost everyone who used to be there left over a year ago… Now they are at http://www.blogmocracy.com and table9chat.com (or both)
Awesome! I posted a comment on this article at your blog, but will repeat the sentiment here. As a small blogger, just starting out, who has also taken a stand against the Islamization of the USA, I know it's just a matter of time before I start getting designated as "hateful." There's no way I'm going to try and get subscriptions via PayPal knowing that, if and when I start getting successful, I'm going to have to modify my opinions to please a third party. Why blog in the first place, if not to have MY opinion be heard?
Add me to the list of people who have canceled with PayPal. And, at every opportunity provided by the website's cancellation process, I made SURE to tell them why.
I can't help but feel PayPal backed down when – and ONLY when – they started getting volumes of cancellations and objections. There's no way my plight, were I in a similar situation, would have met with the same response.
Like you, I'm all for the freedom of a business to conduct itself how it chooses and set its own policies. But, also like you, I feel I have the same rights, and choosing not to do business with a company that would deny strongly-worded, but peaceful, speech while supporting a site like Revolution Muslim, isn't interested in my right to freedom of speech at all. Therefore, I'm not interested in giving them my business or my money.
Keep up the incredibly important and muchly appreciated work, Pamela.
You absolutely rock and the truth you trumpet is the unadorned reality of today's world.
STAY STRONG!!
Some idiot Leftist probably complained about the sites. That is the only reason the site would have been put "in review". Once in that status, someone at PayPal then reviews it (and you know their personal political views come into play at that point) and they mark it as acceptable or non-acceptable. There are no checks by others to verify that person's decision is correct until the person who's site was effected contacts them to challenge the decision.
When the History of our Time is written – The Victory of Freedom over Jihad Islam – Pamela Geller will be a Great Name among the Heroes of Liberty honored for Courage in confronting Ultimate Evil….
….PayPal will be one more sorry-ass corporation condemned for Cowardice….
What idiots!!! Pam is the one fighting AGAINST intolerance as Islam sheerly and absolutely defines it– and they are trying to say SHE is intolerant? Well then PayPal is INTOLERANT of Pamela who they say is "intolerant" because she SPEAKS THE TRUTH about the "intolerant" followers of Islam. Apparently PayPal execs have zero knowledge about Shariah law and Islam. This world is completely insane — NOW I'VE SEEN IT ALL.
I would have boycotted Paypal in support, but I tried their crappy offerings just one time some years ago, and ran away from their horrid service as fast as I could.
Pay Pal and EBay. They refuse to handle firearm transactions because "guns mean violance".
But, Pay Pal allows transactions by and for murderous, right wing, fundamentalist fanatics (provided they are psychopathic murderers who might look them up and kill them). But Pay Pal and EBay don't want anyone to have firearms to protect themselves.
Anyone that uses Progressive is the same anyone that thinks Barry is NOT a Pancisila-stealth agent.

