Lemme get this straight: the media is talking about context. They want context!
They’ve never cared about context in the past. When a person talked like a racist there were no excuses, no context, no explanation, no recovery allowed or given. Ask any conservative who’s been wrongly accused of being a racist knows exactly what I’m talking about. The list is long. Limbaugh, Beck, Allen, O’Reilley—on and on.
How about some context with the New Black Panthers, you media kings?
Finally, after years of knowing the video is out there of the New Black Panthers intimidating voters at polling places in Philadelphia and after weeks of seeing video of that same New Black Panther guy urging the murder of “crackers” and “cracker babies,” it’s now okay for the media to start showing the video.
They can now change the context of that video and instead of seeing it for what it is—they now put it in the context of right wing media trying to make race an issue. What the…?
They just needed something to justify changing the context. Because they think they have caught Andrew Breitbart in a racial ruse in regards to Shirley Sherrod they can now unload all their anger on Andrew.
Yes, it is anger, and it has been building for a long time.
The networks are all unloading both barrels. They even brought back George Allen and “macaca.” I guess it wasn’t enough to run him out of office in 2006, they need another excuse to run that video (talk about ignoring context!).
The clearly false charge that Congressman John Lewis made of racial slurs being thrown at him by Tea Partiers was also brought up again. The media still paints this in the context that Lewis is accurate, but the evidence that day shows otherwise. Breitbart still has that $100,000 waiting for anybody who can prove what Lewis said is true. TV stations could use the money. Why haven’t they collected by now?
Bottom line here—Breitbart is correct: the audience reaction to what Sherrod was saying about her past. That’s the point he was making and it is a valid point.
I’m all about forgiveness. Forgive and forget and move on. That’s the message of Dr. Martin Luther King. Look at the content of people’s character, not the color of their skin. Some of us were taught that early in life, others unfortunately learn it later.
But, let me ask you this—what if George Allen runs for office again? Allen is clearly not racist, never has been and says the “macaca” statement was not racist, but he apologized right away in case anybody was offended. The media is rushing to create forgiveness for Sherrod (they did the same thing with Senator Robert Byrd and his KKK connections), but you know as well as I do that the same standard would not be applied to the Republican Allen, were he to run for office again (which I hope he does).
Barack Obama, the candidate ran on a platform of being a great “uniter.” He was going to bring us all together from the supposed division created by George W. Bush, instead we are more divided than ever. I’m thinking we have to go back 150 years to the Civil War to find a time that we have been more divided as a nation.
Obama’s Attorney General Eric Holder slams America as a “nation of cowards” when it comes to race. Obama allows Holder to ignore possible crimes against white victims because the alleged perp is black. Where’s their coverage on the whistleblower there? Context.

I could go on and on—but I will agree with Holder on this point, but I will change it just a bit. The media are cowards when it comes to race. For them to ignore these stories, and others for years, months and weeks before trying to use a fabricated scandal with Breitbart as supposed “cover” is despicable.

They may say they care about context, but in this case, the context was there. So their demand for it is maliciously dishonest.
Maybe they just don't know what "context" means.

- from an earlier post –
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.
~ Martin Luther King, Jr. ~
This is Kryptonite to men of low character who seek power, wealth and influence. Obama had it all, never before has a black man been in such a position to place a dagger in the heart of remaining bigotry and prejudices. He has squandered it. He has dashed hopes. He has dishonored MLK, and set back progress of reaching that dream. Damn him.
in context, what about false statements never once said by rush, being quoted all over, until he was yanked from the group trying to buy the rams. nobody was interested in that context, not even after they finished the job. pot calling the kettle a racist?
Of course they're mad.
They have watched as their organizations, their agendas, their biasews, have lost relevance/influence among normal folk.
They have to blame anyone besides their pathetic selves.
Well said, Randy,
Dr King would literally cry at this sham of a man, a president, and all the lost opportunity he fought so hard to afford him.
It seems to me the most utterly ridiculous argument in this whole sordid little mellerdrammer is the charge of racism against people who ELECTED A BLACK PRESIDENT. What the hell does America have to DO to prove the voting majority ISN'T RACIST?
If electing a black president won't convince them…..THEY CANNOT OR WILL NEVER BE CONVINCED!
I’ll go out on a limb here and just say to hell with it. I’m tired of beating the dead horse of racist/bigot accusations. I’m white, so because of that fact, I’m a racist. Okay, whatever, I’ll deal with it. I work, live and breathe the same oxygen as everyone else, of all colors. All I want to do is pay close attention to what is going on around us and what is going on in government today. I won’t argue with trolls. Hell, I even got into it with one yesterday, tried to extend a hand to restart the dialogue over again but she insisted on her own judgments and got in the last word. Screw it!!! I got more important things to worry about.
