In the article “O’Keefe: ‘I’d do it again’,” published June 1st on CNN’s “Political Ticker,” it is alleged that James O’Keefe and three activist colleagues attempted to tamper with the phones in Sen. Mary Landrieu’s New Orleans offices:
The conservative videographer who plead guilty to entering federal property under false pretenses following an attempt to tamper with Sen. Mary Landrieu’s office phone system says that if given the chance, he’d do it again.
O’Keefe and company pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor crime of entering a federal building under false pretenses. As Patterico pointed out in a similar correction request to New York Magazine issued last week, “the government couldn’t prove that he attempted to tamper with the phones in Landrieu’s office — which is why the charges were reduced to the far less serious misdemeanor charge.”
We kindly ask CNN to issue a formal correction.

the only tampering with phones was done by the senator's staff, so they wouldn't have to answer them.

yes, its very important to fight every challenge to the truth. America do not get to this point by a gaint sweeping revolution, but step by tiny step. Each one seemingly insignificant, but over time adding up to the near total infestation of every facet of society by the progressives.
Think of it this way, a few years from now when O'Keefe, the Bigs, conserv radio get lined up in front of das FCC commissar, the "evidence" against them will read "….and here we have CNN reporting that…"

Funny thing CNN (yeah, I'm talking to you), but if this has been "The liberal videographer" James O'Keefe and had been jailed for doing this to a Republican, you'd be holding him up like he was Che.

It's only because 'they are about hard news' (!) and 'not opinion based' (!!) that the network is not celebrating it's 30th anniversary with more fervor. Poor Campbell Brown. She left the network with a brief bit of honesty- "no one was watching my show" she rightly claimed.
There are a multitude of reasons. But none of them are the lie that it is 'fact and news based'. CNN has been a left wing enterprise for years (remember Peter Arnett?) led by the Progressive/left Ted Turner. But, blind to the truth that they are,

Robob, you are dead on correct! This has been going on for years, one small lie, rumor, insinuation or omission of fact at a time. There are still plenty of people in this country that get their news from the LSM, and buy into their version of the truth. This kind of disinformation must fought at all levels and the truth revealed. Americas complacency about being lied to must be countered with the hard, unvarnished and unspun facts.

Sad situation.
For many years now, the MSM has been using circular reporting to justify their positions instead of independantly verifiable facts. If unchallenged, you could certainly expect one day someone on say MSNBC, or perhaps even in front of a Congressional hearing, to reference the CNN report.
Its sad that it takes such effort to refute one single falsehood. Their supply of them is endless. The final winning strategy will be to get to a place where their credibility will become so low, that people simply stop listening to them at all. The moves from the FTC and FCC and talk of newspaper bailouts show that its starting to work. We cannot let them end run the consequences of their shameless lies.

Still want to know why you're not going after users of the phrase 'break-in'. It's a pretty loaded term that implies far worse than what occurred. Nothing was broken and the intent was not criminal. google/twitter search 'o'keefe break-in ' and see that false memes are being spread

These so-called new outlets wouldn't want a little thing called the truth getting in the way of a good story. The fact is that if O'Keefe had been a liberal, there would be no story because his actions would've been A-ok to the liberal base. The real story is however, not about James and what he and his friends did, but about the reason they felt the need to go there in the first place: because of a corrupt senator who refused to answer her phones knowing her constituents were pissed about her accepting a bribe. The bright light of truth needs to be focused on Landrieu and not O'Keefe. Not one of these liberal news sources seems to be outrages or concerned about Landrieu did.

Yesterday, I read a report that Obama's crowd began doing a study on what amounts to a bailout of the MSM – their PR Firm – a couple of years ago.
In my opinion, that just might help explain the cowtowing and heavy lifting the MSM has been doing for Obama for that same time period. Readership of paper news is way off in most places. And I believe that cable has made some pretty strong inroads against the networks.
If the owners thought they could get a nice, fat paycheck from the Dems, they would order their editors and reporters to kiss Obama's feet every day.
