Working in the media for almost 30 years means that I have a lot of good leftist friends. Now that we all keep in touch on Facebook, I end up with a pretty lively page sometimes. We rarely find common ground politically, but when we do, it’s a wonderful thing. I think we’ve made a connection on the “healthcare” issue.
After the bill passed in the House the other night I decided I had had enough and after bantering back and forth for a while on the issue, I decided to agree with them. This bill is a great idea! I told them I would dump by health insurance in the morning (tired of those $500.00 per month payments for my wife and me) and I would look forward to them paying my bill. My post went something like this:
I’m going to dump my health insurance tomorrow and see if my liberal Democrat friends will chip in and foot the bill. Thanks. This is a great idea you cooked up. Where can I pick up the cash? I’ll meet you where ever you’d like. Thanks again!
I didn’t get much of a response from my liberal Democrat friends, so I figured I’d continue the idea that they cooked up in the House, Senate and White House. I explained that I was having trouble with my car and besides, it’s low on gas right now so, I said:
If I need to take a cab, will you pick up the bill for that too? Nancy Pelosi says healthcare is a right, shouldn’t transportation be a right too? Besides, I’m going to pick up the healthcare cash that you promised and said you believed in. The cab fare shouldn’t be more than 30 bucks or so. Thanks. See ya!
Dang, my liberal Democrat friends still didn’t answer. I have a lot of them too. I can’t believe they were ignoring me in my time of need. Maybe they weren’t on Facebook anymore or their computers had broken down. But all at the same time? That seemed odd. About this time I was feeling hungry, so I thought I’d check back to see if they were there yet:

I was shocked that I still heard nothing. I know these are all really good people who care about those of us without insurance. They said so. They told me over and over that they wanted to help the 31 million, or 41, or 51 million Americans without insurance. Now, I was one of those 61 million and I needed their help. Maybe they were just offline. But then, I thought I would give them another chance:

I’m one of 71 million people out there without insurance, who don’t have a car and are hungry and behind on house payments. Silence is golden. If my wife and I want a Saturday alone, we just tell the kids that everybody has to clean the house with us. It's the same concept. If you start talking about personal responsibility or accountability, or any of those radical concepts, all the parasites go running.

Exactly. I'm self-employed and have my own policy with Kaiser Permanente. It costs about $400/month. I hear the penalty for not having insurance is about $750/year. Since I'm in good health now, I figure I can dump my policy, pay the fine and then wait and sign up again if/when I get really sick. What a great deal! I'll save $4,000 a year. In truth now the fear starts. Many people were sidelined on this, my grocer, my restauranteer, my auto shop all disintrested before, just politics as ussual, asked ME today how this was gonna work out for them. They had heard all employers would pay, that only employers with 50 employees would pay (that same guy told me they were just after the big guys a week ago) but then he heard that they were going to lower it to 20 and he has 31 employees. They asked me how it would effect my business (no employees just a simple partnership), I asked them are you worried? they all seperately answered YES. Will you be expanding? NO. Will you be spending more on advertising?

This is actually a great idea. especially if the states/law suits get them to remove the mandatory part of the law. My typical HC costs per month, Im talking actual HC not insurance coverage, is pretty low. I could dump my insurance, pay the little I use out of pocket and only get insurance if I get sick with more then the flu. What you have to understand is this new entitlement will be paid for with SEM (Someone Else's Money) not MM (My Money). We are providing insurance for X,000,000 people (where X = an integer between 1 and 100). We are going to generate millions of government jobs (All properly SEIU Unionized, of course). We are going to create, fund and staff 139 new governmental offices. And it will all be paid for with someone else's money because the deficit is going to go down and premiums are going down!
And if you believe any of this BS, that should be propable cause for drug testing because you MUST be on a pretty powerful reality altering drug.

And don't worry about the number of Doctors available. Once all your files are electronically available. One government certified Doctor can sit in front of a computer and consult with many nurses across the country, viewing your electronic file and getting their input to create a quick government approved diagnosis. So we really don't need more Doctors, maybe even less. I wish I was joking.

Many Americans are going to be surprised with they realize "health insurance for all" isn't the same as "FREE health insurance for all." I've been surprised at how many Obamacare supporters I've talked to that assume only the super-rich will pay the bill for Obamacare. Even though there has been some extreme lying in Congress about the pros and cons of Obamacare, I don't believe anyone – not even Barack Obama – said the health insurance the government will force us to buy will be free. Even those who are eligible for government subsidies will have to pay something or Mr. IRS Agent will come visiting with a fine and/or a prison term. Don't be fooled. The government doesn't hire 16,500 new IRS agents because it wants to do something good for us. I know. I used to work for the IRS. And what about the claim that healthcare is a Constitutional right? Regardless on which side of this debate you fall, where is it written that a Constitutional right not paid for by the taxpayers is a Constitutional right denied?
How long before the states start dumping their Medicare and Medicaid clients on to the federal rolls?

