Some commentators call the stubborn insistence to pass Obama’s unpopular healthcare plan a “suicide pact” among liberals in Congress. They’re risking political suicide to get socialized Healthzilla signed before the November midterm elections rip away Democrats’ hold on power.
With all respect to such political savvy and intuition, the Democrats’ plan might not be so noble as hari-kari. Obama and the Democrats might be banking on the political equivalent of maternal dementia.
Politics is like childbirth, painful and dangerous, but ultimately subject to virtual amnesia. Ask any mom in the midst of labor whether she’s planning on having more children and you risk physical harm. Ask her the same question moments after the newborn is laid in her arms for the first time and, through tears of joy, she’ll tell you it was all worth the pain and effort.
Very soon the Administration will begin liquidating those still unspent billions of TARP funds into the battleground districts while starving Republican districts of similar cash slushies. Growth in the government job sector will continue with more people gratefully finding work with Uncle Sam, while millions more will rest easy at home receiving unemployment checks even as Congress battles to secure longer time frames for unemployment benefits. Plus summer typically sees warmer temperatures, less money spent on heating oil and a few dollars left over for the family vacation however humble while sunny weather buoys Americans’ moods. Democrats are betting that the economy will likely improve for a while as those TARP funds are spent and as the normal course of American capitalism struggles to overcome governmental assault.
Behind the scenes the Administration is reassuring Democrats of their political safety in their gerrymandered districts. Time does heal all wounds. Healthzilla may be upsetting now, but as government largesse blunts, however temporarily, bad economic news and folks start receiving government paychecks, stimulus checks and one time tax credits, the political dementia will likely kick in just in time for the reelection season to begin in earnest. Eight months is a lifetime in the political psyche.
And don’t underestimate the power of the MSM. When the January jobs report showed a fractional decrease in the number of unemployed, the MSM jubilantly proclaimed that the economy had turned the corner and hailed Obama as an economic savior. And all for a microscopic, temporary improvement in the jobless rate, due largely to the sad fact that more people simply stopped looking for work. There will likely be another slight decrease in unemployment numbers as the federal governmental hires temporary census workers, too. All of this will sway the grim jobless numbers just enough for the MSM to crow over Obama’s Jobs Summit triumph as the pivotal moment in the Great Recession.
So Emperor Obama, Princess Pelosi and Duke Harry are doubling down on political dementia. Let’s hope Republicans have the stomach to remind us just how uncomfortable giving birth to socialism really is. Because if they don’t, Democrats’ wager on political dementia may well pay out handsomely come November 2.

Bad analogy to giving birth – when the baby is born, the pain is forgotten because actually holding the baby is so sweet. There is nothing sweet about more socialized health care.

For those of us that are conservative, hell no we won't forget. I am worried about so called independents, however. They seem to sway with the wind.
Meh, didn't see the Republican party doing much for healthcare before the Democrats got in. This healthcare policy is the single worst policy i've ever seen implemented, but the only use for the Republicans is to use them as a ram to smash it apart. They are more than useless in the leadership sense, and we'll have to provide it while they get their heads out of their asses.
This is exactly what I fear. For decades, the American public has been apathetic toward the gradual slide to Socialism and over and over they continued to vote in incumbents regardless of how crooked or generous with our money they were. It has warmed my heart to see the public stand-up and shout-out the last 9 months starting with the townhalls, but will the public still be fired up 8 months from now after the health care fervor dies down (whether passed or not)? I pray they will because if we miss this opportunity to re-define who were are as a country this November, it may very well be our last chance to do so peacefully.

Americans who never ever protested anything before have had enough, and what they've had enough of is leftard Democrats ripping them off to pay whatever their favored aggrieved group is this week.

The MSM-Obama statist alliance is typified by the utterly corrupt arrangement between the Washington Post/ Kaplan Education corp. and Obama and congressional dems. The Kaplan education unit has a license to print money thanks to the pell grants, federal student loan guarantees to poor risk students and direct grants. The default rate on student loans at many of the Kaplan campuses is approaching 30%. The WAPO reciprocates with Obama worship, ass covering, deflection and all the usual MSM tricks.
Pelosi is now combining Obama's student loan takeover into the Health bill. A twofer for the statists.. There will be, with 100% certainty, a student loan bubble as the economy implodes further making it yet more difficult for the students to pay these loans back. The country is being stretched beyond the breaking point by design.
The Progressive agenda is destroying the Democrat party and then they tell the Democrats to vote for Obamacare to save it. The Democrats need to help the country remove the Progressives from the party to save their party and our country. If the Moderate and Blue Dog Democrats cave to the threats from the Progressives on Obamacare, then the same techiniques will be used again for cap-n-trade, card check, illegal immigration, Progressive education reform, etc…

While it is absolutely true that one of the primary reasons we are in this current nightmare is because we forgot to be vigilant against socialism, stopped referring to history for guidance and forgot what happens when societies cling to the false promises of collectivism and utopianism – the American People have never witnessed so brazen an attempt by our own administration to remake the United States into a weak European Socialist territory. Not even with FDR or LBJ have we been so relentlessly assaulted on a daily basis by our own government and its supplicants in the mainstream media. Many Americans are seeing for the first time the government subterfuge and systematic propagandizing in the media and in our schools. We can never go back to sleep, even if we were so inclined, not only because we've been so abruptly awoken, but because now we have the new media to continually keep us from lulling off. Never before have we had a better watchdog than in the internet; When a politician breaks a promise, the video proof is posted online immediately. The web is an eye witness to the sharp decline both here and in sister nations who have bought the socialist promise, like Not-So-Great Britain, the country once most akin to our own. A check from the Fed will not not relieve our angst, it will not satiate our hunger for freedom, it will not reverse the revolution. It will only slightly boost the resolve of those already on board the big government locomotive – but it won't fool the stalwart freedom lovers or the newly awakened – and we are the majority. A more apt warning would be regarding the weakening of our national security under the Left. Yep, you nailed it. I myself have to fight sometimes to keep myself awake. Things seem not too bad now, just par for the course. But its like a train headed up a beautiful mountainside, oblivious and unaware of the cliff ahead. The simple fact of the matter is that someday soon U.S. bonds will be downgraded, interest rates will rise, and the debt will kill us. We only have to look at Greece for a preview of what is to come. Let's stand up and fight, and hope that tax day tea parties and summer townhalls can give us a second wind going into elections in the fall.

As we speak, backroom deals are being made to get this bill passed. Certain states have deals and most don't. Does this sound like a fair bill? I don't think so. The people have rejected this monstrosity and they still insist on shoving it down our throats. This administration and Congress is trying to install a system of healthcare that will certainly bring us down the road to socialism and economic ruin…But look at England, Canada, France…all have socialist healthcare and are regretting it..so we seem to be on a road to distruction and these politicians are turning a deaf ear to the people that put them in office.
