Dangerous work, trying to cover the political beat where it concerns Democrats.

Police have identified a man seen on video assaulting a photographer after state Sen. Robert Brown’s Macon City Hall news conference on Thursday.

Macon police spokeswoman Jami Gaudet said he is Malik Brown.

She said police are still investigating whether the senator and the suspect are connected. She said both men are cooperating with the investigation, and police expect to interview both men Friday.

Brown is the same senator who, earlier, remarked that Georgia Republicans were like the KKK.

Over at Townhall, Guy Benson is calling out Congressional Quarterly reporter John McArdle and the mainstream media in general for not reporting on Mike Flynn’s scoop from earlier this week that Dem. Rep. Charlie Wilson repeatedly abused his ex-wife during their 27-year marriage. Benson points out that McArdle was quick to report on sealed divorce records of a Republican candidate in Georgia, but is mum on Wilson’s checkered past:

What’s really interesting about the spousal abuse allegations against Congressman Wilson, John, is that they’re fully chronicled in unsealed files–and all the documentation you’d need to verify this possibly game-changing development is conveniently provided by the source that originally reported the story.  As a reporter, I’m sure you’d agree this represents substantially more persuasive sourcing than quotes from a political candidate’s opponent about scuttlebutt he’s supposedly heard from nameless third parties regarding nasty details of a sealed file he hasn’t seen.

Columnist Cynthia Tucker of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, a 2007 Pulitzer Prize winner, has found the enemy and he is us. During a recent episode of the Chris Matthews show, Tucker decided that because we are “addicted to petroleum” we are our own enemy just as much as communism was our enemy during the Cold War.

Uncle-Sam-Oil

Tucker characterizes our “addiction” to oil as an “external threat” — just like communism was — and presents oil as an enemy that we should defeat. Tucker also makes excuses for Obama saying that it’s “harder” for him to call on Americans to sacrifice because of this addiction.

Leave it to a member of the Old Media to construe capitalism, progress, a growing standard of living, and even our own fellow citizens to be as great an enemy as an antithetical foreign system that was sponsored by those who once promised to bury us. Leave it to a member of the Old Media to pinpoint our own system as the enemy. (more…)

The New York Times’s Shaila Dewan, in her February 26 article “To Court Blacks, Foes of Abortion Make Racial Case,” put her foot in her mouth, metaphorically speaking, and illustrated years of MSM misinformation concerning blacks and abortion.

Her article starts out as a factual report on how “the largely white staff of Georgia Right to Life” – who cares what color they are, and what’s “largely” mean? – has enhanced its efforts to address the “high number of black women who undergo abortions.”

Then, at the 150-words mark, comes the first of her foot insertions.

Across the country, the anti-abortion movement, long viewed as almost exclusively white and Republican, is turning its attention to African-Americans and encouraging black abortion opponents across the country to become more active.

“Long-viewed” as a result of what image projection source?  Who has long promoted that view? (more…)

On January 25 a whopping 62 billboard signs sprang up in African-American neighborhoods in Atlanta, Georgia, all with the same message: “Black Children are an Endangered Species.”  The two groups sponsoring the billboard campaign, Georgia Right to Life and the Radiance Foundation, intended the signage to be provocative. Black genocide demands attention — but not, apparently, from the MSM.

Nationally blacks comprise only 12.8 percent of the population but account for 36.4 percent of all abortions. Forty-three percent of all black pregnancies end in abortion. Put another way, “In the United States, the abortion rate for black women is almost five times that for white women,” according to the Guttmacher Institute, Planned Parenthood’s research arm.

Why? If you build it, they will come. According to Guttmacher, 97 percent of all U.S. abortion clinics are located in metropolitan counties, where minorities and the poor are most concentrated. (more…)