I’m focusing on November and each day between now and then. And if elections remain and the votes are counted, I’ll continue to focus on November ’12. That is my weapon of choice, the ballot. But I’m not wasting my time anymore on this new battle plan of the left. Screw them too! Obama: The Great Uniter….my ass!!!
What we need is a list of all the people who have been fired, persecuted or brought up on charges of discrimination without having the privilege of having their "crimes" put into context. One of the obvious ones is Rush Limbaugh and his bid to buy a Football team.
Anyone else?
"Capitalism knows only one color: that color is green; all else is necessarily subservient to it, hence, race, gender and ethnicity cannot be considered within it."
Thomas Sowell
context: hummmmmmmm
Trent Lott-hummmm
Rush as football (dare i say it…..) COLOR COMMENTATOR-HUMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!
Miss America?
Sarah Palin—CONTEXT PLEASE!
Force them to confront their lies—they used to spread propaganda, now just straight up lies. Did any of "those people on our list have their lives or careers effected like "poor old $13M government settlement" Shirley? Well if you look at it in CONTEXT- what the hell are the libs complaining about? Mommy didn't cut the crust off your sandwich…maybe not enough pea-buddy…did you wipe good?
I haven't seen it pointed out by any "news" outlet or others covering the Breitbart/Sherrod flap, that the opening words of Andrew Breitbart's article "Video Proof: The NAACP Awards Racism–2010" is:
"Context is everything."
Clearly, anyone making disparaging accusations about these video clips being displayed "out of context", did not take into account Breitbart's opening three words of admonition, thus taking him out of context.
" What the hell does America have to DO to prove the voting majority ISN'T RACIST? "
reparations ?
CON TEXT is two words for libtards.
As well as play into the stereotype. He talks the talk but cannot walk the walk.!
Put into context, O'bama has sacked race relations in this country. His style is polarizing. He has done the same thing to Arab- Israeli relations, government-private business relations, Christian-Muslim relations and so many more. Why doesn't Obama call a public forum and invite Andre Carson, John Lewis and get to the bottom of all this.
The Tea Party needs to file a lawsuit for defamation of character against the congressmen who claim the N word was hurled at them 15 TIMES. We need CONTEXT. We need TRUTH. We need these people to be held ACCOUNTABLE. A lie told over and over should never be the truth. Our politicians and the MSM have no ACCOUNTABILITY. They do not believe in CONTEXT when it does not help them. A lawsuit will at least try to bring some accountability and truth to this matter.
You are right Leauxryda. Energy here sometimes seems like a big waste and voting is what must be our focus, but before you stop responding to outrageous posts, think about how many other people who never comment read your post. Think about how reassuring it can be that you are not alone in your thoughts and perception of what is right and wrong, moral and immoral. It is a given that the heart of someone who posts comments here will seldom be changed no matter what their take is on an issue. Hopefully there are people that read these posts while trying to decide for themselves how they should feel about something. If a troll goes unchallenged and unanswered, his argument will win the day because people will believe there is no credible challenge. I have learned more from posts that I have not responded to than those where I make a comment or two. If you are passionate or knowledgeable about a subject, commenting may do more good than you know. Most people come here for information that they can't get anywhere else. You may have an idea or put words together in just the right way that someone is helped to decide what their own feelings should be. Apathy is the silver bullet that kills freedom. I hope you stay in the debate no matter how frustrating it is at times. Enjoy your day!
It's not a matter of the news media being cowardly, I would argue that it takes great boldness to be so blatantly hypocritical.
The news media is corrupt. It has been infiltrated by leftist ideologues who have corrupted the once great news organizations into machines of propaganda for ruling class elitists. They are complicit in the destruction of our Constitutional values because they have been promised defacto "titles of nobility" and sovereign protection in the new socialist state that is being pursued by the elites.
Not a problem.
FIND ME ONE PERSON, TAKEN BY FORCE FROM THEIR LAND BY ME, BOUGHT BY ME, OWNED BY ME, ENSLAVED BY ME, AND I'LL CONSIDER IT.
OTHERWISE, YOU'LL NEED TO CHECK WITH JOHN EDWARD.
