King Leonidas punctuated his epic resistance to the Persian horde by responding to Xerxes’ demand that the Three Hundred Spartans surrender their weapons. Molon labe! … “Come and take them!” Our senators and representatives should respond in kind to President Obama’s demand for their votes on his epochal healthcare takeover.
For much of a year … longer that most would have predicted … a vastly outnumbered force of 218 Republican congressmen and senators – prodded, poked and arm-twisted by the most powerful grassroots movement of our generation and egged on my its cheerleaders in the Mainstream Media – has withstood the Xerxian onslaught that is Obamacare. And like Leonidas, Obamacare opponents know more is at stake than this single battle.

As important as the outcome is the manner in which this battle is waged. A courageous and principled stand against overwhelming odds historically evokes sympathy and support by an otherwise unengaged populace – witness Thermopylae, the Alamo, Rorke’s Drift, to name a few.
Do not misunderstand, I hope for victory in the health care battle and believe it can be achieved, but also like Leonidas, I am mindful that other battles loom, whether they be cap-and-trade, immigration reform, health care 2.0 (the “public option”) or the elections in 2010, 2012 and beyond. And how we fight matters.
Obama’s recent “summit” showed Republicans as learned and sincere, while revealing Democrats as often terse or arrogant (“I don’t count my time because I’m the President”). People may not understand every detail, but they do understand sincerity, and the old adage still remains true that if you can fake sincerity, you’ve got it made.

And Democrats are clearly faking sincerity. Just look at how they have collected their votes – Louisiana Purchases, Cornhusker Kickbacks, judicial appointments, late-night deals on Christmas Eve, of all days. Votes achieved without principle and without honor, as if assembling an army of mercenaries to fight against citizen-soldiers.
And this is my message to senators and representatives of either party when Obama/Reid/Pelosi demand your vote, offer you favors (read bribes), threaten you, cajole, wine-and-dine you … stand your ground! Better men and women have stood up against far worse in order to preserve the great liberty and freedoms our nation enjoys.

And if healthcare passes, recall the words of Leonidas, at least as imagined by the screenwriters of the hit movie, 300:
No retreat, no surrender; that is Spartan lore. And by Spartan lore we will stand and fight… A new age has begun. An age of freedom, and all will know, that 300 Spartans gave their last breath to defend it!

