If you’ve been watching anything on CNN lately you know Anderson Cooper has found a new cause, a new PSA, and is determined to turn that which doesn’t even approach news into something that does. But if it helps his new daytime talk show, who is anyone to complain about things like “journalistic standards.” Besides, he of the steel blue eyes and sensitive thousand-yard stare has a Get Out Of Journalistic Standards Free card entitled — all together now — For The Children!

As with all absurdly biased media crusades–and this is most certainly one of them– the sport of it is holding the media to their own standards. For example, thanks to the media’s undying love for all things Barack Obama, we conservatives have been introduced to a whole new definition of racism. Disagreeing with Obama is racism. Opposing ObamaCare is racism. Pointing out that our basketball-loving president loves basketball is racism. And now that the GOP’s new front-runner is Herman Cain, guess what we intend to holler every time the MSM goes after him?

Oh, the places we will go.

As far as Anderson Cooper’s anti-bullying crusade goes, this is nothing more than social leftism wrapped in after school specialness. Behold the stupid:

We all know that the Old Media is filled with double standards where it concerns treatment of conservatives and liberals. Last week we found yet another example of the media’s penchant to hypocrisy when a talking head on MSNBC used a derogatory term associated with gays yet the entire militant gay establishment and their pals in the Old Media ignored the whole thing. We all know that if a conservative had issued a gay slur like that the tale would have overshadowed every story in the news today.

Last week MSNBC’s left-wing talker Dylan Ratigan had fellow talking head Jimmy Williams on his program to discuss the debt ceiling talks going on in D.C. The discussion turned to head of Americans for Tax Reform Grover Norquist, whom Williams idiotically called a “petty criminal.” But what Williams said of the relationship he felt that Norquist and Newt Gingrich had was far worse. One person is controlling the agenda of the United States of America right now and his name is Grover Norquist. Grover Norquist was Newt Gingrich’s butt buddy…

First of all, it is simple-minded, and nothing but foolish demagoguery to seriously posit that Grover Norquist is “controlling the agenda of the United States of America right now.” Williams makes himself a clown with such nonsense. But that he goes on to use a gay slur right afterward truly makes of him no one worth taking seriously.

But Silly Jimmy’s veracity is not at issue here. The fact that he can go on national TV and call people “butt buddies” and not a peep about it is heard from the usual suspects in the gay mafia and the Old Media is telling. Were Williams a conservative the din would take weeks to die down. In fact, Williams would probably be fired and his livelihood summarily destroyed.

Of course, it is easy to find conservatives that are attacked for supposed gay slurs. Back in 2007 Ann Coulter was attacked for days for calling John Edwards a “faggot.” In 2009 a conservative radio host was fired for talking against gays. And who can forget Sarah Palin’s daughter Willow who came under fire for using such language on her Facebook account last year? Naturally, these are just a very few examples of the long knives being pulled out for anyone considered a conservative.

Of the many things this “Arab Spring” has the potential to produce, this may be pretty low on the scale, but it is a lesson in the literary license that the internet can bring.

Simply, the story is this; an American blogger in Scotland posed as a lesbian in Syria to make his point about gay rights in the middle-east.

Tom MacMaster, who is a 40 year-old American male studying in Edinburgh, posed as Amina Abdallah Araf al Omari, a gay gal in Damascus. Okay, I guess if that’s all that happened here, this would be the beginning and the end of this deception. People harmlessly impersonate people all the time on the internet and on “Saturday Night Live” — but Tom concocted this scheme where Amina, “A Gay Girl in Damascus,” was kidnapped by Syrian authorities because of her lifestyle and real people risked their lives trying to save the girl that never existed.

He even sent out this picture of her. This is actually a picture of a woman from London, but the world now knows her as a gay girl in Damascus. A French Canadian woman exchanged 1,000 e-mails with “Amina” and believed they had a romantic relationship.

Stories were done on the outrage that Syrian authorities would do this to a young girl who was just living as she wanted to live. MacMaster’s fraud perpetuated an international outrage of stories demanding justice for the Amini and her cause was taken up by journalists in every corner of the planet. An aggressive internet campaign was started and other media outlets quickly followed, all along believing the premise that the story was true, so they didn’t bother fact-checking.

A week ago, news began to break in San Francisco about a targeted gay-bashing crime that allegedly occurred on February 26.

Three cousins from Hayward have been charged in San Francisco with a hate crime and assault for allegedly firing a BB rifle at the face of a man they believed was gay, an attack the men videotaped, authorities said Wednesday.

Investigators believe the assailants chose the victim because he appeared to be gay. When the men were pulled over, police found a video camera that was used to film the shooting, investigators said.

Clearly, of course, this had to be a Christian right-wing, tea party, anti-government, bigoted homophobe from the South. Right?

Wrong.

The three men, Shafiq Hashemi, 21, Sayed Bassam, 21, and Mohammad Habibzada, 24, the driver, were arrested. (more…)