))))
HT:
Thanks for a very encouraging message. The one thing you brought up is the one thing I do believe and that’s “Apathy is the silver bullet that kills freedom”. Never thought of it in those words but always believe apathy and also complacency are the very things that got us into this mess we’re trying to clean up. More than ever, I’ve grown tired of the “race” game but in my fatigue, I also know deep down in my heart the accusations cannot continue. I, like the majority, want to get along with my fellow man, do not want the governments’ help, want to serve the faith of my choice and earn my keep in life. Along with many other simple desires, I want to continue to live in a free country. I have committed myself to fight for it, even on my own soil. Die if I have to so that my children and grandchildren live on in the dream that is America. I’ll keep fighting the good fight. And I’m sure some troll will likely push a button of response that will certainly be the temptation to indulge. Sure have been quite a storm of trolls here lately. I’ll be hanging with the debates. Too much at stake to walk away from. Thanks for the reassuring and kind words. Enjoy your day too and my best to you and yours, always!
This is absolutely true. The liberal media does not care about racism, only finding conservatives to brand as racist. The bigoted statements by the NAACP, far worse than anything a conservative has said is ignored. So racial hate is ok with the liberals, as long as a liberal is doing it. Other wise it is wrong!
Nope, that still won't do it. Think of it as anthropology (and if that term is incorrect, apologies, I'm an engineer).
Any animal that hunts or gathers expends energy doing it. Therefore the amount of energy gained by hunting and/or gathering must be greater than the amount expended to obtain it, or else starvation is the result.
That's still true in modern society. We want to expend the least amount of energy while obtaining the greatest amount of energy.
And its a lot more efficient to cry victim and demand free stuff than actually working to obtain it yourself.
As long as its easier than actually producing something, people will continue to do this crap.
They've also got cushy jobs that pay well.
Beats digging ditches for a living.
Trent Lott. That DC mayor asst. who used the word "niggardly."
Dr. Sowell's brain is so big I think it it defies the laws of physics to fit in a human skull.
I read his book on Basic Economics and it was jaw dropping. He could take such a complicated subject and boil it down to such a readable form simply amazes me.
That last pragraph NAILS IT.
We are witnessing the death throes of the old media, and of the lie which is Progressivism.
Keep stabbing the beast, y'all.
We are witnessing the death throes of the old media, and of the lie which is Progressivism.
Keep stabbing the beast, y'all. Water that tree.
We need to be calling this what it really is "Playing the Race Card' or otherwise known as "The Shirley Charade". Context for the msm is nebulous. The whole point has been to distract.
They do not WANT to be convinced.
Without racism the Rearend Jesse Jackass and Al Not-so-Sharpton become irrelevant.
Without racism there are no hate crimes.
Without racism the left has one less epithet for the right.
Without racism the illegal immigration issue becomes one of law.
And so on.
That is why they will not be convinced.
You got to decentralize Congress back to our local districts to by default decentralize the Media to stop this circus. http://econgressnow.com
Agreed, I'd love to see Ms. Palin in more context!
We left out the only thing that really matters, guys:
Without the CRUTCH of racism,
EVERYONE IS ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR OWN SUCCESS OR FAILURE IN LIFE.
little wonder nobody wants it to go away.
Aren't modern liberals cute when you get them into a corner?
They get all flustered, and start doing that herd mentality thingy. Reminds me of flocks of birds in the air. 'Lets go this way okay, no wait, lets go that way, okay, no wait….'
Yes we do, skl,
Those who do not defend their rights, property, and their reputation, lose them. Just that simple. Instead of wasting time on endless rebuttals, better to spend their time demanding, in a court, the CBC prove their claim or retract it.
Look I gotta go and I don't know where on this site to post this but IT'S IMPORTANT TO THE NOV ELECTIONS AND SOONER RATHER THAN LATER WE NEED TO GET THIS TO OUR STATE GROUPS AND CANDIDATES so I'm gonna post it here and you guys take it here or off site wherever you think it needs to go. It's from Krauthammer's article today…..don't know what paper…..but it's good, and it could be invaluable to us.
=====================================================
How then to prevent a runaway lame-duck Congress? Bring the issue up now — applying the check-and-balance of the people's will before it disappears the morning after Election Day. Every current member should be publicly asked: In the event you lose in November — a remote and deeply deplorable eventuality, but still not inconceivable — do you pledge to adhere to the will of the electorate and, in any lame-duck session of Congress, refuse to approve anything but the most routine legislation required to keep the government functioning?
The Democrats could, of course, make the pledge today and break it tomorrow. Call me naive, but I can't believe anyone would be that dishonorable.
=====================================================
This has preemptive strike written all over it. And there is nothing uglier than a nasty lame duck session.
Leftist herd mentality on display…great fun!
