Washington Post blogger and left-wing Journo-List founder Ezra Klein made a curious admission on MSNBC today:

Forgetting the obvious slams that could be made at young Mr. Klein with regard to his youthful ignorance of any bit of important American culture that predates ‘N Sync, I’d instead like to thank Ezra for providing evidence of one of the basic, principled differences between the right and the left: Conservatives still look to our country’s founding documents to guide their political and legislative agendas and the left just does what they want and then tries to force it through because working within the confines of the Constitution is just “too hard.”
Think I’m exaggerating? Take a look at this fine bit of work from The Right Place, a citizen journalist who provides a liberal’s interpretation of the Constitution:

The fact is, Ezra Klein and all the other brilliant liberals on the left need to face the fact that what they want to do with this country just doesn’t fit into the way the founders designed our government and defined the states’ and citizens’ rights.
For the radical, “Big f-ing Deal,” fundamental transformation of our country, they need to do the one thing that the very old and hard to understand Constitution allows them to do: Pass an amendment. Until then, Mr. Klein, I hope you tune in to the first day of the 112th Congress and listen carefully to the U.S. Constitution. You may learn something, young man. Now, get off my lawn!

I watched the video a couple of times. I think he was referring to the READING of the Constitution into the record – that that had no binding power. That response came after the interviewer asking him about how the new Congress is going to read the Constitution into the record on their first day.
And he's probably right. It doesn't mean anything to read it into the record, as technically speaking and regardless of what the Left thinks, the Constitution is the Supreme Law of the Land. So it's binding, whether they like it or not.

Actually, they show up on Fox very often, including the Judge. Well, he's more libertarian, but still. There are lawyers who are on the right. Add Larry Elder and Mark Levin as well.

What set me off was his attitude that the congress actually read whats in the Constitution is waste of time. I'd bet five large no more than two or three people in Washington have the slightest idea what the Constitution is other than a political prop.
Unfortunately, I have not heard them admit their conservatism on FOX or FOX Business. Then again my hearing is going to pot as the rest of me. But it nice to know that there are some. Just wish there were more in congress and government in general.

I think the drones probably don't think about the Constitution at all and are essentially ignorant. But I think that the higher ups know exactly what they are doing – they know that they are subverting it and they have been teaching us that it's okay to do that with the whole "living document" crap for 100 years.
Judge Napolitano (as opposed to Janet) is definitely a libertarian. Megyn Kelly is an attorney and definitely conservative and I know a few others that show up. While they may not say "conservative attorney", their POVs make it clear that they are.

I have always felt that libertarians are far right conservatives. I am a conservative but not a rino. Although I like the judge and even Stossle. At times they push the right edge of conservatism. I would consider myself more of one who believes in the Constitution, Bill of rights, Amendments, and law. I also accept and believe in the TEA party movement.
Yes they are. I think together they compliment each other, keeping the other one in check, keeping us from falling into anarchy or getting sucked into right wing progressivism (legislating morality). But they also compliment each other on the foreign policy front – conservatives will make sure we do fight; libertarians will make sure we do it for the right reasons and not just to "regime change"

Fact is, the Constitution IS a confusing document — if you're a leftist like Ezra "Whiz Kid" Klein. They don't believe in the meaning of words. They believe in penumbras and emanations and other legalistic apparitions. If you accepted the pretzel logic of hundreds of liberal judges mangling the Constitution until it's twisted beyond recognition, you'd be confused too.
We need a legal revolution in this country, one that sweeps away the detritus of 200 years of judicial activism (beginning with Marbury v. Madison) and begins anew, with the plain meaning of the Constitution itself, rather than the tortuous game of telephone that is modern Constitutional law.

Armed conflict is a cop-out for now, you need first to do the heavy lifting of educating voters and state politicians (who have supreme power to nullify unconstitutional federal laws and reject federal funds) before you can resort to armed conflict. We're not out of peaceful options, the fact is that we haven't even used our peaceful options! We've been hiding behind rocks and begging the federal courts for crumbs!

SonsofLiberty, I hope you're right about our military. However, our representatives across the nation have ALSO taken oaths to uphold the Constitution as well, and we see what has happened there. You know something?, maybe he's right? Now before you get into a snit, let me explain. If the constitution is (too old) and (too hard) to understand, then so are all the laws on the books as well. After all, the laws are written in legalese while the constitution is written in plain english. So, by his reasoning, we all should just do what ever the hell we want, after all, I can't understand all the laws so they are, in effect, null and void.
Although I find it hard to understand how he could find it confusing I find that the first of his two characteristics of the Constitution "…it has no binding power on anything…" is more revealing.
If the Constitution has no binding power on anything why have one at all? Why take an oath on it? A glance at current laws would actually serve to justify his point. We either have a government that is willfully defying the people by not fulfilling their contract (the Constitution), or the government is no longer a constitutional republic.
I commend you for your insight into the progressives. Very rarely nowadays is anyone talking about this, even on so-called conservative websites. Most have bought the lie that the U.S. is still capitalist and that what the progressives want is socialism.
In the U.S. industry is controlled (or owned) by the government and people receive benefits based largely on merit, this is the definition of socialism. The progressives endorse the government owning/controlling industry in the name of the people with distribution of goods and services based on need. this is the definition of communism.