And had it not been for those 300, democracy would have been wiped out by the Persians, and freedom would never have been realized.
Without the shedding of blood there is no freedom.
It's time to stand up for what is right, regardless of the costs.
Stay on the Wall. Better men and women have already paid the ultimate price for freedom and to do less under the safety they have provided to all Americans would dishonor their sacrifice. This is the ultimate battle for freedom and choice. Spartans have nothing on Americans when we are united to fight for our Freedom.
I have one disagreement with you on this article. That is where you hope obamacare passes. Do you realize that the government will screw you if you have their insurance and have to file a claim or are you thinking it'll rainbows and lollipops? Anything the government is involved with isn't rainbows and lollipops. It's nothing but a corrupted power grab to destroy all freedoms granted to the American Citizens granted to them by their Creator as notated in the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights.
Best comment I've seen, ever.
And try not to forget, those 300 got their asses kicked due to a betrayal from their own ranks. But even after that when all was seemingly lost, the rest of the Spartans came out to play, and after a year or so of fighting for their lives, won. If we lose at Thermopylae, Plataea awaits.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Plataea
By God this Despotism will not stand. At some point we will have give up or stand up and say, " no mas". I didn't fight marxism in Vietnam to be governed by these tyrants!
I guess I was not clear enough.
"The Bamessiah and his minions must be stopped. Obamacare will destroy America."
Stay On The Wall
Thermopylae and the Alamo, where great and brave fighters put up a valiant defense, were ultimately lost to the ravishing overwhelming ( unDemocratic) hoards.
Even having men like Jim Bowie (Paul Ryan) and Davey Crockett (Eric Cantor), on our side, hardly guarantees victory. But I like the odds more each day…
I could not agree with you more especially about the odds. On the darkest day we fight the hardest. Now that the cockroaches have finally come out in the light of day and clearly stated their true intentions – they will be handily defeated and driven back under the rocks they crawl out from under in darkenss for generations. All things happen for a reason and the Bamessiah will be the lesson for future generations.
I partly disagree with the premise of this article. I think it's the same mindset that gave us wimpy McCain- be sincere, be respectful so you don't offend the independents. Show the public that we play nicer in the sandbox than Dems and people will automatically flock to us.
Meanwhile our enemies are out there loudly trumpeting that conservatives only care about rich people and insurance companies, that they sell their grandmothers for money and eat babies. What makes us think that sincerity is enough to cut through this B.S.? Why do we have to accept liberals premise that conservatives are mean and need to make extra efforts to prove they are nice and/or sincere?
Sincerity is certainly a positive trait in a politician, but it isn't enough if you're a doormat. Instead of trying to prove to people who think we're the devil's spawn that we really aren't evil, we ought to be calling them on their false accusations- hard and loud and long.
I want to see conservative who kick butt and take names- like Marco Rubio is doing right now, and Colonel West running for congress in Florida. These guys are both bold and sincere- I think that's a winning combination.
Wonderful article!
After reading the article again (sorry it's early and I'm still sleepy), I have to withdraw some of my complaint with it. The author does make an excellent point about the Dems fake sincerity versus genuine sincerity. And she certainly does call on us to fight for our principles. But I still feel an underlying tone about Repubs being "nice" that I am possibly oversensitive too because of things I've heard so often from other conservative commentators.
Great article. I feel like we are in our last battle for America. These progressives have a plan that is so totally foreign to the America of our past and the America of my dreams. It is a state with a few controlling every aspect of our lives, did you hear Nancy talk about the bill is not about health care it is about our future, it is about diet, not diabeties. They plan to control our health by controlling what we eat, where we live, how we live, and how we spend our money. No, wait a minute, it is about how they spend our money, they will have it all.
Surely, there must be 300 in Congress who can mimic these 300 Spartans. What a noble way to be known.
Crockett was okay for a Kentuckian.
Tex…
I believe he "was born on a mountain top in Tennessee, lost his mother when he was only three, raised in the woods……."
NO RETREAT, NO SURRENDER!
What would a dedicated enemy do to take down America? WWII and the cold war showed it could not be done by direct force or intimidation, so the next attempt is to do it internally. Weaken the things that make America strong, abandon our allies, attack the strength of the dollar, nationalize key businesses, socialize health care, and subject a society that supports freedom and the rights of all citizens to Marxism.
Most Americans don't realize we have elected a president whom we know very little about. Researchers have discovered that Obama's autobiographical books are little more than PR stunts, as they have little to do with the actual events of his life. The fact is we know less about President Obama than any other president in American history and much of this is due to actual efforts to hide his record.

Is that a picture of Chris Matthews showing us his tingling leg?
Obamcare is nothing more than the final act in the entitlement scheme the progressives have planned for the last 80 years and everyone seems to have bought into it, including the conservatives, so please stop with "we'll fight this to the end" rhetoric and give some serious thought to where we are today. See, you can't be for Social Security, Medicare and the alphabet soup of 'entitlement" programs and be against Obamacare, and that's been the argument by the progressives against the so-called right and it's laughable when tea-partiers(not that I have anything against them)try to defend themselves against charges of hypocrisy. Either you accept that you have bought into this, or reject ALL entitlements. You can't have it both ways.
This is the most corrupt, unethical, and dangerous Administration and Congress in US history.
Matthews would help the 300 rebuild the wall, I'm sure.
Social Security should have been phased out following WWII. It was enacted (and rightly so) during the Great Depression to prevent mass starvation of the elderly. Once the economy recovered (no thanks to FDR, who delayed recovery with his wage and price controls), we should have gone back to SAVING for our own retirement.
You do highlight a good point, however, which is that once an entitlement has been enacted, it is very hard to get rid of it, no matter how much damage it does to the country and to our future.
Who is this man?
I was raised in one country but my father was born in another. My mother died at an early age from cancer. Later in life, questions arose over my real name. My birth records were sketchy and no one was able to produce a reliable birth certificate.
I wrote a book about my struggles growing up. It was clear to those who read my memoirs that I had difficulties accepting that my father abandoned me as a child.
I became active in local politics when I was in my 30s and then burst onto the scene as a candidate for national office when I was in my 40s. I had a virtually non-existent resume and very little work history. I was a powerful speaker who managed to draw incredibly large crowds during my public appearances.