I got the lefts context dangling, I’m loving this Andrew, you have released a whirlwind exposing leftist nitwits behind every stone…great fun. Thanks Andrew, keep your chin up, and keep slogging, they’re on the ropes, and are telling us with their hysterics.
Ah! I believe Texas has hit the nail on the head! Racism is an issue today to provide an out for personal accountability.
Racism will never go away. Everyone is a little bit racist. (Avenue Q Broadway Play) And it's true. We're all a little bit racist. The civilized part of our being refutes the racism. The understanding that in the dark we're all identical. Acceptance or refusal of personal responsibility cuts across racial boundaries.
If MKL were still alive he would likely be shaking his head and wondering "I worked my tail off so we could have this fool?"
Don't worry about AB. He's a big boy and I would be surprised if he didn't have some clue as to the firestorm he was stirring up before he made the post. Let Shirley sue. AB has 100 grand he's been trying hard to give away. Maybe he'll find a good use for it now.
Liberty,
Even if we were all the same color we're not the same religion, sex, ethnicity.
Rugged individualism has it's cost. So does group think. Neither is desirable alone. Both are vital at times. It's the blending that's the thing. Just like too much garlic makes everything else you eat taste like garlic.
Balance and a WILLINGNESS to set aside our INDIVIDUALISM for the greater good until the herd makes a turn for the cliff at which time we need that INDIVIDUALISM AND COURAGE to stand in front and turn the herd away from the cliff.
Not rocket science….but work. And man is a lazy critter. He likes his routines and politics and world events interrupt that routine. Things seem to have to reach DEFCON 2 before anyone's willin to declare DEFCON 1 OR 5.
Pendulums never stop swingin
People like predictable routine
a stitch in time saves nine, lol
I know, Duke,
But what would he say and do after that?
THERE'S A QUESTION WORTH ASKIN AND ANSWERIN.
I am pleased that you found my comments encouraging and appreciate that you took the time to acknowledge them. Lighten up a little and laugh when you read some of the stupid stuff because that's all it is most of the time. We can fix this. Hey! I may have hit on what should be our campaign slogan! BO was "Yes we can", ours can be "We can fix this". Oh well, for a minute or two it sounded good to me! Continue to enjoy your day!
Out in the sunshine they demand context, meanwhile, back at the dark cave ranch, they are furiously recontructing JournoList and expanding it. Collusion and slander is all they have. They have no message they can sell.
Totally agree! He is an amazingly intelligent person.
One must understand that the news media in America is nothing more than an extension of the progressive movement. The media ARE progressive and liberals. You cannot find any difference between the two. JournoList anyone? Just take a look at the names already exposed on this list. It is stunning, but not stunning. Walter Shapiro, Ezra Klein, Paul Krugman, Ben Smith, Joe Klein, Joe Conason, Dave Weigel. They should all be fined and jailed for rigging the national election of 2008. This is some of the first 60 released. Who the hell are on the other 340? There is no separating the media with the democratic party. They are all one.
This is the exact point I've been making.
By the standards set by the left Sherrod is to be run out of town on a rail never to be seen again.
And all her friends, coworkers and family members are all suspect too.
Just spin(lies). Demos use the word "racist' to spread hate and buy votes with it.
Repubs shouldn't waste time always answering this. Ignore it. The stupid might believe. They want to. Instead, spend your time on all the waste in government and not obeying the law and protect our borders and not, for political reasons, and not let the states protect themselves to buy Mex vote.
The 'green(money) you refer to is also wanted by millions who were bred on other peoples Green. And want our Green given to them Redistributed (stolen). to buy votes.
The country is not as racially divided as it was during the Civil War. Race relations are better than they have ever been. The problem is that now the country is divided by something different. The country is divided along the lines of the gullible and the skeptical. The gullible are falling for the hustle that the left is playing, and the skeptical are trying to talk some sense into the gullible.
Here's some context the dems may not like, and from a respected Democrat Senator, Jim Webb (D-VA). I've posted this link in other threads in the Brietbart Blogs dealing with race. I'm very glad Webb has the moxie to publish something like this, especially in the WSJ. The WSJ is probably the only place it would appear. I'm sure most of the MSM wouldn't touch it: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703...
Would spitting in Whitey's soup be in context?
Our forefathers already paid for the sin of slavery. They paid for it with their blood on the battlefields of Antietam, Gettysburg, etc.
Rush, about 150 times. Glenn Beck. Officer James Crowley. The men charged with raping Tawana Brawley.
Racist!
You want to know the REALLY ironic thing about that is? – The day before the Obamanation's official usurpation of the White House was Martin Luther King Day!!!
