In Katie Connolly’s article “Fake ACORN Pimp Arrested in Attempt to Bug Senate Office” of January 26th, 2010, Mrs. Connolly twice referred to an attempt to “bug” Sen. Landrieu by James O’Keefe and three other conservative activists in New Orleans. Aside from the reference to an “attempt to bug” in the headline, Connolly furthers the meme here:
It’s unclear what the bugging was intended to prove, or why Mary Landrieu was the target.
There are no allegations of any attempt to “bug” or wiretap Sen. Landrieu in the FBI affidavit, and a law enforcement official has conceded that the four men were not attempting to wiretap or intercept calls. Furthermore, legal representation for the accused has gone on record stating there were no intentions to wiretap.
We kindly ask you to issue a correction/retraction to the story.
We have been/will be making similar requests of other news sources to correct similar errors. Some, such as the Washington Post and MSNBC’s David Shuster, already have posted corrections or retractions.

I see the media is still putting the spin on things. I guess this example is a major reason why the alphabet network rating are falling deep into the Crapper!
I hate Newsweek! It's so vapid. I'm not the least bit surprised that they would run such an erroneous story. A news weekly shouldn't be forgiven as easily as a nightly news program or a daily newspaper or blogger because they supposedly have a little more time to fact check. Fact checking within hours after this story broke, simply reading the affidavit would have sufficed. They are either terrible at journalism or deliberately lying through their teeth. Most likely both.
Newsweek is now little more than political boilerplate – in this article, written by head CFR stooge trying to get Americans to die for Israel, false claims are made about Iran's legal nuclear program. As you can see from the comments, they aren't fooling the people like they used to!

Our entire judicial system is based on a fairness and accuracy. Our media institutions are based on fairness and accuracy. If you dont give a shit about charges, then you have tyranny. Apparently, as an Obama supporter, you don't mind being lied to by the media-or by your messiah.
Well, we say it wasn't wire tapping because in fact it wasn't wire tapping. See how easy that is when you're telling the truth? The MSM is trying to make it more than it is. We're not saying that they haven't done something wrong. We're just saying that it was not wiretapping. What they were trying to do was simply film the receptionist not answering calls from constituents and that is a whole lot different than someone going in to bug telephones.
Winner of the non-sequitur of the day…

Yes, but don't we all know what we're getting with Newsweek by now?
I want "Bat Boy", I read The Weekly World News; I want inaccuracy and left-wing spin, I read Newsweek.
Is Newsweek trying to walk a fine line here by saying that "bug" isn't necessarily phone related? Or that to "bug" could be to secretly record, which could be what Mr. O'Keefe was trying to do?
This is typical of the left-wing media to say something that is defamatory yes could be said to be somewhere near the truth. ie. the harshest way to characterize a conservative. Would they ever characterize a liberal's actions like this? Nah.

Next time, he should state clearly: "our goal is to lure MSM to make stupid mistakes." I guarantee that even after this statement they will fall the same trap.
Once, a high school math teacher I am familiar with, gave to a weak class a test, and wrote the solutions on the blackboard together with the problems themselves (so it would be enough just to copy them from the blackboard).
Interestingly, the grades weren't much higher than usual. I think this is the staff most of the journalists are made from.