Good grief. She wrote that she hopes for victory in the fight against Obamacare. I know life is busy and complicated, but please take time to read for comprehension.
I have a few chills.. it makes you think of America dying a slow death. Of what she was and is becoming….we are left to feel just about hopeless as we are forced to stand at the sidelines watching her be destroyed from within..
Yes we fight on, our voices are heard, our posts and letters are read. Our calls are taken and we stand and speak out at town halls.
Only to be brushed aside and labeled as.. terrorists, Neo-cons, Nazi's and heartless.. by the terrorists, neo-nuts Liberals and heartless un American's..
God Bless and Keep America
By the way, Susan, thanks for not mixing languages, by properly using "battle royal". That is the English form. The French say "battaille royale". A lot of folks, especially in the media, now say, incorrectly, "battle royale".
Hey you old koot, you be cuttin' an pastin' again?
I think this is the 5th time I seen this same crap from you…
You really be a demented old fool, sittin' on the front porch wit a shotgun on his lap…you like Clint Eastwood in GranTorino…
America, and the world will have to re-learn the lessons of old.
And at the end of the day, the world will finally recognize that free and good people stood against tyrany, and that before this battle is over even those who think their ways to be as a god-king are as mortal and as fleeting as their stupid ideals, soon to be exposed for the fraud and un-American ways they are.
Certainly, many good men and women will give their lives, lose their voice in society, and be lost against the empire of progressivism/liberalism.
But Thermopylae and Plataea are coming, and soon. They cannot stand good free men and women daring to stand up against their tyranny for much longer, before they amass their assault for fear of losing it all.
History repeats.
May we learn to not repeat the errors of the past, nor give voice to those forces again.
The bill will pass.
The Dems are really not afraid of any of us.
Because when the right wing fringe element rises-up, (the Dems are banking on it!) Barry O'Bama will call out the military to squash them and declare martial law.
Under the guise of "dangerous intimidation," Dems will be afraid to campaign because the righties will hurt them.
Obama will "reluctantly" have to cancel the November elections to "make it fair for the Dems."
With both houses intact, Obama will turn to Cap & Trade to apply the icing on the cake. Under the stress of taxes and health care costs, American businesses will fail. Unemployment will soar. More foreclosures.
Complete and utter collapse.
Cloward-Piven: by-the-book.
Obama will have succeeded in is "fundamental changing of America." Ultimately, we will work for the government and travel freely to Cuba — but not to the UK or Israel.
.
Obama will order his monument to be constructed next to Lincoln's. But his will be bigger and taller.

Sparta was a society that ran on slavery. The warriors sat on their butts, except when they were taking tribute from the slaves that did the work. Sparta was also one the most homosexual societies that ever existed. A wife would have to shave her head and pretend to be a boy to get her husband to look at her. Sparta was completely socialist. Children were taken from their parents at an early age and raised by the state. And Spartans were religious fanatics. While the Athenians were whupping the Persians at Marathon, the Spartans were off praying.
Sparta was a society of homosexual socialist slaver cultists, sort of like a gay North Korea. Naturally, conservatives identify strongly with Sparta. We liberals identify more with the democratic Athenians. The Athenians had their setbacks, but rallied on land and sea, and sent the Persians packing (in an alliance with the Spartans and the lesser Greek cities).

One major problem I always see is how often the 0bama/Pelosi/Reid triad succeeds in swaddling their spawn in warm fuzzy terms such as "Health Care Reform" – who wouldn't like that? Then 0/P/R defends its latest baby gorilla by claiming polls show that the "people" support its individual parts. Sure, who wouldn't like free ice cream every Sunday? But 0/P/R cunningly fails to mention the mandatory root canal on Thursdays and the required colonoscopy every other day. The best strategy We The People can adopt is to never oppose 0/P/R but rather always promote a specific alternative with a different name (e.g., Health for Life).

