KATIE COURIC: Is it even possible to report the “South Park” incident without offending Muslims?
BRIAN WILLIAMS: Sure. Just remain neutral. Say, “In other news, Comedy Central censored this week’s “South Park” episode to avoid offending Muslims. Next on our broadcast, etc.”
DIANE SAWYER: But there’s no context.
WILLIAMS: When have we ever worried about context? Context is Fox’s thing.

COURIC: Parker and Stone asked for trouble. Religion’s a hot button issue; you’ve got to tread carefully. What’s your lead tonight, Brian?
WILLIAMS: A former priest who claims he facilitated an affair between the Pope and an American cardinal during the last papal election. Both refused requests for interviews to present their side of the story.
SAWYER: Damning. Ours is an exposé of Catholic adoption services. The records show a disproportionate number of children placed in America go to couples who are in the top 25% of income. The agencies deliberately discriminate against couples who can’t support the child. Can you imagine?
WILLIAMS: And they call themselves Christians. It’s like Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac saying, hey, no American dream for you: we’re not going to help you buy a house you can’t afford. What’s up at CBS tonight, Katie?
COURIC: “Celibate Nuns: a Vanishing Breed.”
SAWYER: I’ll say. Who’s on “Meet the Press” Sunday, Brian?
WILLIAMS: Round table: Assad, Ahmadinejad, and Mullah Omar. They’ll discuss the forthcoming fatwa against Matt Stone and Trey Parker and why freedom of speech isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
COURIC: I dunno, Brian — do you have the other side?
WILLIAMS: Sure: Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow and Bill Clinton.
SAWYER: Now that’s what I call fair and balanced.

