Yesterday, NPR aired a story by Ari Shapiro on President Barack Obama’s attempts to court Latino voters. According to Shapiro, Obama’s “accomplishments for Latinos” include the following–purely symbolic–feats: a visit to Puerto Rico, appointing Sonya Sotomayor as “the first Hispanic Supreme Court Justice” (forgetting Cardozo), and meetings “with Hispanic celebrities, activists and policy groups for summits, lunches and parties.”

Shaprio left out that fewer than 50% of Latinos say are certain to vote for Obama, and that Obama’s approval in Gallup polls is falling faster among Hispanics than any other ethnic group.

Shapiro did, however, highlight negative reaction from the National Council of La Raza to the fact that no GOP presidential candidates agreed to address its annual conference–without mentioning La Raza’s radicalism as a possible factor.

Shapiro’s bias was most evident when applauding President Obama for his grotesque, dishonest, and hyper-partisan attack on Republicans during his recent immigration speech in El Paso, Texas:

You know, they said we needed to triple the Border Patrol. Now they’re going to say we need to quadruple the Border Patrol, or they’ll want a higher fence. Maybe they’ll need a moat — maybe they want alligators in the moat.

The patriotic immigration reform movement lost one of its most creative warriors last week.

Terry Anderson, the self-described “prisoner of South Central,” an African-American Los Angeles talk show host, succumbed to pancreatic cancer and died on July 7.

Anderson was the loud voice of the Sunday evening The Terry Anderson Show. The show, built around the single issue of immigration, was known for “articulating the popular rage.” It aired on KRLA radio and the internet.

And rage he did. Articulately. Against La Raza, John McCain, the Southern Poverty Law Center, Janet Napolitano, Cardinal Roger Mahony, Lindsey Graham, Antonio Villaraigosa, and the Obama Administration. In short, any sanctimonious phony who had allowed the country he loved – especially his corner of southern California – to be invaded by illegals.

For an auto mechanic, whose idea of a fashion statement was donning overalls, he was a natural communicator with a commanding presence. (more…)

Washington, D. C. (AP) – Shades of Michael Steele.  Two days after the Justice Department filed suit against Arizona for criminalizing illegal behavior, Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean is under fire over unscripted remarks he made last week at a University of Mexico symposium on immigration.

Howard-Dean

The event was sponsored by the National Council of La Raza [The Race] and Reconquista, a loose affiliation of groups whose goal is to reclaim the southwestern United States for Mexico.

Surreptitiously filmed, Dean’s appearance was posted on YouTube Monday afternoon and pulled Tuesday morning, hours after President Obama ordered the FCC to put its boot on YouTube’s neck until it takes down all the anti-Alinksy videos currently posted and replaces them with fawning, misty reminiscences of the good old days of the class struggle.

A high-ranking administration source told ABC News that President Obama dissociates himself from Dean’s comments for the time being. “We sent him as an observer, not a participant.  The chairman should not have revealed private discussions he had with the president about how to make the border with Mexico more porous while appearing to secure it.”

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs weighed in at his briefing yesterday, calling Dean’s comments a Republican dirty trick designed to muddy the immigration waters.  “It’s fishy,” Gibbs said.  “Who really organized the conference?  Who invited Dean?  Who gave him the floor?  This smells, my friends.”

La Raza, MALDEF, MEChA, and all the rest of the shameless open-borders crowd should be quaking in their collectivist sandals. A fiery, well-spoken, and very wise Latina says that Arizona has the right to “protect our state from foreign invasion.”

That would be Gabriela Saucedo. In this YouTube video, Gabriela, who became a U.S. citizen in 1991, delivers a riveting defense of American sovereignty and SB 1070 (Paging Eric Holder and Janet Napolitano. She’s read the bill! She brings copies to the meeting!) to Mayor Bob Walkup and the Tucson City Council during the public comment portion of a meeting.

“The lack of support, from you, our elected officials, regarding this law is shameful!” scolds Gabby, as she takes a shot at her boycott-supporting congressman, Raul Grijalva, and her anti-rule-of-law city councilwoman, Regina Romero.

If there was some way to check the eligibility of every voter showing up at the polls on Election Day, would the Democrats be in power today? Every attempt to legislate safeguards against voter fraud has been stymied by them with charges of racism being hurled.

On the same day that the House of Representatives was voting for the evil health care reform bill, there was a rally calling for immigration reform and the call for amnesty was heard over and over.

Although the crowd at the rally appears to be mostly minority protesters, it might surprise many to learn that there are many Hispanics who are against illegal immigration and amnesty. They are however invisible to the mainstream media.

The president of NY ICE ((New Yorkers for Immigration Control and Enforcement) is a Hispanic woman, Joanna Marzullo, known to us as Progress Rose. She picked up the following Spanish language voter registration form in Manhattan and you will note the highlighted question translated : Were you born in North America? (more…)
