Stoking the Fire: Despite the fact that the comment was taken out of context, opportunities still abound to seize on Romney’s ‘I like to fire people’ gaffe.

MTV Pretends Poetry Night Was Ron Paul Event: MTV’s website gushes, Ron Paul Inspires Poetry In New Hampshire.  But not so fast, says Newser, which reports that the event’s organizers say it wasn’t a Paul rally at all.  Newser reports: “organizers tell the Worcester Telegram & Gazette that it wasn’t a Paul rally, and estimate that in a crowd of 50-70 people, only four or five were Paul supporters. They say MTV even took lines from poems out of context to make them appear pro-Paul.”

Martin Bashir has situational concern for race. His remarks from his program the other evening:

“It also showed how political leaders could be responsible for either encouraging better race relations or making matters a whole lot worse by using cheap and nasty slurs Now listen to some of the things being said by these republican candidates.”

He mentions only Republican candidates using two instances: the deconstructed false flag of race on Gingrich’s remarks, and the CBS story of Santorum’s remark.

Where, pray tell, was Martin Bashir when Democrats said all this?

Harry Reid:

… Obama — a “light-skinned” African American “with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one,” as he said privately.

Bill Clinton on Obama:

“A few years ago, this guy would have been getting us coffee.”

Joe Biden:

“I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”

Or this Biden classic:

“You cannot go to a 7-Eleven or a Dunkin’ Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent.”

For starters, what Jason Mattera and the likes of James O’Keefe are doing is absolutely no different than what made the oh-so-legendary Mike Wallace oh-so-legendary. When the left uses these tactics, it’s heralded as holding power accountable and the brave pursuit of the truth. But now that New Media has given the right a chance to pick up that sword, it’s called unethical, and worse, it becomes The Story as opposed to the truth those tactics helped to uncover. But that, of course, is part of the plan. By making Mattera and O’Keefe the story, the corrupt MSM doesn’t have to talk about Obama’s ties to ACORN or the false statistics repeatedly spouted by a sitting Vice President.

—–

Secondly, what else are those of us interested in the truth supposed to do? Joe Biden, the Vice President of the United States, runs around America demagoguing and spreading false statistics with the unconscionable claim that if Republicans don’t pass Son of Stimulus women will be raped, and the sycophant media lets him get away with it.  There were likely dozens of so-called reporters following the Vice President around, and had Mattera not stepped up to the plate, Biden would’ve gotten away with this outrage.

In a just world, we would not know James O’Keefe’s name. Don’t misunderstand me; O’Keefe is my hero, and if I won the lottery, his Project Veritas would receive more money than he would know what to do with. But the reason we know O’Keefe’s name is because our media is so in the tank for the left that he and Hannah Giles were able to become famous by taking down that sinister den of corruption known as ACORN. In my mind, they didn’t become famous for putting ACORN out of business; they became famous for stepping into a vacuum created by a corrupt media. Anyone paying attention knew ACORN was corrupt. That was low-hanging fruit, but the leftist media consciously refused to pick it.

When George W. Bush was President, one thing we never had to worry about was the kind of corruption both political parties are capable of. And so for all their overreach and bias, at the very least we could rest easy in the knowledge that if anyone in the Bush Administration crossed the line, the MSM would pounce. This is true for all things Republican and conservative,  and that is a good thing.

Falling to your own media malpractice makes you irresponsible, not a “victim.” It doesn’t make you a “target” when other people publicly note the absence of your journalistic integrity. Politico missed this bit of logic recently when it attempted to blame conservatives for the misdeeds of various members of the media, most recently NYT’s Natasha Lennard.

… these critiques may just muddy the waters enough to do some damage to both the media and the fledgling anti-Wall Street movement.

Here Politico enables the malpractice by suggesting the critiques are baseless; they should worry more about what the actions of these “journalists” could do to the profession of journalism. It’s precisely this behavior which has tanked the trust of the American people in the Fourth Estate.

MSNBC has embraced Occupy Wall Street in a way that echoes the way Fox News embraced the early tea party protests.

