Please keep covering these stories. I can't imagine that there wasn't collaboration to affect the coverage and outcome of state elections as well.

JournOlist: It's for their own good, after all, we're saving the country and saving the planet!
TownHOlist: Of course, and imagine what ideas they might come up with if there is variation in the message!
JournOlist: Faux News proves that, look how far off THOSE people get!
TownHOlist: Pitiful, and those people who send their kids to religious school, and all that...
JournOlist: It's a public service, they have no idea how hard we work at saving them confusion.
TownHOlist: But we have to leave a little room, so they believe they are thinking for themselves!
JournOlist: As if they could, what a joke! But we don't want to damage their egos, poor things.
TowhHOlist: No, even if we are misunderstood, we must be compassionate. But we can handle that, after all, we are experienced journalists. All it takes is a little management...

I need some help with this whole issue.
I'm wrestling with the whole idea of "secrecy" and "journalism"

For example, is this Journolist thing more and less honest than the practice of an Administration "managing" the message. I read a story in the WP once where Colin Powell was giving some "tidbit" of news to a reporter, probably part opinion/part truth, and he wasn't willing to stand behind it. The reporter asked something like: "How do you want this attributed?" and Powell said: "Say...it was a Senior Administration Official."

What is the point of that? Isn't that similar to the Journolist in that the reporter is practically colluding with Powell to print Powell's spin on something???

I know I don't get this, any advice?

A great patriot, Patricia Sullivan, is running for Alan Grayson's seat this year. Please help us in Florida by voting for Patricia in Right Klik's Ten Buck Friday poll. http://www.rightklik.net/2010/07/ten-buck-fridays... A poll win means some nice national exposure and a bump in donations. She's an ordinary citizen and tea party organizer trying to win a primary against a handful of establishment-backed candidates, so she can always use some grassroots support. Thanks.

Jeebus! Did this guy graduate from elementary school? I think a 5th grader could have presented a less childish argument. He must have spent all of one minute thinking that up.

Isn't it interesting that the hard core libs find it necessary to maintain super secrecy status in order to converse with each other in an un-fettered medium. Apparently they do realise that the things they say are out of bounds in polite company so it remains necessary to collude and collaborate secretly. They therefore know that there is something wrong with what they are doing, they just don't really care because after all, the normal rules of civility, morality, and professionalism, apply to everyone else but not to them.
