Was I shocked when I read Andrea S. Lafferty’s article about ABC News sending an undercover photographer into a crowd of Ground Zero Mosque protesters? Yes and no.
Yes, because it’s something a news organization has no business doing. No, because nothing surprises me with the media nowadays.
NBC’s Dateline sent people dressed as Muslims to a NASCAR race shortly after 9-11 to videotape bigotry that they hoped to find. They found none, but that’s not the point here. The fact they thought they would find it at a NASCAR race shows NBC’s bigotry.
In this latest case, ABC needs to explain what it was doing and why it was doing it (of course, we already know, but if they are truly transparent as a media outlet, they would want to explain themselves.)
Undercover cameras are used all the time in gathering news, but they are used when media feel they are going after a “perp”, a bad-guy or some other evil criminal. ABC used an undercover camera to go after average American citizens who apparently are seen as “perps” by the network.
Simple and straight here, ABC—you need to explain what was going on with your undercover cameraman trying to find “dirt” on average Americans. Also—I’d love to see the “raw video.” I’ll take my chances on this one, but I like the odds. If you had something, we would’ve seen it by now. Not only do I challenge you to explain yourselves, but also release the raw video of what your undercover cameraman shot and put it on your web site. There is plenty of bandwidth space. The Internet is a marvelous tool for context. Let’s see everything your undercover cameraman found.
Also — ABC, does it ever occur to you that you that you were going after your own potential viewers here? Please, never wonder why your evening news ratings are dying when you pull stunts like this on the public.

Nothing from the Democrat-Media Complex surprises me anymore. They are not only biased; they are corrupt.

I'm very tired of the left defining words to suit their purposes. Journalists are constantly accusing others of what they themselves practice daily. They are redefining the word "bigot"……and everybody is falling for it.
A bigot is one who is obstinately convinced of the superiority or correctness of one's own opinions and prejudiced against those who hold different opinions.
Bigotry is exactly what the journalist was practicing when infiltrating the Nascar race.

This is may be a pet peeve of mine, but why is it that if you're from the South or you have a Southern accent (I have a slight Southern accent by the way) you're automatically labeled as a bucktooth Klans-man. That stereo type is as bigoted as saying that if you're black you automatically love fried chicken and drink a forty-ounce for lunch.

There's nothing wrong with undercover photographers per se. What's wrong was the provocation. Utterly contemptible. And now the photographer will get a slap on the wrist for getting caught?
There use to be a significant gap between 'tabloid' journalism and what was then the mainstream media. It's truly ironic that when we need them most we find how far they've fallen. And coincidentally we have in fact met the enemy. We can only hope what spawns from our 24/7 interactive social internet communication will be some recognized trustworthy source of information. If we don't self destruct in the process.
What do you expect? They (MSM) have proven lately beyond a shadow of a doubt that they ignore real, relevant, value-added, investigative, truthful reporting in order to continue their fawning, biased and misguided support for this Administration. I have a journalism degree earned over 20 years ago at a time when I believed that a journalist's job was to serve as an independent check and balance; essentially the American public 's ever vigilant watchdog and bullshit detector. con't: As disappointed as I am in the failure of our media to DO THEIR JOB, there is a silver lining and that is we, the American people, can and should put our money where our mouths are and refuse to passively sit there and allow the MSM to cram propaganda down our throats. I WANT to hear both sides of a story presented by a trained, OBJECTIVE reporter. Yes, I know it is hard to be an individual with opinions whose job it is to be objective but again, having been a journalism student, I know that it IS YOUR JOB to present the facts of the story OBJECTIVELY and allow the American public to make their own judgments based on FACTS!!!

They need to have "Animal Farm" and Orwell's other classic "1984"… Unfortunately, it will never happen as the progressives have caught on to the symbolism… Best way to get kids to read these books is through the parents… Come to think of it, some of the parents should read them as well – especially those that are still drinking the Kool-Aid… I am, of course, hopeful that it will cause a revelation in the minds of the misguided, but the Kool-Aid is so strong these days that most progressives will come away thinking that the pigs were unfairly prejudiced against (after all, they had the best interests of the barnyard at heart, right?)…

All you have to do is watch the burning and stone throwing at leftists events to know that the media are in no danger at all and treated like part of the team. The one thing that is missing here is the search for this "media" persons name and background. We all know that SEIU would offer a beat down to a person showing up at their events wearing a Tea Party shirt which takes much more courage than to show up at a tea party event undercover. Blech. Do they teach these kind of tactics in the J-schools? I think a big problem is that instead of having people report the news as it happens, we have people coming out of "higher education" who see themselves as crusaders for the "higher good". Everyone has biases that color how they perceive things but these people will not admit to such things. They're also arrogant; if things that they see don't quite fit "the Narrative", they think that, if they just give a prod here, a push there, they can initiate an incident that will prove their view. Problem is, the incidents they initiate often don't unfold as they thought they would – they're like science experiments gone bad.
The left is grabbing for straws. Knowing that they are dangling out over the edge of obscurity the gnashing of teeth is actually quite refreshing. About the only thing I watch on an ABC channel is "Whose Line Is It Anyway" on ABC Family.
Who's they? Here's the deal, there was some talk in the administration about letting all of the Bush tax cuts lapse as they will do automatically. But if that happened, EVERYONES taxes would go up. That wouldn't do for a couple of reasons, one, then everyone would find out that the tax cuts weren't just for the rich. The other is that the President promised that he would not increase taxes on the middle class. So the discussions are between polititians, the administration and economists (the they I was referring to) as to how to handle the Bush tax cuts.
