By now, most of you already know the story. In the heat of their fierce Florida death match, the Romney campaign released a campaign ad hammering Newt Gingrich. The ad is made up almost entirely of a clip from a 1997 “Nightly News” report when Tom Brokaw was still the network’s anchor:

—–

Byron York, in my opinion, has done the definitive analysis looking into what really happened with respect to the Speaker’s ethics case, but that doesn’t change the fact that the Romney ad is brilliant in its simplicity and effectiveness. This morning on the “Today Show,” Romney himself explained why:

“I think the reason it was so effective as an ad was that this was not something that Speaker Gingrich could say had been distorted or that Romney was telling things that were not accurate,” Romney said.

“People heard the news, they didn’t hear it filtered, it was just straight on, no heavy music that suggested some kind of sinister background. Instead, (it is) Tom Brokaw, a very credible and respected journalist, reporting the news and I think it was pretty devastating and pointed out that what Speaker Gingrich has been trying to hide is not out in the open.”

Let’s just hope that, should Romney become our nominee, he’s just as willing to salt the earth behind him when it comes to Barack Obama. Romney’s ruthless instincts are the exact right ones when it comes to winning the nomination, but one problem with our side is that we’re usually willing to do whatever it takes to destroy our own, but for fear of the what the corrupt MSM might say, we ease off the Democrats — and lose. Remember McCain’s unwillingness to bring up the twenty years Obama spent in that creepy, racially divisive church? That’s what I mean.

This is especially frustrating because the Democrats always come at us with both barrels blazing. Of course, they never have to worry about the MSM piling on for doing so. We, however, do.

Thursday the Drudge Report had no less than 13 anti-Gingrich links scattered across the page with somewhere around five “above the fold.” The same day, National Review Online, the American Spectator, and pundit Ann Coulter all published missives railing against the former House Speaker. Drudge compiled all the content on his site late Wednesday night. They, along with Washington Post’s Jennifer Rubin, have been cheerleading for a Romney candidacy since there were still eight candidates in the running. Conservative media has clearly cast their lot, and not all for the same candidate.

It’s clear that after the blowout in South Carolina and the Gingrich momentum in Florida, Team Romney called for help.

Sites such as Red State have clearly been anti-Romney, but more non-Romney than for a particular candidate, after Perry left the race. Rush Limbaugh hasn’t officially taken a side, but his criticism of Romney as “not a conservative” is definitely noticeable. He also defended Gingrich’s defense of Reagan from the onslaught of oppo published Thursday, as has Dan Riehl, along with Jeffrey Lord.

General Electric owns 49% of NBC. General Electric’s Chairman and CEO is Jeffrey Immelt.  Jeffrey Immelt is a big-time Obama supporter, and if you’ve watched any one of NBC’s three news networks (or their entertainment endeavors), you know that NBC is the biggest billionaire-led, multinational corporation-owned Super PAC ever created, and it’s all in to get Barack Obama reelected.

It is within this context that you must look at everything NBC does in order to make sense of their behavior.

What Brian Williams did last night, with his fascist demand that the debate audience shut the hell up, was to ensure nothing exciting came out of the debate and — what do you know? — nothing did. Williams is obviously aware of the fact that the more excitement and attention stirs around the GOP, the more infectious that excitement might become, and that is not good for the news media’s Precious One — who will need the MSM in prime fighting form if he’s going to win a second term and, you know, ruin America.

Newt Gingrich, like many politicians (including Obama), feeds off  his audience, and over the course of this primary it has been the roar of audience approval that has made Gingrich’s counter-attacks against Obama’s Media Palace Guards so compelling. Clips of these counter-attacks have gone viral, which means that Gingrich’s message exposing the corrupt MSM is starting to penetrate beyond the GOP faithful.

Can’t have that. And without the crowd roaring their approval, Williams knows any kind of counter-attack against him would look different, less like a winning moment and more like an argumentative one. In other words, Williams wasn’t going to allow himself to get John Kinged or allow our side to look like fighters and winners.

Brian Williams is not a dumb man. He’s a very smart and savvy political operative for the left, and he’s certainly smart enough to look for any angle that might help his side.

And that’s what last night was really about.

Speaker Gingrich is handling the corrupt MSM’s race-baiting in the exact opposite way John McCain did. Which means he’s doing it right.

Rather than surrender legitimate arguments and be cowed into leaving Obama alone on issues that matter, Gingrich is confronting these media attacks head on, and I for one am currently forgetting all about his misguided Bain attacks as I fall in love all over again.

Oh, you are going to enjoy this:

—–

That is exactly how you take it to NBC, the ”Today Show,” and Ann Curry. This biased trio is intentionally and cynically using race in the hopes Gingrich will stop launching what have been every effective attacks against Obama and his failed record.  And if you recall, this is exactly the same tactic the MSM used against McCain. Only McCain fell for it and we all know how much good that did him… and America.

Gingrich’s method of dealing with these racial pot-stirrers is to stay on offense by throwing the argument right back in the left’s face by pointing out the failures of liberalism and the left’s current unwillingness to do anything other than further impoverish urban America with a bigger welfare state.