I would like for Politico to produce evidence of a Fox anchor writing/editing/advising Tea Party messaging via email or meeting. If they can, then the above quote is honest. If they cannot, it’s a fallacy. If they weren’t prepared to follow up this statement with such an example of media malpractice, they should not have printed the statement at all. There is no equating what NBC did with OWS organizers to Fox simply reporting on the Tea Party.

Vice President Joe Biden lashed out at Human Events’ Jason Mattera when Mattera asked Biden if he regretted threatening Americans with an increase in “rapes” if the GOP didn’t pass the jobs bill.

Biden did not finish the story and say that the reason the jobs bill didn’t pass in the Senate was due to a lack of Democratic support. The bigger question is why the majority party in the Senate can’t keep it together to pass a bill.

In the video, Biden squares up to Mattera and growls “Let’s get it straight, guy, don’t screw with me.” It’s rude, condescending, and unbecoming for the office of the Vice Presidency.

Last week at RebootCongress, I wrote about efforts by progressive propagandists like MOPAG (Missouri Progressive Action Group) and Senator Claire McCaskill to seed their talking points in local newspapers with letters to the editor. The talking points that they’ve set out for this letter writing campaign are designed to smear conservatives:

  • GOP are “thugs” working for the wealthy; “enforcers” for the mega-rich, lots of mafia comparisons are possible.
  • GOP as terrorists; hostage metaphors are good since they are already prevalent; we should always reinforce the image.
  • The Republican downgrade or Tea Party downgrade.
  • GOP as tricksters – Tea Party dupes is a related image.

Now, we have an example of how the left plans to push this propaganda. It begins with Washington University staffer Adam Shriver, who tweeted a link Saturday about letters to the editor in the Post Dispatch:

In the tweet, Shriver claims that Andrew Breitbart is “slammed” by these private letters. Shriver, a far left progressive who SEIU once called “their blogger,” has challenged Breitbart to a debate about the Kenneth Gladney beating and the UMSL Labor Studies course. Breitbart accepted that challenge in mid-August. However, instead of planning that debate, instead of reserving a venue, instead of writing a press release, instead of inviting the media to see him “humiliate” Andrew Breitbart, Shriver is promoting propaganda in the form of MOPAG’s letters to the editor. Not to put to fine a point on it, but this is a strategy that one leftie blog, ShowMeProgress, claims Senator McCaskill begged for.

Oh…if you didn’t think this was an interesting story before, you can certainly see it now.

Two weeks ago Politico reported that vice president Joe Biden said tea party Republicans “acted like terrorists” in the debt talks. Since then, the activist old media has been relatively silent on the story.

This is a big ‘effing deal.

This White House, that preached civility, has shown it can be brutal and viscous towards average citizens. President Obama has called Republicans his “enemies” and suggested his supporters take guns to a knife fight. Representatives of the administration have suggested they “destroy” and “kill” Mitt Romney and “punch back twice as hard” against political opponents.

Barack Obama denied Biden used those words when he spoke with tea party activist Ryan Rhodes. Obama was not in the private meeting, but he has gone on the record and taken a position. He said it did not happen. Certainly, it’s interesting that the media has not asked Obama about this, a private citizen has to bring up this issue and pull a denial out of the media’s Dear Leader.

Politico is standing solidly behind its story and has now taken the time to explain how the story came together.

The Democrat talking points are out. There is one that seems to have been circulated to all the usual suspects amongst the liberal illuminati and they are repeating it over and over ad nauseum. The talking point in question? The Tea Party is a bunch of terrorists. Last week, Thomas Friedman compared them to Hezbollah. Joe Biden piled on as well, saying that they “acted like terrorists.” The Grey Lady’s Joe Nocera carries on the meme as well, while kicking it up a notch. Not only are they terrorists, but they’ve been waging a jihad on the American people.

It really isn’t the point of this article to mention the fact that the New York Times refuses to call, you know, actual terrorists “terrorists.” They’re just militants. Even the term Jihad, according to unindicted co-conspirators CAIR, “includes struggle against evil inclinations within oneself, struggle to improve the quality of life in society, etc. etc.” It’s clear that this definition only holds true when discussing misunderstood Muslims who really only want to be loved and hugged, especially when they’re flying jet liners into buildings and blowing up subways.

