I’m watching the media reports on the change of command at the top of the war in Afghanistan and I’m thinking two things….one I figured out, the second, I’m a little confused about.
First, my column of a couple days ago was spot on (easy prediction, actually). The media cares not about the heart of the matter, the rules of engagement of the war, instead they love to focus on the matchup between their Beloved Obama and General Stanley McChrystal. They love it because they knew this was a battle Barack could win with the swipe of a pen. Damn the consequences of his actions, Beloved Obama could put a General in his place and the media are celebrating a victory for the president they put in the White House.

It’s almost like they are sharing this victory and can take credit for it as their own. Doris Kearns Goodwin, liberal history queen and accused plagiarist, declared this as one of Beloved Obama’s historic victories. I guess when you’ve had so few victories, they do stand out. Meantime, our troops in the battlefield are still wondering why they have to give Miranda Rights to terrorists and what will happen to them if they scratch a Taliban terrorist on the back of the hand while taking him into custody. Somebody in the media might want to at least think about asking that question.
Second, is this the same General Petraeus? I know that name from somewhere and I’m pretty sure it’s spelled the same.
I remember a General David Petraeus (same first name and same spelling as this “new” Petraeus) who was brought before Congress while that president before Obama was in the White House. If I remember correctly, the media and their Democrats pretty much hated First Petraeus. I think they called him “Betray-us” and some “left leaning” web site put an ad in the New York Times blasting the guy.

If I remember correctly Hillary Clinton said something about First Petraeus, “suspending disbelief”, which is a fancy way for lefties to call people a liar when they really don’t want to call them a liar, but they really do.
I remember the word “failed” was mentioned a few times relative to First Petraeus. The ad by that “slightly to the left of center” group talked about the war effort failing and a Senator Majority Leader, I believe Harry Reid said something about how the war had “failed.” Reid is my Senator and I’m sure he wouldn’t mistake that First Petraeus for this new Petraeus. They also look a lot alike. I’ve seen the pictures and they look almost like the same guy, but they can’t be. No way.
I remember Newsweek talking about First Petraeus. They said:
When Gen. David Petraeus goes before Congress next week to report on the progress of the surge, he may cite a decline in insurgent attacks in Baghdad as one marker of success. In fact, part of the reason behind the decline is how far the Shiite militias‘ cleansing of Baghdad has progressed: they’ve essentially won.
I think Newsweek was saying then is that the surge is not working, would not work and they declared victory for the terrorists. “They’ve essentially won,” is the way I read that last line. Hummmm. There must be a First and Second Petraeus.
I also recall a vote in the U.S. Senate condemning the ad that claimed First Petraeus was “cooking the books for the White House” and deceiving the nation. Beloved Obama was just a little Senator back then and he had a chance to vote on what he thought of the ad and he decided to vote “absent”. No vote. No way. The measure passed 72-25. Oh well. Those are tough political calls to make and who can expect a rookie Senator to know how to go with that. He just didn’t vote. He sure seems to like Second Petraeus much better than First Petraeus.
It seems all of a sudden the media and their Democrats have forgotten all about First Petraeus. Good for him that they’ve forgotten him, almost like he doesn’t exist. I’ve heard everybody has an evil twin.