In large measure we have George W. Bush and McCain to thank for our current situation. Bush for never saying "No" to any program/budget increase and McCain for playing nice in the arena of deadly politics. Together they formed the coalition of cowards. Obama and his fellow travelers will eventually pay a price for their attempts to destroy what was once the greatest form of government known to all free peoples of the world. Sadly, the damage they are and will create will take generations to destroy and remake. I wonder, when the time to take action with force comes, and it is coming, who will be ready to make the ultimate sacrifice.
This is funny.
Bush spent like he was a Democrat.
We have to remember that for every spending bill Bush encouraged, Democrats wanted to spend MORE than what was asked. The only exception to that is for spending on national defense.
For example, Bush increased federal spending on education by 70%. Democrats asked for several times that increase.
So no, you can't blame Bush for everything.
Also, remember that Democrats have had complete control of Congress for the last 37 months (including the last two years of Bush's time in office). And that's when the deficit increased.
BTW, all spending bills originate in the House.
So say thank you to the Democrats for the current deficit situation.
OK although I understand what you are saying you have it wrong; 180 degrees out. The Progressives are the 300 and we the people are the vast army they are fighting against. This time our vast army are the good guys protecting away of life. None of the Republicans are worthy of the respect you give them.
Speaking of corruption. I have a a few ideas, I know I should be pushing it with my local reps. I do. They do listen when I write and call, but rarely offer anything other than a sympathetic ear and a thank you for contacting them with my concerns..
Campaign finance paybacks
What if we demanded the following at the very least.. First let me say I know, I do believe we do have something in writing that is intended to prevent any one group or individual from benefiting financially from volunteer work, donations or services provided to ANY candidate. Yeah. That is working out well..
You wouldn't think so. So I propose we demand that it is enforced or legislation written more clearly for the reading and comprehension impaired.
IF a candidate, ANY candidate, has accepted any support such as SEIU, Acorn and all their affiliates, NAACP. Business or Corporation. Honestly, on either side of the aisle, any funds from any individual (Soros comes to mind) any interest group, or cause. Including religious fanatics. I have a moral conscious but I also have a brain.
The successfully elected administration while in office cannot allow ANY funding, or in this present case stim-pak, to be perceived as a pay back. Whether directly, or indirectly, in any way filtered, or sub contracted, period.
All candidates sign on to this and understand this disclaimer : Enforced and Punishable by forfeit, impeachment or they are simply withdrawn as no longer legally entitled to hold that office, next .
No funds what-so-ever directed to any entity or individual that in any way got the bums in office.
Either we will finally clean up the financing of these elections to garner awards, or we will die. Groups such as SEIU- Health care to save their health and welfare funds. La Raza backdoor meetings for their taking back a quarter of America..through immigration reform.. hmmm.. ( How did we EVER allow funding for THAT group)
The window company, the $2000 dollar a window business, awarded some GREEN contract funded by you know who, an officer with the company's wifey is in the administration.
Let every contributor know they need to get in line and appeal to the PEOPLE for change, help, support or funds directed to something that All Americans benefit from. Period.
No federal funds shall be directed to any group or cause that we as a whole do not benefit from.
Hmm ..seems we would only be paying for our own poor, in time of need, our elderly, through medicare and Social Security, Our Military and Border Patrol for protection and yes some Education, I imagine a few more things. But get the politics out, no group or entity should have federal funding.
The Arts we support by attending museums, galleries, and commission works. If its your cause you fund it. Special this and that I am sorry but if you look at the number of non-profits. That is big business we are in some way or form funding.
Looks like we get to keep NASA…
Finally, we get the person who said they listened to the PEOPLE.
Oh and if they lied. ..oops sorry you are no longer eligible, either. Out the door..
LL seems you love the backdoor approach to critique. Your attempts to disarm are transparent, attack the programs you believe readers here might be using or about to use. I am just not sure why you wish to dishearten the brave souls who are preparing for the fight of their lives. Social Security could have been an acceptable program. As it was presented to the American People. Granted it was a forced participation retirement program but it was essentially a pool, one received according to what one paid in.
I think Progressives GREATLY under estimate how many would, if needed, actually take up arms to defend the Constitution from enemies foreign AND domestic. Unlikely to get to that point, but you never know how far the extremes want to push the vast majority in the middle.
Sorry, I had something to say about health care and I apologize for the corruption bent.
To even start cleaning up health care inequalities or providing help for our fellow countrymen and women. Which we already have in the form of medicaid. ( but we all know that is being dismissed purposely). We need to address Illegal immigrants from whatever country they hail from.
This Administration, Congress and Senate, are intentionally ignoring the 800 lb gorilla in the room. Or are they lying again.
Their proposed fix, I mean, enforcement and punishment of us by a corrupt administration who by the way bullies, threats or cajoles and appeases them. Yes it is down to Us vs Them.
Needs to show in plain sight where they to require Country of Origin treaties or agreements that dictate terms for nationals in this country for whatever reason. I realize we do have RESPONSIBLE countries that provide care for their nationals.
Why do we have Federal laws requiring care for the other irresponsible countries nationals.
Whether it be criminal actions, illness, or accidental injuries. We pay not only for our own, we are covering at least 80% of nationals here, in most cases ILLEGALLY.
I know we need to address allot there. I do not believe anyone should lose everything, to an illness and end up wards of state to get life saving treatment. I realize most Insurers are out for the god almighty dollar.
But forcing all of us to throw dollars into the collective pot. Does not address the frequent 22 occupant SUV rollovers that at the least has twelve survivors in need of life saving emergency care and a few of those survivors may need long term care and rehabilitation.
FEDERAL law demands they be treated and Yes as a human being I know we need to save lives.
BUT SEND the BILL to the COUNTRY of origin.. The foreign nationals need to feel they are subject to their countries laws and will be held entirely liable for the bills incurred. If I go to the emergency room for a hangnail and I did not pay I would ultimately have a lien on anything I owned.
I wonder what Mexico or any other country does when their nationals do not pay or abuse emergency services??
Belgium, December 22, 1944:

