In an interview with Andrew Breitbart last week on MSNBC, David Shuster asserted that Mr. Breitbart hired the private investigator who uncovered the dumped documents outside of a San Diego ACORN office (exchange begins approximately 4:30 into video):
November 23, 2009, you reported that ACORN had been involved in an obstruction of justice because a private eye that you hired went to the ACORN offices in San Diego and found lots of documents.
At no point did Mr. Breitbart hire the private investigator who uncovered the ACORN documents dumped in San Diego.
Additionally, Mr. Shuster suggested that the documents uncovered from the dumpster at ACORN San Diego did not contain sensitive information:
When people actually looked at the documents, let’s see, they were documents of old fliers, food stamp applications, canvassing forms…
As has been well chronicled at BigGovernment.com, Private Investigator Derrick Roach found privacy-protected documents in the ACORN dumpster, including but not limited to credit reports, mortgage loan information, and bank customer records. As Mr. Roach pointed out in his initial post at BigGovernment.com:
The laws governing how sensitive, personal information such as social security numbers, driver’s license numbers, immigration records, tax returns, etc. must be treated are very stringent, and thus it seems as if ACORN may have committed serious violations in that department alone, with thousands upon thousands of potential plaintiffs.
Given this information, it is clear that Mr. Shuster misrepresented the facts in regards to the ACORN document dump by intentionally highlighting only certain documents while ignoring other relevant ones.
We respectfully ask that Mr. Shuster issue a correction/retraction.

Retracto – BITE that clown Shuster!
Then stand over him and GET THAT RETRACTION!!!
I held high hopes for BigJ.
Now, separate for the jeering throng who snipe with verbal pitchforks, even Andrew seems to have gone over the top.
I am sad: go "pro-life" go! ….Lady in Red
Retraction request? MSNBC?
I wouldn't hold my breath Andrew.
For what it's worth, you all know who I am. I have interacted since day one on Biggovernment, and really had some high hopes when you all started BigJournalism. To tell you the truth, it hasn't lived up to my expectations. ( Not that I'm a qualified critic, but I know marketing) I know what works, and what doesn't. Presently, this doesn't appear to be working all that well. Just as Biggovernment has its own editor, so does this site. In business Andrew, somwtimes it is easy to get busy, and not pay attention to detail, and people tend to build their own personal fifedoms, and any little criticism threatens them.
contd.
Personally, you want to get taken serious with your "Big" sites? I'd change that "Retracto the correction Alpaca" nome de plume. That's about the dumbest friggen thing I've seen in a long, long time. It's akin to CBS trying the news years ago with two anchors. Real Bad idea. You boys have too much good going on, to detract from it with stupid crap. You can, and have made a difference. I don't know what those close to you are telling you, but someone is screwing up.
If you want to be taken serious, be serious.
Retraco rules!
It was painful to watch Andrew trying to make his points. I agree he needs to evaluate his staff and his role in making appearances on the libtard media. I think you are giving him sound advice.
Keep it up Andrew! The left is losing the last little bit of credibility with the public. You’re a patriot.
That clip was my first, and hopefully last, time I've ever seen this Shuster. What an *&^%&.
Andrew: I agree with Cowboy Logic–what's up with the Alpaca? I don't even know if Dennis Miller gets the reference.
I like the site, but think that it has more recently been posting stories of a less "journalistic" basis.
TOO FUNNY…!
Time for a "Styx" redux…!
It must be a slow newsweek……………..
You know I was wondering the same thing.
Then again Andrew got to go onto the enemies show and remind his viewers that the person that they get their news from has been smacked down by his bosses for being factually inaccurate more than once.
That little tantalizing bit might get some of those viewers to start checking into what actually happened that got Shushter in trouble with his boss in the first place. It also pokes serious holes in Shuster's credibility if he had any to begin with I've seen that guy eaten for lunch by more than one person in the media.
While I kind of agree that Retracto is a bit edgy, I'm glad someone is calling for retractions it doesn't happen often enough and each time a paper or news outlet gets away with creating a fake story line it hurts our cause.
Someone's got to do it and if Retracto is the only one who will stand up and spit in the eye of these liars than so be it.
i've been wanting to watch this clip all day – and finally did. i felt like i was watching two brothers arguing after too much wine during dinner. i'm still hopeful for BigJ, and believe that it can find its stride, clarify its vision and clear its voice.
Still pining away for the SPCA model to be used on human babies? I feel your pain. /s
Wondering about the mass suicides that aren't happening. You know … the ones committed by all those kids for whom 'death would be better' (your words). One would think they'd take that easy way out after their mistaken birth, wouldn't one?
I'm not sure what high hopes a person with your abject immorality could have, but I'm sure you'll find something to enjoy somewhere on the web. It's a big place and supports all kinds. And I'm not sure why anyone would feel the least bit troubled by your 'disapproval'. Heck, I'd call it reason to celebrate.
Retracto is a big hit in the conservative blogosphere. He serves a dual purpose. To amuse while pointing out the MSM's perfidy. This is a radical place, actually. It goes against the status quo. Being too serious will get it no notice at all.
My complaint is the typo virus. Misspelled words, typos, nonsensical sentences. This is where the Bigs can look amateurish. Not in clever character creations. Those are just attention getters. But once you've got their attention and you're making your point, it needs to look like a finished product and not a first draft.
I like Retracto and think something like this is needed. Media Matters is constantly all over Fox pointing out any "inaccuracy." Journalists need to be held accountable and no one has been doing that, until now.
Let's see how he responds to this.
Mr Breitbart…………Why can't you sue Schuster for making false statements on TV. Ed Schultz also is doing the same injustice. I really give you credit. Had that been me in the interview, would have walked………..
No, Mousie, lady. I never wish death. I cherish life.
At the same time, I do not live in a bubble of un-realities.
And, sadly, I know a trash species — like rats, kudzu, roaches — when I see one. Man is out of balance with nature,
with God. We will get that right — because we are smart, thoughtful, caring — or God will get it right, for us.
We are always with God. ….Lady in Red
I think Shuster should have his tongue ripped out of his head. What a moron!!!!!! He reminded me the women on the "view". Blah blah blah blah. It's no use interacting with imbeciles like him.
Karma is a bitch and Karma is getting very annoyed with these idiots. The truth will surface, one way or another.
[...] Retraction Request: MSNBC’s David Shuster [...]
Time to ride in with my .02 cents worth…
Retracto is no different than Stage Right, Mr. Wrestling, Schizoid Man, and any of a number of bloggers that have charmed us with their sagacity…
And he is doing protracted, difficult work…
Look at the O'Keefe story…how many retractions did the alpaca have to force out from the Lame Stream Media…? Days and days of it slowly spilling out…?
And the O'Keefe story is just ONE of hundreds the LSM pumps out everyday…!
The poor guy is literally doing yeoman's work against the Lame Stream Media tidal wave with a plastic beach pail and shovel…
You all might want to consider cutting him some slack…and throw him some props and love for the job he does…
that must mean breitbart sites are a success
Not that Retracto needs my input, but the Minnesota Independent could certainly use a friendly correction nudge:

In the spirt of the citizen journalist, why don't you go ahead and reach out?
Funny, the AP, CBS News, TIME, TPM, Times-Picayune, HuffPo etc. etc. etc. seem to take Retracto seriously.
It's not a matter of being taken seriously. It's a matter of this site being overtly obnoxious. Just send them an e-mail and request the corrections. Constantly updating this site with public notices is
That's something we ALL should do…fact-check the locals, and peel their hair back over mistakes…
GREAT IDEA, A.M….wish I had thought of it…
Hold on, Retracto…the calvary's comin' over the hill…