Better still, Gingrich is not backing off the fact that President FailureTeleprompter is The Food Stamp President, and he shouldn’t back off. Facts aren’t racist, no matter how much Obama’s shameless MSM Palace Guards want them to be, and if the MSM wants to keep the food stamp argument alive, the Speaker is apparently more than game to help them along.

- Peaceful Taliban member kills reporter:

“The Taliban are not happy with our reporting,” said Hamidullah, the Voice of America coordinator for northwestern Pakistan, who uses only one name. “They consider it propaganda against them, and they are constantly giving threats against our stringers.” Asked about the military, he answered, “The pressure is always there.”

No word from MMfA on the “desecration” of the reporter’s body through death.

- The reason why MMfA manufactured fake antisemitic cartoon rage:

The Center for American Progress, a liberal think tank closely aligned with the White House, is embroiled in a dispute with several major Jewish organizations over statements on Israel and charges that some center staffers have used anti-Semitic language to attack pro-Israel Americans.

Propagandists stick together!

And so, let the word go forth that Super PACs must bloom in every corner of America! Let the free speech flow! Let the money fall like rain, and let the national debate give voice to opinions other than those held by the MSM!

Wikipedia’s description of a Super PAC:

[A] political action committee, or PAC, is the name commonly given to a private group, regardless of size, organized to elect political candidates or to advance the outcome of a political issue or legislation.  … The 2010 election marked the rise of a new political committee, dubbed “super PACs,” and officially known as “independent-expenditure only committees,” which can raise unlimited sums from corporations, unions and other groups, as well as individuals. … Super PACs are not allowed to coordinate directly with candidates or political parties and are required to disclose their donors, just like traditional PACs.

Question: How is any part of that description different from what the MSM does on a daily basis and what it has been doing for years now?

Just like Super PACs, the MSM does most of its partisan campaigning in print, on radio and on television, and just like Super PACs, the MSM enjoys unlimited amounts of cash, much of it coming from the super-rich top 1% and their big multi-national corporations.

There are, however, three important differences between a Super PAC and The New York TimesWashington Post, Politico, The L.A. Times, The Huffington Post, ABC, MSNBC, CNN, NBC, CBS, and all the other usual suspects. And those differences make the case for why Super PACs are better for America than the mainstream media:

Last week, Miami New Times Blogger Kyle Munzenrieder accused Matt Drudge of trying to stroke racial flames for reporting the facts in the news.

Mr. Munzenrieder is upset because Drudge linked to stories that reported the violence surrounding the Miami Beach Urban Weekend as part of a larger collection of links covering multiple incidents of youth related violence that gripped such cities as Boston, Nashville, Charlotte, and Rochester over the Memorial Day weekend.

Munzenrieder decried Drudge because some of the incidents in question involved Blacks and gangs, stating in his blog that he thought that covering such story was “kinda racist.” Munzenrieder went as far as to offer a quote a racial Gawker conspiracy theory: “since the president of the United States is a black man, and since black voters tend to align with his party, it is to the advantage of the Republican Party and its allies to inculcate fear and apprehension about people who look like him. Hence the top stories on the Drudge Report today.”

Mr. Munzenrieder is entitled to his opinions and theories–no matter how farfetched they may be–but to accuse an editor of racism for reporting the facts in the news is the sign of a sick mind. (more…)

President Obama will give a speech to American schoolchildren today. In that speech, he will exhort them to study hard and get an education. Then, according to the White House, he will add a bit of personal biography:

When I was your age, I was wrestling with questions about who I was; about what it meant to be the son of a white mother and a black father, and not having that father in my life.

Totus-school

Fair enough. Most people go through a period in their life when they must come to terms with their identity. President Obama has spoken and written about his struggle to come to terms with his mixed-race ancestry and his father’s abandonment of his wife and young son. It hardly comes as a surprise to anyone that abandonment by a parent would leave a lasting scar. Neither does it come as a surprise that a young boy might be confused about where he belongs when his parents belong to different racial groups and different countries.

Unfortunately, when someone who isn’t Barack Obama comments on his heritage, the press seizes on it as evidence as racism. This expected fate befell former House Speaker and favorite media punching bag Newt Gingrich, who is now pilloried as a racist by none other than Jonathan Capehart of the Washington Post. Capehart declares: (more…)

Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood represents the Illinois Combine in Obama’s Cabinet. His history in Illinois politics is that of a Republican chameleon. So it’s no surprise he gets high marks from MSM pundits.

For example, as LaHood prepared to retire from the House, Mark Shields gushed over him,

After 14 admirable years of representing Peoria and central Illinois in the U.S. House, Republican Ray LaHood has made the House a more civil, more decent and more personal place…Listen to the testimony of U.S. Rep. Rahm Emanuel, the Chicago Democrat who is so tough he’s widely rumored to eat nails and spit rust: “I’ll miss him dearly.”…As somebody who clashed often with his own hyper-partisan GOP leadership in the House, [LaHood] admits: “I survived Gingrich, Armey and DeLay. I’m still here. They’re all gone.”

In December 2008, David Broder described LaHood as: (more…)