Nocera rails against the terror tactics of the Tea party that have kept the American people dumbstruck with horror. They scorned compromise, unlike the President and Senate Majority leader who, at every opportunity, said that any bill that included cuts would be Dead on Arrival. The fact that the Tea Party was unwilling to budge on what President Obama recently referred to as “Job Killing Tax Increases” is irrefutable proof that they hate Americans and worked with “gleeful willingness” to destroy American faith and credit. It’s almost expected anymore when the media does it but our elected officials aren’t supposed to turn on the constituency with bullying tactics.

From the St. Louis Tea Party:

ST. LOUIS TEA PARTY CONDEMNS “TERRORIST” REMARKS FROM VICE-PRESIDENT BIDEN, LAWMAKERS

It was revealed Monday by Politico that Vice-President Joe Biden, U.S. Rep. Mike Doyle, and other lawmakers referred to the tea party as “terrorists” during a heated discussion on the debt ceiling debate. From Politico:

Biden was agreeing with a line of argument made by Rep. Mike Doyle (D-Pa.) at a two-hour,  closed-door Democratic Caucus meeting.

“We have negotiated with terrorists, ” an angry Doyle said,  according to sources in the room. “This small group of terrorists have made it impossible to spend any money.”

Biden,  driven by his Democratic allies’ misgivings about the debt-limit deal,  responded: “They have acted like terrorists.”

The St. Louis Tea Party condemns the comparison of private citizens who desire fiscal restraint in Washington to murderous terrorists who have killed thousands of Americans world-wide.

“It’s reprehensible to me that our Vice-President and other elected leaders would make such a grotesque analogy when in just over a month we will mark the tenth anniversary of the worst attack on American soil,” remarks Dana Loesch, Co-Founder of the St. Louis Tea Party.

“It’s an insult to Americans and the Democratic process to refer to dissenting Americans in such a way,” says Bill Hennessy, St. Louis Tea Party Co-Founder. “Are our elected leaders so out of touch with what terrorism actually is that they are willing to defame, by way of analogy, a vast group of people? We have members who lost friends to terrorists in the 9/11 attacks. We do not have any members who have lost friends due to peaceful protest.”

Noted ‘conservanerd‘ David Brooks has abandoned all pretense of conservatism in his latest New York Times column titled “The Mother of All No-Brainers.”  It’s pretty clear that he believes that his readers are the brainless ones – rarely have so many shaky premises, false assertions and heapin’ helpings of pure nonsense been gathered into one NYT opinion column.  That’s saying something.

Brooks is Obama and Axelrod’s favorite pseudo-conservative for a reason: his creepily slavish devotion to the idea that we mere drones need to be guided, led and – sadly yes, controlled – by a coterie of Ivy League-indoctrinated betters who will lead us out of the darkness of our sad little lives.  These wise leaders may be identified by the crease in their slacks – Obama’s sharp press famously demonstrated to Brooks that The One would be The One.  It’s that kind of profound insight that has made David Brooks the most popular conservative pundit among those who hate and despise everything conservatives stand for.

Let’s take a quick look at the cheesy rhetoric and flabby thinking that this servant of the failed status quo put out on the Fourth of July.  It’s a wonderful illustration of how liberals argue – and provides a lesson in countering the nonsense.

The Republicans have changed American politics since they took control of the House of Representatives. They have put spending restraint and debt reduction at the top of the national agenda … Republican leaders have also proved to be effective negotiators.

First, he sucks up to the conservatives.  This is to try and make us think he is one of us, that he speaks as a friend instead of the house servant of his lefty overlords.  Feel your defenses crumbling?  Then:

[The Democrats] have agreed not to raise tax rates.

Wait, what?  Since when have the Democrats agreed not to raise tax rates?  Isn’t the President still talking about raising the rates next year, or is that one of those inconvenient truths?

[The Democrats] have agreed to a roughly 3-to-1 rate of spending cuts to revenue increases, an astonishing concession.

Hold on … weren’t they agreeing not to raise rates just a sentence ago?  Or are these “revenue increases” – don’t you love euphemisms? – all going to come from wiping out the scourge of corporate jets?  Whatever.

