Part 1:What is Media Matters? Do They Really “Have it in For Beck?”

You may not believe this part of the story but it is very true. Somewhere under a giant rock, located by the northern part of the Potomac river where it splits and forms a pattern that kind of looks like a wishbone, there is a secret lair filled with computers and television screens. The people who work there spend all day watching Fox news, reading conservative columnists, and listen to talk radio and surfing the net trying to identify anyone who disagrees with a project that George (Spooky Dude) Soros is behind. The name of this nefarious organization is Media Matters and its mission is to lie —tell half-truths, let’s face it, they will do anything except deal with the facts in order to try and discredit anyone who disagrees with the “Dude” of “Spooky.”

Allow me to interject some honesty. No,  it’s not true that Media Matters operates in a secret underground lair. It’s also not true that they work under a rock, it just seems as if  they crawl out from under a rock to make their reports. I am not even sure that they all work in an office filled with computers and TV screens, for all I know they are all freelancers.

The rest: lies, half-truths, ignoring the facts, and serving the “Dude” of “Spooky,” all that is the absolute truth. Additionally they work hard to be hypocrites, its as if they have a rule which says, “If a progressive and a conservative do the same exact thing, only the conservative is to be criticized.”

I have been following Media Matters develop its fake smears against Glenn Beck since  October 2010. That is when they initiated their quest to brand Beck as an anti-Semite to deflect criticism of the progressive movement and it’s Sugar Daddy George Soros.

Before continuing, it  would be dishonest if I didn’t point out that I am an audience regular, both to Beck’s Radio and his TV program. I don’t always agree with him, (sometimes he makes me want to punch my  laptop which streams the radio show) but the programs always generate thought, always entertains, and sometimes incite an ice-cream binge. But it would be just as dishonest not point out that this Case Study about the Soros-controlled hit squad is not really about Glenn Beck. False charges of Antisemitism are a particular hot button of mine.

As a Jew, every time I hear someone being bullied with false charges of Antisemitism I am compelled to offer a defense (usually that deflects the bully’s anger toward my  direction). That doesn’t mean I reject all charges of Antisemitism  When charges are valid I just as vigorously attack the bigot, such as when my friend Rabbi Nessenoff asked me what to do with this little video he took of Helen Thomas . I quickly posted it on my site The Lid, here at Big Journalism, gave it to Scott Baker (who at the time was working for Breitbart) who posted it on Breitbart TV,  sent out tweets and emails to most of the large sites by the end of the day it was on radio and TV and the calls for Thomas’ head were all over the place.

Carried in the January 27th edition of the Wall Street Journal was an advertisement/open letter from four-hundred Rabbis organized by a socialist Jewish organization called Jewish Funds for Justice (JFJ), with strong ties to financier George Soros (the full ad is embedded at the bottom of this page).  As discussed the day the ad came out, the rabbis efforts brought shame upon themselves, their holy profession and the entire Jewish people, and even worse have committed a Chillul Hashem (desecration of God’s name). A conversation with one of the signers, Rabbi Steven Wernick , the day after my initial post raised more questions (which as of this moment the Rabbi still hasn’t answered).

That however, is the not the end of the story.  Over the past few days, three of the groups used to corroborate the false charges raised by Jewish Funds For Justice have repudiated the letter arraigned by the George Soros proxy. All three weren’t contacted prior to the use of their names, disagreed with the thrust of the letter and were not happy that they were included. A fourth came out and said the letter was too one sided.  Not surprisingly  the only group/person not raising some objection to the letter has an association with George Soros.

The Anti-Defamation League has taken up the Media Matters’ cause by attacking Glenn Beck’s series against George Soros:

Glenn Beck’s description of George Soros’ actions during the Holocaust is completely inappropriate, offensive and over the top. For a political commentator or entertainer to have the audacity to say – inaccurately – that there’s a Jewish boy sending Jews to death camps, as part of a broader assault on Mr. Soros, that’s horrific.

….The Holocaust was a horrific time, and many people had to make excruciating choices to ensure their survival. George Soros has been forthright about his childhood experiences and his family’s history, and there the matter should rest.

Its true, Soros was forthright but there is nothing wrong with someone talking about what Mr. Soros described as the best time in his life.

Abe Foxman has come out against a great and wonderful friend of the Jews, Rush Limbaugh.  That is bad enough, but it is symptomatic of a deeper problem: I have for years derided Jews in America and the Jewish lay leadership for tolerating and supporting clear and present enemies of the Jewish people among our senior ranks. It is a sickness of the soul. The liberal Jew worships at the church of human secularism. These lost souls are married to their liberal dogma.

One of the most odious of the bunch, Abe Foxman, uses the might and the soapbox of the Anti-Defamation League in an attempt to destroy friends and supporters of the Jewish people, in order to garner favor with our enemies.

On Friday Norman Podhoretz, whom I rarely cite, as his capitulation on Gaza and other existential matters of grave concern to the Jewish people have been most damaging, called Foxman out on the ADL chief’s denunciation of Rush Limbaugh as an anti-Semite.  The author of the book Why Are Jews Liberals? (from which Rush was quoting), Podhoretz called Foxman’s attack on Rush “vile” and noted that Foxman has: (more…)