I don't recall saying that I agreed with President Bush's spending, mostly because I didn't. Let me take this opportunity to say that I did not approve of President Bush's deficits. Let me also take this opportunity to say that President Obama's deficits scare the crap out of me. I never expected to collect anything from Social Security but the current spending seems guaranteed to napalm my own retirement savings with inflation.
As far as Saddam Hussein is concerned, the man killed millions of Iranians, hundreds of thousands of Iraqis, thousands of Kuwaitis as well as Saudis, Isrealis and Americans. The man used chemical weapons against his own citizens! And he had, at one time, a nuclear weapons program. Not having someone like that in charge of the world's 4th largest army should have been a good thing. I would agree that the after the invasion part was completely screwed up. …So if health care is now a right …Time to demand affordable and accessible legal representation as a RIGHT for all people living in the United States (legally or illegally). . We need to fundamentally change the legal system – a sweeping overhaul. Gone will be the days where you only get the legal representation and justice you can afford – legal justice now! This is a crisis – millions and millions of Americans can not afford a lawyer – if we don't fix this by the end of (insert random month) then the United States will fail !!! Think of the sad case of (insert random name who wrote to the president about not being able to afford a real estate attorney to look over his loan contract and didn't understand that he was taking out a loan on a $745,000 house that he could not afford to pay back on his $30,000 salary.

Here's a start: 1) Force all employers provide free legal services (whether work related or not) to all employees and their family members, 2) Save $ by limiting lawyer fees, establish a special investigative unit to go after fraud and waste in law firms (of course investigators will get to keep a % of $ they recover, 3) No client can be turned away because they can not afford to pay, 4) Special government agency to provide end of life legal services including free will preparation and free legal guardianship assistance – all Americans will be required to have a will which they will submit to the IRS enforcement agency every year along with their IRS tax form and Health insurance form…..of course legal reform will be a completely transparent process by the most ethical congress and administration ever. Please bring your suggestions for legal reform to your congressman's next town hall meeting.

I remember when I was about 15 ( 30 years ago ) and I overheard two adults talking about increasing welfare to an amount that people could live on. I don't remember the figure but let's say they were talking about $12,000. I butted in and asked " What about the guy that makes $13,000, what incentive does he have to continue working? He thinks about it and says for $1,000 less I don't have to work. ". One of the adults said " Well make the figure $15,000 then ". I said " What incentive does the guy making $16,000 have? ".The adult said " You could make that arguement for any amount ". I said " exactly ". The conversation abruptly ended with complete silence. I don't know if he thought he won the arguement or was emberassed that a 15 year old just showed how dumb his arguement was.
I'm pretty sure there was an election and Obama won. I didn't realize that now constitutes staging a "coup." And as for the "private sector" taking care of us all like a loving mother, I hope you didn't have money in AIG. And I presume you advocate repealing Social Security and Medicare as well. Dear American Business owners. Do to the new taxes levied upon you by the Obama Care legislation, and the fact that you will be forced to pass on those new costs to me the consumer. I will no longer be able to do business with American companies. From now on all my money will have to go to companies from foreign nations who have a lower cost of operations there by selling m the same product or service at a lower cost, Though I believe in buy American I can no longer afford to do so.

yes, it IS easy for them-because they CHOOSE to live that way, Of course it's different for folks who've actually worked for goals and paid their dues, only to end up in the poorhouse.
And if it's compassion they seek, I'm too damn tired to give any because I have to work much harder to make ends (barely) meet. Nothing like working 70 hours a week, only to see neighbors sitting on their porches all day long living it up on welfare.
I have now decided to become an artist or artiste', whatever. I even have a jar to piss in (for now at least). The jar and contents will be offered up on EBAY for bids after Ms Pelosi sends me an endowment check or something. I didn't mention Social Security or Medicare but if you have to pretend that I did to rationalize your contempt for capitalists and capitalism or, as they say in your world, anyone who's not like you, have at it. The Germans thought they had a winner, too, in Adolf Hitler. Man up, get a job, buy your own health insurance, and get your eyes off everyone else's money. You might want to vote some Republicans in before you try for your first job though–it's always easier to find work under Republican administrations. All the economic woes we're suffering right now have to do with greed, most of it Demmunist greed. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac sound familiar? Communism, invariably, is the ultimate manifestation of greed. As is wanting others to provide your healthcare for you when you can get it for yourself. When you realize how totally you've been played by the Demmunist school system–I don't want to be there.