Don't blame South Park for the sins of their father, for Comedy Central is run by liers. CC offends me, a viewer who unlike many of a certain cult can use a remote control for a tv. As for the media, the ones whom put forth a story on double standards only to slant the story against their political foes, they have become less reliable than the tabloids we pass in the checkout lines.
There is LITTLE chance that Western Hemisphere Media will EVER be objective (re: TRUTHFUL) about the craziness that IS ISLAM.
Islam relegates women to the, at best the 19th century – Katie would padding around her house in the Middle East if she were a Muslim. If she wanted to "worship" Allah, it would be from a segregated area of the mosque, and she would be "greatful" for the opprotunity.
And that's exactly what amazes me. The press had a golden opportunity, with all the noise they were making about the links between the Saudis and the Bush families, to continue on and talk about women's rights (or lack thereof). I wonder what stopped them?
Ya, I don't know. Prince Bandar is or was a very key ally in the 90's, was American educated (very bright guy) and by all acoounts loves America and Americans. He is (or was) a high profile friend of the (NFL) Cowboy's owner Jerry Jones and is/was a big Cowboys fan.
There are foundations for cordial relationships but the rise of non-state (but state sponsored) terror cells have hi-jacked the process. The Bush's haven't denied of lied about friendships with the Royal Saudi family. The U.S. prepostioned forces there (Osama binLaden's original bef with the U.S.) but now the "gulf" seems wider than ever.
direct answerr to your query: the media is GUTLESS. They're cowed by terror. No balls.
MSM…does that mean Mega Socialist Media?
Hilarious. But so close to the truth it's also creepy.
The decision to censor the episode displayed a lack of courage by CC, but its misguided to connect this to an anti-Christian bias by the left. Keep in mind that the point of the episode was to mock Islam for its extreme views, and Jon Stewart's report on this included acknowledgments of respect and gratitude for Christians and Jews (and every other religion besides Islam) for their ability to take criticism without resorting to threats and violence. Everyone can agree that the Islamic religion is wrong in failing to renounce such behavior. An arguably cowardly decision by CC shouldn't be confused with a favorable bias, as they clearly have just the opposite.
No, they think they are among the elite and the rules won't apply to them, after all, they helped the regime to bolster its power. Look at the history of Nazi Germany and Communist Russia. They will be praised by the regime until the state actually takes over then their usefulness will be gone and they will tossed to the side like the rest of us.
Yes, and I wish they did. I just don't see the decision to censor themselves as a bias in favor of Islam because they only did it after hearing death threats aimed at their employees. Fear of something is not bias in its favor. If that was the case, why would they even air a show mocking Islam?
I noticed that FOX has not said anything about this issue. In fact, you will notice that FOX News rarely has anything negative to report regarding Islamic fundamentalists. Why? Because Rupert Murdoch made a deal with Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, a Saudi billionaire who now owns 5.7% of News Corp., the parent company of FOX News. Looks like Breitbart and a few other internet outlets are the last sources of uncensored news.
King Abdullah II is another example of un-abashedly pro-Western, Muslim leader (the guy's a freaking Star Trek nerd for Christ's sake).
You're right about non-state terror cells destroying the process. One can see it with the rise of Yasser Arafat, and continued with Al-Qaeda. It's easy to make peace with a government, but when you're dealing with a people who seek to restore a dead institution like the Caliphate, their really isn't any peace to be had except through force.
I see Nancy Pelosi has come out from under her bridge to troll this comment stream and vote everyone thumbs down.
I know it's supposed to be a parody but it's too frighteningly realistic. It's like you were inside the newsrooms. Keep pounding them Steve – their ratings keep falling. My only worry is that they'll be "too big to fail". Personally I wonder how they can keep their doors open and wonder whose funding them.
Nancy, Laura Ingraham had a debate on the BOR show. Hannity had them on his radio and TV shows yesterday. I don't know it it was on their news as I didn't watch TV today.
True. The other thing is the media can't admit terror is dangerous because that would be admitting Bush was right.
Another bit of irony: the MSM LOVED Trey and Matt when they made fun of Bush and of Catholicism.
Good article. With the obvious MSNBC protocol, this is scarily realistic.
I know this is not an original thought, but the Left is morally and intellectually bankrupt. So we genuflect toward islam, yet denigrate christianity at every turn. Last I checked, christians weren’t hanging gay teens by the neck in the town square to cheering crowds. Sickening.
It's a shame Dan Rather couldn't be a part of this story.
I'm sure it would go like this: "Barack Obama couldn't sell Torahs to Revolution Muslim."
The truth is the left have no balls when it comes to facing down people who will cut you up into little pieces and even give you warning about it. Appeasement to such will only embolden them. Was there an imminent threat against them? How credible was the threat? Did it come from an organization that had the resources to carry out such attacks? A resounding NO! They caved, plain and simple.
Thanks for letting me know, Annie. I love Laura Ingraham because she is fearless. Hannity is as well. I was very concerned when people like Charles Krauthammer and others on "Special Report" and BOR don't stand by people like Geert Wilders, whom they seem to think is too extreme. But maybe there is hope that FOX will still be "fair and balanced."
The one thing that has happened since 9-11 is that the true nature of the current political left has been laid bare- they can't hide their tendency toward appeasement, their cowardice, their juvenile belief that if we just show radical Islam respect, they'll leave us alone, and so on. They are finding out how utterly devoid of reality their worldview is. They are fast to attack people who won't fight back, but lick the boots (or sandals) of those who could really do us harm. What they don't seem to get is that Islam is not built on a worldview shaped by Judeo/Christianity, Greek philosophy and Roman government. While we embrace concepts like equality, mercy, fairness, helping the weak, and forgiveness, they do not. They see these traits as weaknesses to be exploited. The truly ironic thing is that if Islamic radicals ever took over, these leftists would be the first to be killed. If they think Christians are racist bigot homphobes, wait until they get a load of the Taliban.
LOL – this is excellent.
On serious note: do these MSM people not have any concept of what their lives will be like under the new USA regime, should it succeed, that they support?
Bullshit dude, it is bias. If Islam is being hyjacked by fanatics, would not this be the time to be fair to desensitize the rational followers.
Too funny, Rooney. Say, are you a neighbor of that guy named Al? You know, the one that scored 4 TDs?
The left is already "anti-Christian" to begin with so while this parody of the MSN is just that; a parody on headline news intro, anyone can see it's place in the article. I don't see anyone here being mislead or misguided by the censoring of the show.
Traditionally, Christians and Jews will would "pray" for the sinner as opposed to retribution. The left continues to mock the two religions for their own entertainment, fame, ratings…..whatever. They take advantage of the "meek shall inherit" saying and figure go ahead and mess with this group of folks. They figure it's cool to mock the religion while failing to realize they insult the followers, until you get into the muslim thing! Those are followers you DON'T want to f**k with. They'll cut your head off and shit.
Comedy Central pussed out. And the left will continue their anti-Christian/Jew biases. It's called "status quo" or "appeasement".
I agree. Or else I think that they really do not get it and do not see the "elite" side of it coming.
Don't know what your talking about, but Bill O'Reilly covered both episodes on his show this week. I watched him discuss the first episode and apparently on Thursday night discussed the second-this info coming from my dad.
isn't it hilarious that the left is so insane they actually like Islam? And, how about these lefty women's organizations, they never state any criticism of islam despite the universally acknowledged fact that Islam treats women like objects of plunder. The left will embrace islam out of its hatred for Christianity, and islam will play along. They are so stupid.
They should follow the way of the bodhisatva Lenny Bruce, for if you want to take away the evil of something you reject it by use to take away it's power.
The Bias of the left towards Islam is as apparent as lice on rats. Their poligimous marriages are allowed, they enforce a form shiria (which keeps extending in reach), Muslim prayer rooms in school (good luck saying Jesus in school), school textbooks that accept muslim religious teaching as true and Christian ones "supposed" or a "myth", the acceptance of the concept of Muslim lands (Ummahs) and a rejection of Christian Western land (where western religion and customs should pravail), allow Islamic training camps (in Islmaberg NY and somewhere in Oklahoma) while they kill christian communities (Waco) and arrest Christian Militia (who were practicing their constitutionally protected rights, a did not bring their supposed conspiricy to the point of being an active and viable criminal act). I could go on but I think you got the point
How did you get in on the White House talking points phone call and why did you redact their part of the call?
I don't understand the "offending Muslims" debate at all. When has concern about offending Christians or Jews or conservatives or liberals or Republicans or Democrats or Tea Partiers or anti-war advocates ever prevented Americans from reporting a story, advancing a political agenda or entertaining us? When we generalize in profiling any group – which we always do when trying to make a point – it offends those members of the group who don't fit the profile. So why turn ourselves inside out to provide the satin-pillow treatment to Muslims? Perhaps because we fear whatever it is that encourages parents to use their own children as human shields, while others train theirs to become murdering machines intent on destroying us.
This would be hilarious if it's not exactly what is going on.
Speaking of Pelosi…

Chewbacca: Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrgh!
C-3PO: He made a fair move. Screaming about it can't help you.
Han Solo: Let him have it. It's not wise to upset a Wookiee.
C-3PO: But sir, nobody worries about upsetting a droid.
Han Solo: That's 'cause droids don't pull people's arms out of their sockets when they lose. Wookiees are known to do that.
Chewbacca: Grrf.
C-3PO: I see your point, sir. I suggest a new strategy, R2: let the Wookiee win.
Very good text. I’ve found your blog via Bing and I’m really happy about the information you provide in your articles. Btw your blogs layout is really broken on the Kmelon browser. Would be cool if you could fix that. Anyhow keep up the good work!