…Next the Lying Left Media should admit Sarah Palin was a terrific Governor and is a brilliant political strategist…..
Interesting article.
Obama won his war against General McChrystal.
We'll see how General Petraeus fares.
It’s a hoot, how the left embraces hypocrisy as courageous, and the man they so desperately tried to vilify is now the savior of the Boy Wonder, Barry the most Magnificent…funny stuff.
As and aside, I’m glad Petraeus is going for the soldiers, they now have a real advocate in the field, I recommend the bad guys crawl back into their caves.
Claiming victory for Obama when all he really did was get embarrassed and have the blame for where Afghanistan stands placed where it should be, firmly in Obama's lap, and then cheering his choice of replacement when they were ripping the guy to shreds a couple years ago…
Lefties have no shame whatsoever, and reality doesn't really matter.
I understand, from listening to Rush, that this 'ad' has been 'scrubbed' from MoveOn's site.
BHO's appointment of General Petraeus to fill the slot 'vacated' by Gen. McChrystal, doesn't fit the template, now.
BUT, that hideous ad has NEW life, thanks to this Breitbart site, despite the Progressives' (like MoveOn) best efforts…..and that's a very good thing. It's a remider of what Progressive Trolls 'stand for'.
Thank goodness for your site. It serves as an external hard drive for our memory banks.
Do we really need anymore proof that the left is comprised mostly of scraps off the floor of America? The massive intellect they perceive for themselves is hilarious. How do the deep blues of the progressive movement explain away thier repeated stupidity? They don't.
"It's a remider of what Progressive Trolls 'stand for'. "
It is a sure bet that they stand for everything evile and vile in civilization.
They need to consider themselves lucky that OI'm not running things. I'd put a bounty on their heads. They would have to go live in a cave with Bin Ladin.
The Dimocrats have memories that are short, self-serving and partisan….
When Patraeus was Bush's general he was the devil incarnate,
now that Obumbler has picked him, he's George friggin' Washington…
Betray-us indeed…
Layer upon layer of hypocracy and yet 47% of the people in this country still believe in this idiot man-child.
The Left is getting better and better at double-think and conveniently forgetting history. Apparently the military chain-of-command has always been of paramount importance, Petraeus has always been their guy, and Oceania has always been at war with Eastasia.
I don't think Obama won anything in this mess. He probably would have preferred to ignore it altogether. But when the military openly mocks his team, he either does something or looks even weaker as leader of the free world. As if that were even possible.
It is sad that our soldiers must risk their lives under dubious conditions. Winning the hearts and minds of the people is absolute crap. You certainly won't win those if our actions are portrayed or peceived as cowardly. Not taking out a taliban stronghold for fear of a little collateral damage will only make it certain that the civilians remain far more afraid of the taliban than us.
Not saying to take out civilians just to prove a point. These people have lived and died for centuries by the sword. It is the only thing they honestly understand most of them anyway. We will receive little to no help from the population until they know it is in their best interest to rat the bad guys out if for no other reason then they have some healthy fear of us.
They have to do something or else they might have to end up reporting on what the soldiers actually said.
I have to believe, even though the MSM is firmly on the left, even Chris Matthews would have a hard time keeping a straight face while saying "Senator Bite-me."
No, they still demonize George Washington. The left is incapable of grasping the honor of the typical service member. They can't quite understand how a person can perform his or her duty regardless of the person in charge.
Look to the core of this lack of comprehension and you'll quickly realize that those on the left have no honor. To them the words Duty, Honor, Country have no meaning.
For some reason today I feel optimistic. I think that we've started the "American Comeback". The typical American rejects the left and we've finally starting to wake up.
I second that emotion. They deserve everything you can throw at them. Too bad you aren't running things.
I would agree with the modern left leadership, but not the rank and file modern liberals. If you can reach past the defensive barrier exposure to the left creates, usually they're quite nice people, just misguided.
Talk to them. Be polite, respectful, don't brow beat them, talk to them. You'd be surprised what you can achieve.
Perhaps you are right.
I might try that.
Then, if it doesn't work, we can use napalm.
For the most part, I'd surmise them to be atheists.
But by the time I was through, I'd put the fear of God into them.
The left that's running the show, the MSM, academia, yes they are disgusting. But the majority of the ones I engage are decent people. They just haven't bothered to think things through.
The other day one of my sisters forwarded me an email with that disgusting moronic quote by Keynes on how morally reprehensible capitalism is. I simply explained to her who Keynes was, what he believed, and how he would think she is a complete moron for not thinking he was brilliant.
Got her thinking. Then I explained if she wanted to see a stellar example of his theories in practice, have a gander at the beached whales in the White House.
Get them thinking!
LG
I could not think of a military man, who the sick left might somewhat admire, so GW was one possibility, Ashley Wilkes /Wesley Clark was the another..
A little part of me wants all Hell to break loose, so I can hunt these Progressive vermin down.
There are some out there who are napalm ready by any measurement. Ignore those. The only thing they're good for is ridiculing and examples.
But there's many more who've only heard the napalm-ready ones side of the story. They've never really been exposed to different perspectives. Which is exactly what the MSM bias is for. To keep it that way.
The tricky part is trying to determine the difference. And the only way to do that is to engage them. You can usually find out fairly quick. After a while you'll establish a tool box of ninja throwing star like questions and statements.
The better you get at it the quicker you'll be at determining which throwing star to toss based upon the circumstances.
And when you get really good at the real fun starts. Here's where the napalm-ready ones come in use. Say you're at a party or at a bar, and there's conversation going on. Listen, you can usually tell which one is the idiot, because they will be the ones with the attitude "of course I'm right and if you can't see it, that's just proof how dumb you are."
That is your napalm-ready target. Fire at will, fire at will. Take apart their argument one brick at a time using logic, facts and reasoning. Drives them absolutely nuts. Before long they will be screaming, blithering idiots.
Then something magical happens. The more normal ones will have a perfect dichotomy to compare. You, sane, educated, making sense vs. the person they used to think was normal and turns out to be a cook. When that happens you just got those people thinking. Mission accomplished.
"Bizarro Petraeus," perhaps?
Napalm…good choice. I understand the concept of the lefties being misguided, but nice…I have a couple of them in my family. But, I think we pay a very heavy price for their ' mis-guidedness'… while others , not so mis- guided, get called on to protect them, along with the rest of us. I don't see them paying much of a price for their goofy stands and subsequent votes for lefty candidates.
I should think his concern for the welfare of the troops is the only thing keeping Gen. Petraeus from telling Obama where to stuff it and resigning so as not to be the Left's sock puppet/scapegoat. I don't see this working out well for him.
On winning the hearts and minds of the Afghanis, well, one thing Muslims respect is strength. Showing them our warm and fuzzy side makes as much sense as cutting yourself and jumping into a shark tank.
War is peace, freedom is slavery, and ignorance is strength.
Hello my friend.
Here is my favorite quote:
"There is no hunting, like the hunting of armed men. Once one has done it, and finds out they like it, nothing else is ever quite the same."
Perhaps that is why I do not hunt wild game. I could not harm an animal if my life depended upon it. I prefer something that can shoot back.
This is sarcastic, right?
….you are a lying leftist troll with Palin Derangement Syndrome scared sh*tless by the Thrilla from Wasilla , right ?…
My sentiments, too, CL. Hate to see any of my animals suffer–bad guys–not so much. Quit hunting 30 years ago or so and never did hunt "big game."
Ah Doris….yes indeed, a "historic victory"! Who better to know than one who steals others work and then claims it as theirs! A great Historian's historian you are!
A lying leftist troll…well, I try to be honest but I do live under a bridge and eat billy goat gruffs who try to cross while at the same time reading "Rules for Radicals" and articles published in The Nation magazine in the 1960's.
Palin Derangement Syndrome? Was this a Limbaugh creation, or maybe Hannity.
…PDS is very real and easily diagnosed in Trolls who claim Sarah is illiterate, uncouth, and politically irrelevant – yet cannot stop talking about her….like it's an Obsession…..ha ha
The left would consider this a victory, and not because Obama won? by forfeit, but because it puts Americans further at risk. If Obama had friends as a child instead of grandma, he would've learned at an early age not to play with others that spoke ill of him, but i'm guessing Spike Lee had to tell him what to do, again!
I hope somewhere deep down in his heart Petreus is just petty enough to be enjoying the site of Karma biting the Dems in the party logo!
Cowboy,
Everyone who knows me, knows I'm a live and let live kind of guy. My motto is "Leave me alone, and I won't kill you", It works for me, as I know of no living person who's ever screwed with me.

