Even in defeat, the hacks and non-entities at Media Matters — led by the embarrassingly humorless head hack, Eric Boehlert– just can’t write a story about James O’Keefe without letting their bias and contempt for him get in the way of the truth. But what else is new?
Just as in their original post on the affair in New Orleans: O’Keefe reportedly arrested by FBI in alleged “plot to wiretap” senator’s office, Media Matters and the rest of the left-wing media had been salivating over the prospect of seeing O’Keefe behind bars for a “wire-tapping” crime. Of course, the facts of the case, publicly available from the moment Media Matters and their blood brothers at MSNBC began “reporting” the story, have never supported the fantasy that O’Keefe’s prank was some sort of Watergate style break-in or wiretapping, or bugging or anything resembling a serious felony.
But a perusal of the headlines at Media Matters gives us some great insight to how they’ve been desperate to make O’Keefe our generation’s Bernard Barker, and Breitbart his Richard Nixon.

Alleged wiretap plotter O’Keefe tweets “I am a journalist. The truth shall set me free”
TPM: Alleged phone bug crew came from conservative campus journalism world
FDL blogger: O’Keefe’s statement is riddled with falsehoods
Media Matters‘ Frisch: “What did Breitbart and Fox News know and when did they know it?”
In the three days following O’Keefe’s arrest, Media Matters posted no fewer than fifty-three separate articles about the arrest. FIFTY-THREE!
It takes a lot of Senior Fellows and Soros greenbacks to handle all of that spin. You think with an investment of time and resources like that, the “non-profit media watch-dog group” — which in actuality is a shill for various hard-left causes — had a vested interest in O’Keefe’s serving some jail time on a major felony? You think they might be a little disappointed that the facts of the case turned out to produce nothing more than a plea-bargain misdemeanor with no time served?
So after a flurry of tweets on his oh-so witty Twitter account, “Senior Fellow” Eric Boehlert devoted precious space at David Brock’s web site (conservative-turned-liberal David Brock is Eric Boehlert’s boss, by the way) to one last attempt to spin this into a victory for his pathetic organization.

David Brock
True to form, his post is full of inconsistencies and half-truths.. wait, not even half-truths… I’ll give him a quarter of a truth. Here’s his big “Get” in his post (Yes, unlike MMFA, we pull quotes in their entirety):
One of the more comical claims that Breitbart made during his desperate attempts at spin control last winter was to attack New Orleans law enforcement. as well as the Dept. of Justice and even Attorney General Eric Holder, and claim there were all in a wide-ranging conspiracy to frame O’Keefe. (Because he’s just that important!)
Of course, the U.S. Attorney’s office for the Eastern District in Louisiana denied the absurd charge.
But now that O’Keefe has admitted his guilt, isn’t it time for to apologize? After all, if O’Keefe really had been framed, why would he plead guilty? His guilty plea basically demolishes Breitbart’s crazy cover-up talk from last winter.

Boehlert knows that his lazy lefty readers are either too trusting of him, or too brain-washed to follow his links. I, however, do not fall into that category — that’s right loyal Big Journalism readers, I read Media Matters so you don’t have to. When you click his first link purporting to show Breitbart’s “wide-ranging conspiracy,” you get directed to another semi-coherent MMFA post that does the conspiracy-theory concocting on Breitbart’s behalf! The only link in the post points to an actual quote of Breitbart’s, in which he assets that James O’Keefe was held in jail without access to an attorney.
Boehlert then tries to make it appear that the U.S. Attorney’s office denied the charge. When you click on the link Boehlert provides as proof of the U.S. Attorney’s denial, you get another MMFA post that pulls liberally from TPM Muckracker. It details Breitbart’s appearance on Megyn Kelly’s show, on which he made the charge about O’Keefe’s sitting in jail without access to an attorney and the government’s leaking information about the case to the press. Kelly asks about the U.S. Attorney’s motivations to do that:
“Well, it’s tied to the Justice Department. And we’ve been very aggressive in asking Eric Holder to investigate what’s seen on the ACORN tapes, and he’s ignored it.”
Which brings us to the big “get” from Boehlert’s piece today. The whole point of his post is to say that Breitbart owes the U.S. Attorney’s office an apology for claiming that O’Keefe was held in jail without an attorney and that they leaked information to the press about the case. And Boehlert’s entire point hinges on two facts, 1) O’Keefe pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor and 2) the U.S. Attorney denied Breitbart’s claims.
Here is the “denial” from the US Attorney:
Jan Mann, first assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Louisiana, said: “The suggestion that he makes about the motivations of our office are untrue. We’re not going to try this case in the press. But we deny the accusations about our office.”
The motivations? The U..S Attorney’s office is denying Breitbart’s accusation about its motivations? That’s Boehlert’s big “get”?
Maybe he should take a look at this and think again.
Nowhere, anywhere, has anyone at any time denied that O’Keefe sat in jail for hours without access to an attorney. Nowhere. And Boehlert knows it. But it doesn’t keep him from misleading his readers (who at this point are pretty much down to the producers and hosts of the MSNBC prime-time line-up).
Going back on those headlines from MMFA’s coverage of this affair, I did stumble upon one that actually came close to the truth. Of course, at the time they meant it ironcially:
Breitbart: “I predict there will be tape to vindicate these four pranksters.”