Welcome to Corporatist America boys and girls.
Corporatism is where companies (usually big ones) roll out policies that Governments want to but don't have the guts to impose on the people.
Thanks for the post Pamela. Businesses that chose to follow the path of PayPal & Comedy Central are starting to realize how costly it is to do so.
I wasn't aware of GPal and am effectively closing my PayPal account and moving. I've never like PayPal's stance on firearms anyway but they were the only game in town.
Furthermore, my firm helps tons of people set up their website to accept payments. I just did my research and will now be recommending GPal to all our clients in the future. And for those who can stand a little website down-time, we will be replacing PayPal payments buttons when approved.
See how the free market works there PayPal?
'spose these policies were established by Meg Whitman (R?!) who founded E-Bay, and is financing her campaign for California governor with the great personal wealth that resulted? Some choice, California: the Queen of the Great Junque Exchange, or Governor Moonbeam ! I'd say "I feel your pain", but I think I'd have to give up a few IQ points for it to be true ! I do feel sorry for our California friends here at Breitbart; I doubt they are responsible for this!
I'm canceling my paypal account no matter how manys oooppps they mutter. I'll find another way to pay.
I must say, I am very impressed with how you handled this situation. I do not believe that I would have been able to resist my baser instincts had a private company attempted to attack me in such a manner. As far as Islam goes for those who seek peace, we shall guard it together; for those who seek war, you will find death.
Excellent Pam. Islam will not dominate USA Americans in my lifetime. Sharia "Law" can KISS MY ARSE.
And President Make.Believe? You can kiss it too. Get your sledgehammers ready Folks.
Paypal and especially it's parent company eBay really need to be spanked hard. I am an owner of intellectual property and eBay makes me jump through hoops in order to have counterfeit copies of my property removed from auctions. They make ME jump through hoops while protecting those selling the illegal merchandise. Have you seen how much counterfeit, copyright violating and stolen merchandise is available for sale at eBay? and eBay MAKES MONEY on each of those transactions and listings. Isn't that considered facilitating fraud or trafficking in contraband and stolen merchandise? And yes, I've spoken to some of the brain trust at eBay (apparently the same at PayPal) and believe me, they could not care less. The worst part is that a person like myself, who has his creative work stolen, that I've invested time and money into, has to spend time policing their site instead of eBay having to ensure that their members are selling legit merchandise. They are a Fortune 500 company. How can they be allowed to collect money from the sale of so much counterfeit, copyright violating, and stolen merchandise?
That guy in the second photo is like my favorite muslim ever! He's just misunderstood.
Hopefully, he's already been fixed by some of our fine armed forces therapy.
Mecca is the most sacred site of Arabian paganism. Islam is a revival of the ancient Moon-god-Sin, it has proved itself to be a seperate and antagonistic religion which had sprung up from idolatry. 360 gods worshipped at the kabah, the moon-god was the chief diety. The cresent moon is the symbol of Islam, placed on flags, mosques, minarets. Allah is a pagan diety. All religions do NOT worship the same God.
I think you mean http://www.theblogmocracy.com/
that's right… thanks…
No, it was almost certainly CAIR or one of their sockpuppets, as part of their "lawfare" campaign to silence anyone who speaks out about the Jihad. Certainly it was CAIR who crowed about Pam's de-listing in a press release and on their website; and it is an interesting fact that PayPal announced not long ago that it had been the recipient of an "unusual" lawsuit. I can guess what was "unusual" about it- a demand that PP censor all anti-jihad websites.
Thanks to everyone here who bombarded PayPal with indignant e-mails. We got therr attention.
THE PEOPLE!
UNITED!
WILL NEVER BE DEFEATED!! <smirk>
Well, that validates my longtime hatred of PayPal. What a pain!!! I've lived without it for seven years but just barely got it active again – well, that didn't last long enough for a single purchase, lol. How ridiculous. It reminds me of how, during the Prop. 8 battle of November 2008, Facebook banned my pro-Prop. 8 blog's URL from chat, deeming it an inappropriate site. Inappropriate my foot!!! Just because those who disagreed marked it as hate speech. Lame.
Anyways, way to stick to your guns, Pamela! Keep up the good work!
Yes they are evil, almost all people who sell weapons on Gunbroker.com refuse to use their service as a form of payment. They are staunchly anti-gun, and apparently pro-Terrorism as well, the two must be connected. Hyphothetical: "If Americans have guns then they might fight back against their enemies, like our Muslim friends! We cannot stand for this!"
Yea it was a shame, I wanted Naritelli, but nobody is THAT awake in CA. Here in San Diego, our elections go great, for the most part. The state is our complete opposite, oh well, I am leaving as soon as it is economically feasible. It's hard to leave such a beautiful place, but that's the only quality(Weather being part of it) it has left and the Liberals are certainly destroying the aesthetic anyway.
Once a snake reveals that it is a snake, you can be sure it is a snake…There is every reason to believe that if a snake bites you once, it is likely to bite you again…There is only two things to do with a snake…kill it, or get away from it…in the case of Pay Pal, Pamela did the right thing to get away from it…
Add me to the list of PayPal cancellations. I am fed up with the muzzling of conservative free speech in this country.
He seemed a bit uncomfortable about us Conservatives flocking to his site, but I sure did not expect him to go so looney tunes.
I stopped checking LGF over 2 years ago. Recently went back, and saw how he went on a whiny smearfest on HotAir's AllahPundit, due to AP not having "given him the proper credit" for breaking the Reuter's recent photoshop of the gaza blockade incident. Truly a petulant, self-absorbed child.
I remember when LGF used to have 6-7 minute windows for registration, due to popularity and trolls, now he's so desperate, he's got open registration.
Just goes to show that it's going to be an uphill fight. But if that's what it takes, then that's what it takes. They started this.
We'll finish it.
I have cancelled MY PayPal account as well.
It's what you might call a Muslim tea party.

Well, now that Pamela has fired PayPal, they no longer have a reason to communicate with her, much less tell her whose stupid idea this was.
Wal-Mart has been on my list for over 20 years.
And God is greater than allah.
Whitman didn't found eBay. Also the sale of PayPal to eBay is in no way a Whitman decision. Fact sure do suck don't they?
A very good site to know just how bad Paypal is.

I just closed my PayPal account.

the left operates under the delusion that the radical islamists will grant them an exemption for their appeasement, when in reality, they will be the first to die…
on the street that's called a "fence" and they'd be in jail…
I think the editor of my blog back in the day put it best. Modern liberal who suffered a brief bout of patriotism following 9/11.
Canceling my PayPal account today! Go Gpal! Thanks for the article…The info shared is invaluable!
Thanks Pamela! You're an inspiration to us all! By not taking FayePal's intolerance and outright censorship of conservative ideals lying down, you proved their hypocrisy by them shutting down your blog as being so called "hateful", while completely ignoring radical Islamic blogs that really do exercise hate and plots of world domination on a daily basis. God bless you, Madam!
Islam will dominate the world if Obama-bin-liar in chief has his way.
Pam, I live in England but I avidly follow what you say.
I should think PayPal did lift its unjust suspension. I have heard that the owners are Leftwing. Perhaps that is the reason why they do not like what they consider rightwing opinions. Although why the truth is considered rightwing I don't know.
I wish you all the luck in the world and thank you for speaking out.
Great work Pamela. I bet its not just PayPal that is sitting up and taking notice.
Importing millions of Muslims whose religion compels them to annihilate any society that is not Islamic, and then giving them a free pass in all they do, is yet more evidence that the West, or at least its elite, have a death wish. I don't mind if they do, but I do mind, that as drivers of the bus, they wish to take the rest of us with them.
Tolerance is the virtue of the man without convictions.

All these Sharia Law Kookaburra ,(for you Libaturds ,That is a Flying Jackass Aurstralian Killfisher) , How about a little R&R at the PORKY-SPORKIN RANCH .
Without knowing anything other than what Pamela stated above, I'd be willing to lay odds that PayPal received static and "lawsuit noise" from CAIR. CAIR uses litigation and threats of litigation to silence critics (of even very mild criticism) of Islamicism. Anyone interested in fighting Islamicism (that is, fanatical interpretations of Islam – I'm not bum-rapping "all Muslims") who is not familiar with this and other CAIR tactics, can brush up by checking archives at DanielPipes – dot – org (there are several other very good relevant sites, but I don't recall the URLs offhand – most will likely be listed on Dr. Pipes' site). Pipes has called CAIR's bluff on legal threats a few times, and always beats them in court — but CAIR has unlimited resources, and they can wear most less hardy souls down.