I think Second Petraeus looks older than First Petraeus, so they can't be the same one.
So the Left loving him(Second Petraeus) is his weakness?
After that I think anything Petraeus does bad will reflect poorly on Obama's choices for Generals, if he angers the left again, Petraeus will probably have saved many American lives.
I agree with you. I have many friends that just are not as informed. The ones I despise are the manipulators
of the people and friends like the ones we know. I wish them no ill will.
"I know of no safe repository of the ultimate power of society but the people. And if we think them not enlightened enough, the remedy is not to take power from them, but to inform them by education." – Thomas Jefferson

You hiding Obama's college transcripts down there too?
Makes you wonder how far they'd go in their slavish devotion to their messiah. If BO suddenly swung hard right and acted like a real president, would they suddenly have a road to Damascus conversion to conservativism?
She has that "weepy for the children" Liberal look that says, "I'm so pathetic I just peed my pants."
Unless I missed it, I haven't seen any comments from Hillary Clinton AT ALL about this. She also was not present at the White House when the announcement was made. Biden was there, Mullen was there, Gates was there, so you'd think the Secretary of State would be there too. Nope, no Hillary. Strange, considering that her State Department is going to be critical in handing this war over to the Afghans. And strange, too, that Petraeus didn't seem to mention the State Department or Clinton in any of his remarks. After the egg Hillary laid during the grilling she gave Petraeus while she was in Congress, I'm sure the general isn't too anxious to meet with Hillary, let alone talk fondly about her. If the military and the State Department can't play nice in Afghanistan, we will lose, and badly. I'm just surprised Petraeus decided to take the job.
Ah, No.
Hey moveon.org freaks – check it out. Up yours. lmao lol hahahaaa roflol you are sofa king retarded. Hypocrities. Skunk meat. Camel dung. Reptiles. Cockroaches. Vermin. Diseased. Al Gore pedophile.. Bill Clinton multi-pedophile. Obama Face. You're busted. Case closed. Losers.
hahahhaaaa this is toooooooo funny.
Dear Doris Kearns Goodwin:
You are so pretty. Can I have your baby? Plueeeze!
The irony is that when Reagan was elected by the RNC in '79, the Dems celebrated because they were absolutely sure the Repubs had just handed them an easy victory.
I too am glad that Petraeus is there
David Kelley, who founded The Atlas Society, once compared academia to "Amish villages" in that nobody who is not Amish actually gives a d*mn what goes on in them. Now if only we could work the Lefty population down to the size of the Amish population, we'd be rolling
We all know the MSM is "Stuck on Stupid." If Petraeus does nothing else, he gave us that phrase. Thank you General.
Petraeus under Bush = Traitor
Petraeus under Messiah = Hero
Even liberals now realize they were vile and stupid to have attacked Bush's great general Petaeus.
Groups like MoveOn.org are even worse than political parties. These people are low-life deceitful trash for whom lying is a way of life. Fortunately, there is a lesson here. People on the extremes like MoveOn.org should never be trusted. They are the lowest form of human being
This just goes to show you what type of phony, unscrupulous BS organization MoveOn.org is

I think we should call Obama's upcoming loss in 2012 "historic".
I'm guessing employment is up at the Ministry of Truth these days.
Man, even when I try to be funny and play along on here I get negative points. Ouch people. Ouch.