Boy, whaddaya expect from the dems/progressives or the media outlets they control?
The truth, honesty, or integrity?
No way!
I apologize for being totally off topic, but I have been waiting in vain for a story about the
approval–29 – 1–of the mosque at ground zero.
Does anyone have any doubt that if KSM is indeed tried in NYC that a "jury of his peers" will be found and that he will walk? He will probably end up selling hot dogs on the street outside the mosque.
Blowhard is just a li'l bitch that couldn't hold his own in the real world. Soros is a Socialist Hungarian that is pissed the the Soviet Union fell, his financial scams and criminal activity would have him executed in his native country.
These people couldn't get a story right if hoggie smacked in the face, well Blowhard would like that especially if it was Soros.
I know, wrong Big site, but we need a Gutfeld Robot Theater to go with this story.
After reading O'Connors' description of the Media Matters maze of links, I can only conclude that the left's rule of journalism is no longer 'how' and the four Ws but is instead 'If your can't dazzle 'em with brilliance, baffle 'em with bullshit'.
Media Matters is a Left Wing Propaganda outfit…
It is their sole reason to exist. Whereas Mr Breitbart and the BigHollywood/Journalism/Government nexus is a legit journalistic enterprise. Conservative in nature, sure- but a legitimate contender. David Brock, the former so-called conservative who has come out of the closet (in more ways than one) as a neo-leftist, is a wholly owned subsidiary
of George Soros and the international cartel.
Their raisson d'etre' is to spread anti capitalist, anti US sentiment. Period. Not even DNC talking points; this is far to the left of that as well. Believe absolutely nothing that emanates from them; even the truth will be twisted and spun for agendas. Nothing on the conservative side even comes close.
CERTAINLY not BigHollywood…
George Soros should have a bounty on his head to bring him back to France to be rightfully imprisoned on his convictions for market manipulation and racketeering.
If the price was right somebody would put him back where he belongs, BEHIND BARS!
The problem is that the left knows it is spreading disinformation, but it is relying on the apathy of the average person. What becomes the truth when people are unconcerned with what the truth is. This is the new push in the media: a world without solid truth.
I cannot imagine what it must be like to live it the fraudulent, deceitful, and corrupt world of the LEFT.
Every waking moment, these smug followers of MMfA and HufPo, walk around in a deluded daze of mis-information, lies, and demagoguery, thinking they have all the answers to all problems as they watch their sick world spin out of control with MR. Obama at the helm…
The coming crash landing may remove the fog from the some but I'm afraid many of the remaining sick progs must be either be quarantined in perpetuity or ignored..
That would be sweet, but that's ALOT of duckies!! Problem would be finding a conservative on the other side of the pond with enough clout to do it. Good luck with that, rich conservatives are pretty rare over there.
I don't care which side of the pond we find a financeer on so long as they can pay some damn good 'mercs' a damn good amount of cash to get the job done!
Oh, I'm with you now, I thought you meant all legal and stuff. You gotta watch us coonasses, we ain't too bright!
Media Bladders would be a bigger joke if they weren't able to spread so much propaganda and cause so much trouble.
Shouldn't Soros be jailed as a NAZI War Criminal? He was complicite of helping the NAZI's identify homes of Hungarian Jews and which houses were best to plunder after the owners were transported to NAZI Death Camps. Why is he stalking the earth, destroying people's lives, and world currency markets?
53 stories… wow… that's friggin sad.
"Legal" just an "op" to put the crook back behind bars for the good of all mankind!
PERMANENTLY!
Tru dat, but you know, if it wasn't him it would be some other degenerate. We must now remain ever vigilant, now that we have awaken.
There are always more bad actors waiting in the wings but taking this particular one down would be a massive blow to their agenda!
Especially ones with seemingly un-ending amounts of cash. Damn him!!!
Hey, I'm fairly new to the Bigs and havent really looked into the whole point system thing. Are the points tied directly to the thumbs up? I keep getting positive numbers but seem to be stuck on around 62. Don't care that much, just curious?
I don't really know, I've been posting for over a year and a half and I have a 123 but I know a few people that have only been posting for six months and have 140…?
I really am not concerned about my points either, they really don't matter in the grand scheme of things, I get as many +s as I do -s so go figure….
If there's no cash incentive tied to it I guess it really doesn't matter. Just curious. Oops, better watch it, I might be accused of being a heartless, racist, evil capitalist or something.
I really do enjoy keeping my sarcastic side sharp on here though. It helps dealing with sub-contractors all day.
Yep. That Soros is a peach.
I am SURE he is not heavily investing in those secretive Credit Default Swaps ~ betting that he makes money coming and going over the Communist riots in Greece ~ and picking the U.S. taxpayers' wallets both ways.
What a piece of trash.
It was "Watergate Jr." or "wire tapping" or "listening device" or "break in/burglary" framed as mobster, thugshttp://tinyurl.com/398nleq heisting and conspiring a nefarious crime against society. But, this egreeeeeegious' crime wound up being a cell phone video looking to expose the truth which could have been at any establishment. The federal building was sheer happenstance!
Reality sets in again for MSNBC, MMFA, OSM (Old School Media) and Barack's cabal…false narratives, obfuscation, red herrings and race mongering.