And wait a second – exactly who has agreed to this 3-to-1 ratio?  It best not be someone on the GOP side unless she or she wants a well-funded primary opponent next year.

Watch out, because these harmless “revenue increases” are “to close loopholes and eliminate tax expenditures.”  The “tax expenditures” language is priceless – as if the government “spends” money by not taking it.  And the “loopholes” are the same kind of deductions that every business takes – deductions merely being a recognition of costs since what is taxed is profits.  David, if you want to get on board with a low corporate tax rate and wipe out most all deductions, we conservatives might be on board.  But you don’t.  You want to raise rates without raising marginal rates; the sneaky way to do that is make more income taxable by eliminating deductions.  And you think your readers are too stupid to see that.

And now comes the good part.

JIM LEHRER:  Good evening.  In an interview on Chris Matthews’ Hardball last night, President Obama tried to quiet skeptics who believe the raid on Osama bin Laden’s compound in Pakistan was a sham staged by the U. S. military.   The President also said he is not awed by the power at his command.  Here’s a clip:

OBAMA: I want to show you something, Chris.  [unwrapping a handkerchief] This is bin Laden’s right ear.  I wanted a finger but they were all gone by the time I requested one.   Look at this closeup of Osama from 1997.   Check the right ear.  OK, now examine the real thing here.  Compare the folds, crevices, and ridges.  Clearly identical, yes?  No two ears are alike, Chris.  The one I’m holding was attached to bin Laden’s head.  Case closed.

MATTHEWS: I’m convinced, Mr. President.  Hey, you gonna eat that?  Ah, just pulling your leg, sir.   Last question: you are the Commander-in-Chief of the mightiest military machine on earth.  Are you humbled by the power you possess?

OBAMA:  Humbled?  [snort] Hardly.  I’ve grown in office, Chris.  The bin Laden raid and Libya have actually eased my mind about the use of force.  I want you to meet someone, Chris, the man with the “nuclear football.”  [gestures to military attaché standing out of camera range] C’mon over here, Captain, Major, whatever.  Open up the briefcase . . . .  I’m giving you an order, soldier.   Now show Mr. Matthews which button I push to take out China.  The red one?  Put your finger on it, Chris.  Go ahead, touch it.  Press it and our world goes poof.  Gives you a little thrill, doesn’t it, Chris?  Makes you feel like a God?

LEHRER:  More of the President’s interview with Matthews later in the program.

JUDY WOODRUFF:  Also on the NewsHour tonight: (more…)

Washington (AP) – In a stunning announcement this morning on The Today Show, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told host Matt Lauer she will leave the Administration and challenge Barack Obama for the 2012 Democratic Presidential nomination.

Transcript follows:

LAUER:  Thanks for coming on, Madame Secretary.  Let’s get right to it:  will you seek the Presidency next year?

CLINTON:  Yes, Matt.  Our country’s heading in the wrong direction way too fast.  We must slow down if we wish to delay our collapse by a couple of decades.  So I’m reporting for duty.

LAUER:  Opens you up to a disloyalty charge.

CLINTON:  Somebody has to speak up.  Obama’s poll numbers suggest we’re on track to lose both the White House and Senate, Matt.  Meanwhile, my numbers are in the stratosphere, mainly because people like you have generously ignored my disastrous tenure at State.

LAUER:  [blushing] Well, it’s what we do, Ma’m.

CLINTON:  Last week, I offered the President an option to avoid a primary battle.   He rejected it.

LAUER:  What option?

CLINTON:  Replace Biden on the ticket with me.  I’d rally the troops.  We’d win and, at the least, retain the Senate.  Then Obama does the mother of all end runs around the Constitution and names me CP—Co-President.  In January, 2012, we take the oath together and deliver dual inaugural addresses. VP Joe Biden’s Staff Stuffs Reporter in a Closet–

The most transparent administration in history stuffed a pool reporter in a closet for over an hour at a fundraiser this week.

From the Drudge Report:

Staffers with Vice President Joe Biden confined an Orlando Sentinel reporter in a closet this week to keep him from mingling with high-powered guests gathered for a Democratic fundraiser.

