The objective of Media Matters For America (MMFA) is to tell half-truths, spin, distort and well … let’s face it, they will do anything except deal with the facts in order to try and discredit anyone who disagrees with the Progressive agenda as outlined by their favorite rich guy, George Soros, the “Dude” of “Spooky.” But you have to hand it to them, sometimes they are so creative in their methods.

Take their homepage from the other day:

Looking at the screen shot, one would think that they would present proof that Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Andrew Breitbart are being disingenuous about their “birther” positions. But when you open up to the items inside it becomes reminiscent of that old song from Sesame Street,

One of these things is not like the others,
One of these things just doesn’t belong,
Can you tell which thing is not like the others
By the time I finish my song?

In the article teased by the cover story Hannity is mentioned 18x, Limbaugh is mentioned 20x and Andrew Breitbart is mentioned….wait let me count…ah zero times. Breitbart is showcased in the picture, right there over headline, but he isn’t part of the story about flip-flopping about the “birther” issue.

Giving MMFA the benefit of the doubt (something they don’t practice) I considered the possibility that the author of the article forgot to put in the Breitbart quotes, leading me to check Breitbart’s websites for “birther” content.

There are many groups of political crazies out there: you have the truthers–those who believe that George W. Bush was behind the 9/11 attacks (like former Green Jobs Czar Van Jones). Then there are the birthers–a group on whom I have written plenty about over the past few weeks.  They are the people who believe that they can have the POTUS removed from office because of a belief that he was born in another country.  Former Hilary Clinton operative Philip Berg was the king of the birthers until Donald Trump came along.

But the most destructive of political conspiracy theorists are the sick minds that believe that every comment made by a conservative or Republican against President Obama is intended to demean people of color. I call them “Racerists.” What make the Racerists more dangerous than the typical conspiracy moonbat is they build upon the existing stereotyping suggested in liberal-made campaign slogans with one simple purpose: to end discussion by intimidating people not to criticize the President.

With Donald Trump’s enhanced attention on the President’s birth certificate, the Racerists have come out again to spew their nonsense.

For example, liberal propagandist Bob Schieffer delivered a scathing statement against Donald Trump on the CBS Evening News, reacting to Trump’s claim that President Barack Obama may not have had the grades to get into Harvard. Schieffer said, “That’s just code for saying he got into law school because he’s black. This is an ugly strain of racism that’s running through this whole thing.” (more…)

Accuracy in Media

From Accuracy in Media’s Logan Churchwell:

With Republican presidential announcements approaching this summer, MSNBC has seen fit to promote their underwhelming primetime lineup with a new round of Lean Forward TV ads. Each of these spots take our beloved hosts out of the studio and into the “real” part of America that they seek to speak for. Some are ironic, others are downright hokey. All videos, however, offer not-so-subtle endorsements of progressive policies that play like in-kind donations to the Democratic National Committee. They serve as excellent examples for logical fallacies, too.

Straw Man- First up, Chris Matthews stands before the White House in an act of symbolic protection and labels all potential Republican presidential candidates as birthers. Interesting, considering that Michele Bachmann, Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee, Rick Santorum, Haley Barbour, Newt Gingrich and Tim Pawlenty have scoffed at the issue publicly. Sarah Palin seems a little confused, but Jon Huntsman has a man crush on Obama. We know where The Donald stands, but attention must be given to this gross generalization. I’ll posit that once Mr. Matthews stops talking about President Obama’s citizenship status, the oxygen will be sucked out of the whole debate. This straw man attack does nothing for the MSNBC brand, but give its critics more ammunition.

Etymological Fallacy- Next, Lawrence O’Donnell brings us into his bourgeois living room for a lecture on [illegal] immigration. You might find yourself agreeing on the surface, but pay attention to context. No one with two brain cells to rub together has argued that all borders must undergo an absolute shutdown. In that case, is MSNBC openly pressing for a disregarding of long-standing federal law? (more…)

Apparently, having a baby in public is using said baby as a prop but using said baby as a ploy against the object of your political hatred is not using baby as a prop at all. Interesting logic.

I feel as queasy about this flexing of Palinite muscle as I do about the original, disgusting, asinine story. In some ways, I see a legitimate come-uppance for a tacky site that published a simply inexcusable piece of mean-spirited dreck using a child who cannot defend himself, treating him as if he were subhuman, which he most definitely isn’t. But I also recoil from mob action like this, for the impact it has on fearless free speech and the chilling effect it will have on an already cowed and defensive MSM when covering the truly tough stuff about Palin.