To the U.S.A. Commander of the encircled town of Bastogne.
There is only one possibility to save the encircled U.S.A. troops from total annihilation: that is the honorable surrender of the encircled town. In order to think it over a term of two hours will be granted beginning with the presentation of this note.
If this proposal should be rejected one German Artillery Corps and six heavy A. A. Battalions are ready to annihilate the U.S.A. troops in and near Bastogne. The order for firing will be given immediately after this two hours term.

Four days later, lead elements of Patton's Third Army broke through the encirclement. May the spirit of General McAuliffe live on.
Entire states will seceed first, and there will be blood. It would be ironic if the last President to face Civil War paved the way for the next President to face one.
Susan Swift, will you make me the happiest patriot in the world and be my wife?
Read about Virginia passing a law to tell Obama that his Chicago thug politics don't play in the birthplace of liberty. It would thwart any mandate for a citizen of Virginia (that's right – citizen of Virginia) to be mandated to buy healthcare insurance.
The negative scores on my original post are proof positive that lefty trolls frequent these blogs to cause mischief. Who wouldn't chuckle at that post but Chris's fellow tinglers?
Hey MiPain'
We seem to off to good discussion. I'm critiquing no one, merely playing the Devil's advocate in ponting out the (not) so obvious point of this whole charade people seem to be missing. As to your point re 'fight of their lives.' Which fight would that be, the one for more entitlements or less? Maybe the definition of entitlements? How about where these so-called entitlements have lead us as a nation. To be sure, all these programs started out with the best of intentions but assurances made then were hollow in premise and costly in practice. Put simply; the programs, for whatever good they do, are flawed and the system is corrupted by even more corrupt entities, i.e. politicians, corporatists, etc, and we're broke as a result.
And this is not a 'healthcare bill', it's a tax and a damn big one, plain and simple, How else do you think they're going to pay for the rising costs. Entitlement is merely a word but has come to have a much different meaning in our society and people should be aware of the fine print before signing the contract. In ending I'll say this; everyone has the obligation to take care of themselves and no right to ask of others to pay for it. Only I should the have right to choose what, who, how, when and where to spend my monies. Is that left enough for ya'?
Ahhhh! This is a genius analogy, pure genius! But I would have put a picture of Obama side by side with Xerxes.
Yeah . . . you know, I just kinda don't see that happening.
Perfect!
Republicans fought against slavery and Dems try to bring it back again.
We've been doing just that but we've been deliberately and stubbornly IGNORED since early last year.
Just because Bush spent LESS than Dems wanted doesn't make him better than them. All the Repubs spent like Democrats. We GOPers said, "well hell, why not just let the DNCers take the seats? Screw this party." We left the GOP.
NOW we know that was the wrong response, and the correct response is to throw the SOBs out and bring in real fiscal conservtaives. The problem arises when your local GOP committee makes sweetheart deals with a particular candidate, bypasses the primary process, and leaves you stuck with a RINO. We are dealing with this now in CD-1, Long Island, and fighting it, for both the GOP line and the Conservative party line. The PARTY IS HIJACKING THE PROCESS. Blame the candidates when they do wrong after being elected, but blame yourself too if you did not vet them well enough or if you let a party dictate who your candidate was going to be.
