What I haven't seen in any of the comments on the SCOTUS' decision is when they asked the FEC's lawyer if this also extended to books, the FEC lawyer answered "Yes." SCOTUS had a big problem swallowing one horrendous outcome of this extended to banning books.

Concerning my "safe district" comment; at least Massachusettes has a plurality of "independent" voters. Here we have a minority "majority" meaning mostly Mexican American decent (I'm 50% Mexican heritage) and the march lock-step, drone like to the polls and vote a DemoKKKrat straight ticket.

He reneged on his agreement with McCain during the campaign when he realized he could get more campaign money from "private donors" than by limiting himself to federal money, like McCain did. He badgered McCain into agreeing not to accept private donations. Then, when Moveon and others started funneling milliions to his campaign, he changed his mind. And that buffoon, McCain, stayed true to his word. I guess he didn't realize that when Obama broke the agreement, there was no agreement left to break, so McCain did not have to honor his commitment. He should have started soliciting $$$ out the yin-yang, but he couldn't, could he? His name was on the law. How did he win the nomination?

I knew when he started the the lie about the deficit he inherited, it would be downhill from there. But, when he had the unmitigated gall to say that he supported the Iranian people after the election, my head almost exploded. At that very moment, I went from disliking the man, to loathing him.

If you as a voter are easy swayed by special interest groups (even Unions), don't you think that at some point that you should make a voting decision on your own? And if you already do this, shouldn't you infer that the rest of the voters do as well. I think people, either as individuals or joined in groups, should be able to spend as much money as they can and want to advertise for their choice of canidate because in the end every voter will ignore the messages they don't believe in. And if such a advertisement campaign does change minds? So what. That competition.
Yeah we wouldn't want foriegn elements swaying our elections … so, Siemens/GE/NBC/MSNBC/CBS/Time-Warner/ ABC etc. should stand quiet this entire year as they are mostly owned by over-seas entities. So are most of the media …

That is completely untrue. Perhaps you should read the law to find out what it says about US Citizenship. Current law (which is actually different from the time Obama was born) is essentially (which a very few exceptions) that if you're born in the United States, you are a US citizen. Citizenship of either parent is irrelevant at that point. Know what you're talking about before you speak. Or if you don't want to take the time to search out the law (which is admittedly difficult in this case), at least go to Snopes to check it out. I received a wage increase upon the new year as per my contract. Looking at my pay stub, I see that I am getting a gross $90 increase per pay period. I am taking a net $40 additional dollars per pay period home. That works out to me paying over 50% of my new wages in taxes. And no, I am not earning anywhere close to $250k, let alone 6 figures…

They already did this though, without the SCOTUS ruling. It was just done in secret. Hopefully we will hear even more about it now and it will be easier to weed out the corrupt politicians. Honestly this ruling won't change much except make it so less corrupt corporations can legally give money in some way to their favorite politicians.

I'm in El Paso which literally hugs the border with Mexico. Our sister city had 2601 MURDERS last year, its the most dangerous city in the entire WORLD slightly ahead of Kabul and Mogadisu.
Well – the SOTUS just reaffirmed by belief that
1. The Senate no longers represents the States rights
2. There are no checks and balances between the branches of government – especially any check on the executive
3. The POTUS is on a power trip knowing he can go unchallenged
4. The POTUS understands the meaning of "precedence" in law and how it applies to the Constitution
5. The majority of Democrats are really idiots – standing and clapping at every word that oversteps their enumerated authorities outlined in the Constitution (see #4 above)
6. The majority of Americans that voted for this man voted so to get some kind of financial gain from the gov
7. The Senate does not understand Article II, Section 4 of our Constitution (see #1 above)
8. We will never see a shrinking of the Federal Government in our lifetime short of a bloody revolution
9. People vote with emotion instead of arming themselves with facts and are lazy at the voting booth
Someone needs to re-read the 1st Amendment. I can't find a single reference to "but" or "except for" anywere in it. Either EVERYONE enjoys free speech or no one does. It's as simple as that. McCain/Feingold is the principle reason I found it so hard to support McCain in 2008. (Eventually I did, but it left a very bad taste in my mouth!) I reasoned that if he had that much contempt for the 1st Amendment, imagine how much contempt might he have for the rest of the Bill of Rights.