Inside the political vacuum, the headline story on Drudge was none other than Obama’s birth certificate.  It’s the story that just won’t go away–and it won’t go away until Obama himself releases the long-form document.  But with the coming release on May 17 of Jerome Corsi’s Where’s the Birth Certificate continued questions will either be answered or remain inconclusive.  However, no matter what the media says about the issue, people are curious as Corsi’s book hit the Amazon charts hard and fast today.

While I won’t rehash all of the issues here, I will note, for the record, that the left started the birther issue (and continually attacked McCain) and Obama is also a McCain birther as he co-sponsored the Senate Resolution declaring McCain a natural born citizen–clearly understanding the difference between being a US citizen and being a natural born US citizen and its importance.

Now that that’s out of the way, I’ve been watching the brouhaha that Donald Trump is causing and he is not backing down–that’s obvious.  But during these interviews, it makes me wonder why the MSM so aggressively attacks anyone who even dares come close to this issue–even now–after they seemingly put it to rest.  What are they afraid of–what might they find?  And was Oprah wrong again?

Another question that I’d like to float:  Is Obama intentionally withholding his long-form birth certificate to continue to perpetrate the notion that those who question him are crazy giving the  media more ammo against the birthers and the right?  It wouldn’t surprise me, but with Corsi’s evidence that may not be the case.

Finally, has the MSM, out of its allegiance to the Democrat party, missed the biggest story in the history of this country?  And one thing you can be assured, the left will dissect and fact check Corsi’s book until the pages fall out, but will they be able to defend their position on the record?  What they do with the information in Corsi’s book will probably need an extra large bucket of popcorn with butter because dare I ask this: What if the Birthers are right?

You know those awful Tea Partiers — racist, stump-toothed,Republican-voting rednecked hillbillies who drive around in gas-guzzling recreational vehicles and answer the call of Sarah Palin’s Facebook page whenever it orders them to attack gays, Democrats and blacks, unless they’re too busy organizing Christian militias and showing off their their collections of Nazi memorabilia while attending gun shows.  After all, that’s what professional opinion-mongers like Frank Rich of the New York Times keep telling us.

Yeah, right. Here’s Rick Moran, taking a look at some recent polls:

And it was all going so well for Democrats and liberals in the media.

Display a picture or vid clip of angry, contorted faces of the tea partiers, add the race card, accuse the “core” of the movement of being birthers, and generally play to the idea that this vast, grassroots movement is a small, insignificant bunch of sour grape Republicans who hate Obama.

Well, it worked for a while. But something funny happened on the way to smearing millions of ordinary Americans worried about the future; surveys of tea partiers show them to be as mainstream as a McDonald’s french fry.

The liberal media’s newest meme is to claim that the tea party movement is made up exclusively of John Birchers, militia types, racists, and “birthers.” Politico, for instance, had an extensive story about how legitimate conservatives are coming to realize that they’ll have to conduct a Buckley-style purge of the extremists if they expect the tea party groups to be taken seriously. Of course, the left has had its extremists for decades, unlike the right has never conducted any such purges, and has also benefited from a news media that has never highlighted the left’s worst nuts.

Medea_Benjamin_Arrested_1

The whole idea that conservatives have to purge their wackier, more fringe members is something that at one level is obvious but at another is proof that the left and the Old Media are nothing but hypocrites. At still a third level there is part of the attitude exhibited by some of these far right elements that is a root motivation of the tea party movement, fringe or no.

As clownish left-wing commentators such as Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow, John Stewart or Stephen Colbert point fingers and guffaw at the fringes of the right and as the New York Times and Politico stroke their chins and look down their noses at the unruly tea party movement, it must be noted that none of these folks ever uttered a cross word against the Code Pink wackos, the communist infiltrators, anti-war hippies, Stalinist apologists, pro-abortion extremists, Euro-trash half-wits, eco-terrorists, and outright anarchists that have filled the left’s ranks since the birth of the new left after WWII. Some people will tell you that there is no such thing as a stupid question.  They’re wrong.  People ask stupid questions all the time.  It becomes a problem when people do it on purpose.

The “we’re just asking questions” rationale seems to be the explanation du jour for the tiresome and self-destructive continuing “Birther” fixation of some journalists who purport to be on the Right.  As depicted in a fairly straightforward Washington Independent article, WorldNetDaily Editor-in-Chief Joseph Farah used his Friday night dinner speech at the Tea Party convention to “raise questions” about the President Obama’s citizenship, much to the disgust of other attendees, including Andrew Breitbart.  “It’s self-indulgent, it’s narcissistic, it’s a losing issue,” Breitbart told one of Farah’s minions, his frustration evident.

Let me add a few more adjectives.  It’s “stupid,” “irrational” and “destructive” of everything we are fighting for.  The movement might as well take out its figurative .45, aim directly at its foot, and pull the trigger. And, according to a new book by John Avlon, “Birtherism” began on the Left. (more…)