It cannot and should not come to that. People are not trained, and they would likely hurt their fellows as much as any enemy. And are there not Progressives and Conservaives mixed in among families? ecall the Civil War, when some brothers fought for the UNion, and some for the Confederacy. Would you fire on a family member?
Talking of violence is pointless. Violence should be avoided at al costs. We have the means to revolt bloodlessly and we must use them.
No, I think Susan got it right. You see, the Persian horde is the STATIST army, a multitude of apolitical soldiers blindly following a monarchical ruler. The majority of voters did vote for Obama, but do you really think that they knew anything about his politics? Now it is up to the 300, the politically active freedom loving Americans, to win the war.
The 300 did not lose anything. Not even the battle, much less the war. And neither will we, as long as we FIGHT for the just cause.
You say "None of the Republicans are worthy of the respect you give them." I don't entirely agree, but the real point is this: It is not the politicians who have halted Obama's Liberal-Progressive agenda dead in its tracks so far, it is the American people. It is Tea Party protesters, talk show callers, people who call their Congressmen, fax Capitol Hill, march on Washington and all across our land in rally after rally after rally.
WE THE PEOPLE are the 300, and we are winning. The battle over socialist medicine will never be over until it is utterly defeated, and the war over the Progressive Movement will not be over until it is an unfortunate footnote in history.
I for one am not of the "cafeteria entitlement" approach- i.e. some good, some bad. I feel all of them are meant to lull folks into a false sense of security and take away our personal responsiblity.
As far as I can tell there's only one. Ron Paul. He's voted against every step of the way based on its obvious unconstitutionality.
I gave you one plus back.
Agreed. There's probably no more than 2 or 3 republicans voting against based on constitutional reasons. Ron Paul is one. John Shadegg from Arizona, another. The rest are playing politics that just happen to fall on We The People's side.
All this crap has to come to an end. It's only going to enslave the world's last best chance for freedom.
I'm from NY. If I called my congressman and senators they'd probably openly laugh at me.
And that's exactly why the dems will gladly walk the plank for it. Once its in, its in. And for any democrat who gets tossed out of office, there will be a nice, comfy, well paying ambassadorship or cabinet position, or some other make work job.
I can see this getting on the express lane to the Supreme Court. Where Roberts, Thomas, Alieto, Scalia will have their say on it.
And from what I've seen so far, they have an entirely different interpretation of the constitution than the current congress and the administration.
God bless you for your service to this great country. Thank you.
don't get or suggest physical disobedience. that will give Caesar Obama a reason for martial law or give him a reason to start forming his "civilian army" that he issured to the DOD three days after his inauguration. The order does not stipulate "overseas" as our constitution forbids using the army on U.S. soil. Local and state law enforcement will not obey the communist/socialist so he needs a "brown shirt" nazi control group. Take this seriously and don't think It can't happen. This unknown, inexperienced minority freshman senator filed a presidental campaign entity ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY DAYS (140) after his default election. BEWARE the teleprompter authors.
Of course we have. See, if we were as smart as they are, then we would see how great socialism is. Since we don't, it's the duty to their fellow idiot Americans to force them to do what's right.

