Eugene Robinson, a stage four Obama apologist at the Washington Post, thinks the Republican party is “all shook up” over Joe Barton’s portrayal of the Obama-BP “meeting” as a shakedown. Strange words coming from an MSM Obama shill who himself ain’t nothing but a hound dog.

Going all in for the President— the Constitution and Bill of Rights be damned—Robinson has once again bravely chosen blind “stand by your man” allegiance over objective journalistic reason. From Robinson’s June 22 “All Shook Up for BP” column:
A group comprising roughly two-thirds of all Republicans in the House takes the position that President Obama was wrong to demand that BP set aside money to guarantee that those whose livelihoods are being ruined by the oil spill will be compensated. In other words, it’s more important to kneel at the altar of radical conservative ideology than to feel any sense of compassion for one’s fellow Americans. This, ladies and gentlemen, is how today’s GOP rolls.
This logic is twice flawed. First, in Robinson’s murky thought world, following the Bill of Rights amounts to “radical conservative ideology.” Did he miss Article VII of said Bill? The one that states:
Nor shall [any person] be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.
In watching countless hours of debate over “healthcare” rarely, if ever, do I hear the U.S. Constitution mentioned in the discussion. I was speaking at event recently when a very eloquent and entertaining doctor got up and spoke of the dangers of this bill – to her industry and the American people. Agreed 100% with everything Dr. Daliah Wachs said. She knocked it out of the park and used humor and brilliance. We need people who understand those specifics, and she does. I’m no doctor, but I do know our Founding Documents. Following her speech I stood up and said, “I don’t like the thing because it’s not constitutional!” The crowd went crazy.

The Constitution resonates. The Constitution, when used properly, connects with the American people. We’ve spent 100 years running away from this inspired document, it’s long past time that we began our sprint back toward it. (more…)
The Citizens United decision is a powerful rebuke to the forces that believe our Constitution is less a solid foundation of our democracy then a political pretzel to be bent and twisted into any form the politicians choose. Sadly, far too many journalists and other people who really should know better blindly accept this bizarre vision of our founding documents. They allow themselves to be seduced by the notion that the foundations of our democracy are actually barriers to “progress” that can simply wished away instead of firm principles that, if they are to be changed at all, can be amended only with the overwhelming and express consent of the governed.

The Left often argues that the Constitution is a “living” document, by which they really mean that the plain text is irrelevant and that over time the Constitution’s provisions inevitably morph into – surprise – something that just happens to correspond exactly to their precise policy preferences. And so the “Living Constitution” grows, but less like a mighty oak than a patch of weeds. Take the Commerce Clause, originally drafted to allow the federal government to control trade between the states but today a bloated behemoth that provides an excuse for every Congressional power grab that comes down the pike — including, if Nancy Pelosi is to be believed, “health care reform.” (more…)
