Next time, he should state clearly: "our goal is to lure MSM to make stupid mistakes." I guarantee that even after this statement they will fall the same trap.

Once, a high school math teacher I am familiar with, gave to a weak class a test, and wrote the solutions on the blackboard together with the problems themselves (so it would be enough just to copy them from the blackboard).
Interestingly, the grades weren't much higher than usual. I think this is the staff most of the journalists are made from.

Is Newsweek trying to walk a fine line here by saying that "bug" isn't necessarily phone related? Or that to "bug" could be to secretly record, which could be what Mr. O'Keefe was trying to do?

This is typical of the left-wing media to say something that is defamatory yes could be said to be somewhere near the truth. ie. the harshest way to characterize a conservative. Would they ever characterize a liberal's actions like this? Nah.