I agree. It is not how you play the game, as Democrats have proved over the decades, it is winning – period.
I am a carnivorous male near four score years and sick and tired of conservative leaders bowing and scraping to the weak minded. Nancy Pelosi has shown conservatives how to get things through congress. Push – punch – kick – scratch – win, win, win. But of course tell the truth. Do not lie but tell the opposition if they want a knife-fight we will bring bazookas.
Forget the big tent, that's for the Democrats. They want the fruits and nuts from California and elsewhere let them have them, they want the lazy and stupid let them have them. The conservative tent is large enough for the people who pay their own bills and the nation’s bills and create jobs, and for those who contribute to charities for those that need a hand up. It is large enough for people who want to step up and take responsibility for themselves and their family.
Independents flock to winners, not those that play nice. Last year Republicans were perceived as losers, thanks mostly to eight years of disinformation by the main-street-media in lockstep with the left wing-nuts.
Has anyone noticed it is no longer a Health Care Bill but an Insurance Industry reform.
Control the banking industry, control the auto industry, now control the insurance industry. "I am not a Socialist."
But I am a liar.
LL I didn't ask for one entitlement program. I oppose them. I don't get one thin dime from any government program or agency, although I have been paying taxes into SS and the rest for 30 years. I want to vote for candidates who will slash the size of government and cut agencies altogether. But until we have such brave political warriors elected, we have to start somewhere. If this bill passes it will revolutionize America and empower government beyond most people's ability to fully comprehend. So while I agree with you that this healthcare bill is the culmination of progressive incrementalism, such agreement will NOT change anything. It's not rhetoric to urge those few embattled conservatives in Congress to fight on until we can send more conservatives to aide them. They need to hear from us.
Thanks to my mom, an English teacher herself, and the English teachers who taught me in public school. I'm grateful to know others know the difference, too.
Hey Y'all. Harry reid seems to think this health care bill is "unambiguously support(ed)" by the American people
http://corner.nationalreview.com/post/?q=NmViZmU2...
What does he think? That if he says it out loud enough times that the people will change their minds? (At the very least he will get the MSM to believe him.) What a flippin' idiot.
Be vigilant America, keep the pressure on your congress critters, vote no the healthcare…we are watching!

It's just incremental BigGov'ment and our so called "side" has also bought into this entitlement mess. Once the bureaucracy is cemented in place, it becomes ingrained and impossible to dislodge.
It must be stopped here or it's the end of the line for the America we thought we knew….
Susan Swift, I happen to agree although many took my post to mean something else. As a friend of mine says;
1. Soap box
2. Ballot box
3. Ammo box
We're between 2 a7 3 at the moment. Wouldn't you agree?
Susan, my mother taught high school English, and I'm a born-and-bred nit-picker. Language has degenerated to the point where it often sounds like dozens of people scratching their fingernails across the blackboards at the same time. I get frustrated with even military folks who talk of discovering an enemy "cashay" (cache), not realizing there's no accent above the "e". It should be pronounced like cash, not cachet. And have you noticed how many folks say "hone in on", instead of "home in on"? Oh, another pet peeve is the use of "troop" as a full synonym for "soldier". Troop is a collective term, a military unit. I think that error came from the phrase "entertaining the troops", which meant that someone was going out to the rear echelons to entertain companies, regiments, divisions. I hear someone say "two troops were killed today" and I feel a dual outrage. Primarily I feel anger at the loathsome enemy who have killed our valiant troopers, but there is a frustration that the ill-informed speaker technically could be talking about platoons or companies. I just bite my tongue about the latter.
Reasonsjester, life can be cruel indeed. The magnificent Susan is married with children. But ask if she's got a sister.
The Battle of Adobe Walls.
I want nothing to do with Social Security because I'm smart enough to know that the money I pay in is spent as soon as it's withheld. I also understand the reality that despite being robbed all my life to pay for it, I will never receive benefits from it because everything will have collapsed by then. Let me save my withholdings my way and keep the government's fingers off of it.
Also, Medicare is going to be the same way. I might get coverage, but it will cover about as many services as a Cracker Jack super-secret decoder ring. In other words, it will be coverage in name only so some politician can feel good that we're all "covered."
The government has a lot of fingers to pull out a lot of pies.
My favorite movie along with Independence Day. When I think it's too hard to fight back, I watch the 300. Then I'm ready to stand again. I can do no less for freedom then they did to preserve and keep free Western Civilization. Thanks for the article.
Excellent article. Sharing!