Reporter Scott Powers was the designated “pool reporter” for the vice president’s Wednesday visit to the massive Winter Park, Fla., home of developer and philanthropist Alan Ginsburg. The veep hadn’t arrived yet but most of the 150 guests (minimum $500 donation) had. They were busy noshing on caprese crostini with oven-dried mozzarella and basil, rosemary flatbread with grapes honey and gorgonzola cheese and bacon deviled eggs, before a lunch of grilled chicken Caesar and garden vegetable wraps.

Not so for Powers. A “low-level staffer” put Powers in a storage closet and then stood guard outside the door, Powers told the DRUDGE REPORT. “When I’d stick my head out, they’d say, ‘Not yet. We’ll let you know when you can come out.’”

The two latest examples of Democrat ineptitude, incompetence and total math fail come to us from none other than Nancy Pelosi (the best speaker of the house EVAH)  and Joe “doll hair” Biden. First up is Nancy Pelosi with both bad math and shameless lies. As Ben Domenech points out at RedState, Pelosi claimed that Obamacare would create (or save!) 4 million jobs with 400,000 of them being created immediately. While no one else could know what was in the bill, before they passed the bill, she was somehow magically able to pull that figure out of her arse.  Why? Because it was a total lie.  In fact, the bill actually lost Americans nearly 800,000 jobs. (pdf)  Eh. Why let pesky old facts and figures get in the way of lies and damn lies?  Plus, math is hard anyway.

Telling the truth is difficult too, evidently. If you are a Democrat, at least. Remember, that whole “jobs bill” was also a total fabrication.

PROMISES, PROMISES: Jobs Bill Won’t Add Many Jobs

WASHINGTON (AP) — It’s a bipartisan jobs bill that would hand President Barack Obama a badly needed political victory and placate Republicans with tax cuts at the same time. But it has a problem: It won’t create many jobs.

[snip]

”We’re skeptical that it’s going to be a big job creator,” said Bill Rys, tax counsel for the National Federation of Independent Business. ”There’s certainly nothing wrong with giving a tax break to a business that’s hired a new worker, especially in these tough times. But in terms of being an incentive to hire a lot of workers, we’re skeptical.”

Whoops! Jobs Shmobs; it’s all about the speeches, baby. If only they would spend more time explaining their outright fallacies to us rubes. That is the problem, you see. It couldn’t possibly be that everything they touch turns into massive fail.  That’s what happens when the people in charge have never actually ran a business or, you know, lived and worked in the real world. No wonder President Obama, and most of the Democrats on the campaign trail, are always talking about how they “hear stories”.  It is because they have zero real world experience of their own. I wonder if they can see November from their Ivory Towers?

OBAMA: The party’s hemorrhaging elderly voters over ObamaCare despite Andy Griffith’s help.   And even the Times says the plan’s numbers don’t add up.  What now?  David?

AXELROD:  Two tracks, sir.  Short term, lure seniors back.  We need their votes in November to keep the Senate, at least.  Long term, address the program’s fiscal time bomb.

OBAMA:  OK.  How do we get Democrats bragging to oldsters about their support for the “Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act”?   HHS?

SEBELIUS:  Sir, announce that attorneys reviewing the law have determined that language in Part 3, Sec 1141, (a), (1) suggests seniors’ pets may be considered ”partners,” and therefore eligible for health insurance as dependents of covered humans.

monkey-typing (1)

JOE BIDEN:  Nice!  But . . . who’d, uh, vet the claims?  Hahahahaha.

OBAMA:  Be quiet, Joe.  Remember, Hillary’s in the wings.  Whaddya think, Tim?

GEITHNER: Too costly, sir . . . unless the only treatment option for animals was to put them down.

LARRY SUMMERS:  That works for me.  Even so, there’s just enough scratch in the budget we haven’t passed yet to euthanize felines.  Dogs will have to wait.

OBAMA:  Agreed.  Let’s call the subsidiary program “Medicat.” “Peticare” sounds too  . . .  inclusive.  Other ideas to energize old folks?  Nancy? (more…)