grapejelly, I'll try to offer a little assistance regarding the ratings.
The scores are not based solely on thumbs up or down. There are a lot of factors taken into account. When an administrator has to delete a comment, that hurts your progress, and multiple thumbs down can affect it as well.
Some people don't bother with the thumbs up or down, but when they "converse" with you a lot – and don't ever give a thumbs up, then that hurts your score over time. Ditto for when there are lots of "replies," but few thumbs up.
Even though some people like Missy8s don't concern themselves with ratings, there is a very valid reason for them. If you check up where the comments start, there is a "Sort By" line, and one of the buttons is "Ratings." Click that and then see what happens.
Some people sort the comments by ratings, and only read the ones from commenters with higher ratings. That may not be as handy now that there will not be anonymous commenters, but it used to help weed out the silly stuff, although you would miss the good newbies.
Hope that helped some.
This just in: All American laws regarding the torture and subsequent assassination of George Soros and his subordinates have been suspended. (Pretty sure I heard it somewhere, anyway have fun fellas and don't forget your camcorder).
Behind bars? How about rotting in the woods with pools of urine filling the holes in his head. George Soros deserves any retribution a person could give him. He's a nazi; still is.
Thanks for the explanation TR. It is important to have the approval of your peers, everyone likes to think that their opinion is valuable. Especially with the way things are now, we all need to stick together and keep each other as informed as we possibly can.
I guess I'm a bit of an optimist but there's always a light at the end of the tunnel, the light is dim but it burns with hope. Maybe we needed all this garbage at this point in our history to help bring the comon folks back together to fight the enemy within.
If he didn't have friends in high places, he wouldn't even have a head.
Why is he even alive?
I'm sighting in my Barrett right now.
do you think if we introduced Eric, Oliver and the gang to girls things would begin to turn around for Media Mutters?

Tex,
I also noticed that some folks with very negative comments (like 60 thumbs down) had overall positive ratings — so i figured the total rating — it must related to the ratings of all the repliers' comments as well.
Good point.
I think that the algorithm is also influenced by how long the commenter has been active, how many comments they have made, how long each comment was (don't know if length adds or subtracts), and how many of the different ID sites the commenter frequents.
Officially, it's still a mystery.
I will try to keep your optimism in mind when I read the daily news in the mornings.
The number of replies garnered also affect the score. The best way to keep a score down for a troll is to ignore them…thus depriving them of a score bump.
As the score becomes higher, thumbs up or down have less influence on overall score than number of comments made and number of replies to comments.
If a troll makes a super offensive post and 300 people make negative replies and give thumbs down, the net effect is that the trolls score actually goes up. It's not a perfect system, but reviewing a couple of random pages of the persons profile will give you an accurate idea of who you are dealing with.
Hope this helps.
