Acronyms seem to be more popular than ever. The President is the POTUS, his teleprompter is the TOTUS, and the Supreme Court is the SCOTUS. The media should have its own acronym, so I have the perfect plan.

There are many ways to describe the media in America in its current state, most seem to fit pretty well. Most common is the Mainstream Media. The MSM acronym fits. I like it, it works and most people know what it means. I know the reference here is that they are mainstream with their own leftist ideas, but, there is nothing “mainstream” about the current state of the media in this country. In fact, it is far from the mainstream. The American media hates the mainstream when they protest against excessive federal spending and a loss of Constitutional values. The media ignores the mainstream when it figured out that global warming is nothing more than fraud. The media has long since left the mainstream in this country (Fox News being the exception) and they have become a radical arm of liberal politics.

I have used the phrase, Activist Old Media at times just because it fits with their agenda, but witness the children at MSNBC. You don’t have to be old to be wrong. That’s the kid network. At just 14 years old it is young and pubescent and likes it that way. Someday it may grow up, but until then we will watch and laugh and be amused at its adolescent behavior.

“Drive-by media” is also popular, and it fits. Rush Limbaugh gets credit for this one. They pull up to a scene, fire their misguided shots, still do plenty of damage, then drive off to the next scene as if the first one never happened, then wake up the next day to do it all over again.  Rush has since moved on to “State-Controlled Media,” which is also a propos.

I’m going with a new one. Not sure if it’ll stick, but I like it still the same. Leftist Activist Media Boobs, or LAMBS. I would call them sheep, but sheep are more mature and tend to be independent. “Lambs” seems much more appropriate.

I watched for 30 years in newsrooms while the LAMBS came to work in the morning, opened the papers, saw the stories and the angles that those papers had, then repeated the same thing on the evening news. The herders in the front office loved it this way. Baaaaaaaaaaaa.  Baaaaaaaaaaaa.

I can hear Charlie Gibson of ABC laugh about the ACORN scandal of 2009 and joke that he didn’t “even know about it.” This was two weeks after the story had broken. Charlie hadn’t read it yet in the New York Times. Silence of the LAMBS in this case.


I can watch for three or four years how the LAMBS followed each other around the field as they covered the Valerie Plame “scandal” in the Bush White House. Think about this story for a moment. This is ALL they had on the Bush White House and they flogged it at every turn. When David Shuster falsely reported that Karl Rove would be indicted, they all followed. LAMBS. Then after a federal investigation and the story finally flamed out, it was dropped and forgotten. The Leftist Activist Media Boobs had left the grass dry and barren and it was time to move on to a more fertile field. Baaaaaaaaaaaa.

I watched the LAMBS follow each other on global warming because Al Gore led them to the great green field to partake. The British media have told the American LAMBS that the story is a fraud, but they want no part of that. This Green grass is good and fills the belly, for the moment, at least. By the way — LAMBS also tend to be nearsighted.

I watched the Barack Obama election. Tell me you didn’t see what I saw. LAMBS night after night after night on the evening newscasts and in the morning papers. They could care less whom they were following, they just mimicked what their fellow LAMBS were doing, knowing at some point they would be led to another field to enjoy a fresh crop of hope and change and life was good. Baaaaaaaaaa.

Listen, I wish this were not the case. I wish there were real, critical thinking with the Leftist Activist Media Boobs these days, but it’s hard to find. Occasionally a “black sheep” asks a question, or does a story that does not fit with what the rest of the LAMBS have chosen to devour that day. They are removed and show up on the Fox Business Network. (Sorry John Stossel, you just don’t belong on this field with the rest of the LAMBS, you find another field on the back forty).

LAMBS love conventional wisdom. It’s all they know, it’s all they want. It’s what they’ve been raised for. They are domestic livestock. They have poor depth perception and like their cousin, the goat, they’ll eat just about anything. They are raised primarily for their wool and they will eventually all be fleeced. The internet has a pretty sharp set of sheers.