Not to mention the nice retirement program they've set up for themselves, at full salary and benies for the rest of their lives…
This is why I hate how people dismiss this movie as being popular due to some sort of imagined homoeroticism. They totally miss the message.
The comprehension of what you wrote didn't sink in I believe…
A great piece of writing I loved it!
Osama may have trouble getting the military to back him. The military took an oath to defend the Constitution against
all enemies foreign and domestic. Osama, Pelosi, Reid, and the rest of the scum in congress definitely meet the
criteria for domestic enemies.
I also thank you for your service.
Semper Fi!
You Sir are CORRECT!! And for one thing we need to close the moronic idiotic press and let the facts speak for themselves clearly, correctly and concisely!!
I'm sure Frank and Massa would love to be in that crowd unfortunately for them the Spartans would disembowel them because they aren't warriors just girly men…..
And in America we call it opening a giant can of whoop ass.
They can pass it if they want, true, but they'll be breaking so many laws and rules it will be utterly contemptible.
But on the bright side, there's a new sheriff over at the Supreme Court who I have no doubt will be heard loud and clear.
NO! YOu are totally misquoting me. Reread the article — I said "Do not misunderstand, I hope for victory in the health care battle and believe it can be achieved…." I hope for VICTORY in the healthcare BATTLE. I though t it obvious from the piece that I OPPOSE healthcare and want it defeated. I do not "hope obamacare passes" as you have claimed in your note.
Our ForeFathers' Gift includes:
1. "[W]hen a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce [the People] under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security."
Remember, the Declaration was written against the King "For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent." OBAMAcare will OverTax Whites in order to redistribute more TapxPayer CARGO for all other UNproductives to enjoy.
2. "Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A Prince, whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.":
3. Plus: "If ever a time should come, when vain and aspiring men shall possess the highest seats in Government, our country will stand in need of its experienced patriots to prevent its ruin." — Samuel Adams, 1776
What America needs is an endless "Shield Wall" of conservatives who are willing to stand up for each other and vote for their candidates and never back down on their principles of 1. The perfection of the US Constitiution 2. The belief in each other 3. Small Government 4. Individual Liberty 5. Willingness to give for these goals to the utmost ability of their position… Someone could set it up on line and you would know either side of you in the wall and keep in touch and WIN this WAR. What do you all think?
"…Chicago thug politics….".
Very good.

Hmm, I am not sure I am in the RIGHT place any more.. maybe I am, "gasp" a commie…
.
Or are a few of you independently wealthy, live off trust funds, or have a hefty sum in a pension sitting somewhere.
Unfortunately when SS was proposed I am sure it was taunted as a guaranteed plan for old age, you know to get the people to go for it.. So we all paid into it over all our years. Gee, but don't draw from it.. Is that what it will be like when health care gets shoved down our throats too. You can't use THAT insurance, you welfare bum..
IF any plan is enforced it could devour a quarter of a average wage earners family income..
Grow up or smarten up.
Like stim-pak and we have to pass this, to save that.. and the Obama health takeover. SS was put in place and the workers funded it.. the ones who pay all their taxes that is..
As an adult woman, I know there are too many women who will need Social Security in their future. Too many of them will have little, if no savings. Too many of them sacrificed for family and children and have built up little if any pension benefits.
With BAD schools and the lack of affordable or nearby private schools some today are homeschooling and running small, side businesses to support or supplement their income. Personally I put my son through private schools all his life till I could no longer afford his Fairfield Prep final years of high school tuition.
Many women will be left high and dry and possibly lose any entitlement to their husbands pension, when hubby leaves them for the younger woman. Especially if they re-marry.
I do know that as a women who worked in an rather large engineering firm you were left out of the company's pension plan.
Women were and are EXCLUDED from many company pension plans working as office administrators, I worked with a lawyer for awhile and he too, offered no plan. These are mostly Non qualified deferred compensation plans which are used mostly by Professionals and others.
In my earlier days it most likely was because we were expected to come and go as we were the family caregiver. We never qualified by tenure or some other reason.
I am a mother of four children from two marriages. I am not even close to retirement age.
I have worked since I was 16 years old. Here is some info for you, which you may wish to consider when you say it is a welfare.
I paid into SS and many pension plans over the years but I am not entitled to one dime for them. I have also run my own businesses for the last twenty years and saved and invested.
In 2007 I had several thousand in savings, more than several thousand in investments and allot of Jewelry, which I bought or was given to me, mostly by my children over the years..
With my home and all that, I could have been sitting well, another 20 years I could have finally rested on my laurels.
Since then I have had my income drop from residual to $0. I have been actively seeking employment. Oh and by the way, most of the places I am seeing looking for help offer NO BENEFITS. I still apply.
So I am for the Social Security system remaining in place for all those women I mentioned, and me.
Patricia
