Good morning, Mainstream Media. How are things under the Obama bus? Please tell Jeremiah Wright and Bill Ayers we say hello. You remember them. You helped Obama hide them there.
Frequently, I refer to the mainstream media as Obama’s Palace Guards. But maybe “secret service” would be a better term today, because this time the MSM has apparently decided to take a public relations bullet for Their Precious One.
The story goes a little something like this. Over Halloween in 2009, during the depths of the Great Recession, the White House threw a lavish party for children from all walks of life, including local DC kids, military families, and friends of the President’s two young daughters, Malia and Sasha. The theme was “Alice In Wonderland” and director Tim Burton, whose film based on the classic story was about to be released in theatres, attended, as did his star, Johnny Depp, who reportedly greeted guests in character and costume as the Mad Hatter.
More details:
The ever-objective LA Times cited left-wing propaganda site Media Matters in a piece wherein the likeness of Michelle Obama as Marie Antoinette was deemed “racist®.”
The caricature of Obama as a profligate queen relies on the racist stereotype of an “uppity Negro,” which emerged among slave masters in an earlier American era.
You can’t be serious. Progressives’s incessant use of the race card to defame and libel Americans into silence as a bully tactic is what truly invokes racist comparisons. The modern day Bull Connor, ready to unleash the attack dogs on anyone who dares to disagree with the administration. Want to control your own health care? Racist®! Want a balanced budget amendment? Racist®! Believe that congress should spend within its means? Racist®! Point out statistics that more Americans than ever are on food stamps? Racist®!
Michelle Obama has received intense criticism for the flagrant way in which she spends taxpayer money and the tone-deafness she demonstrates. Two-thousand dollar dresses, wearing sneakers that cost the equivalent of three months mortgage payments while at a homeless shelter, insisting on million-dollar Hawaiian vacations while your husband simultaneously lectures Americans about scaling back, yes, the comparison to Antoinette is apropos. Those who call it racist® demonstrate the failings of public education. Antoinette was considered extravagant while France starved. Along the line of progressive thinking, heaven forbid Barack Obama ever get his likeness on Mount Rushmore for fear of defeated liberals crying out “uppity!”
The racist image appeared Tuesday on the right-wing blog Gateway Pundit; the slur was later called out by Media Matters for America.
What blows my mind about this is that the LA Times quoted propaganda site Media Matters as an authority on this. Where were the partisan hacks at the LA Times when Media Matters was paid by SEIU to attack black conservatives in the wake of the Kenneth Gladney beating? If we’re going to discuss racism, there’s a cover story right there.
Christopher Knight writes for the “Culture Monster” a column over at ”The Incredibly Shrinking L.A. Times,” and guess what our progressive friend sees when he looks at this innocuous and obvious political cartoon of First Lady Michelle Obama:
Believe it or not, Mr. Knight sees an “uppity Negro.” Those aren’t my words, those are his:
The caricature of Obama as a profligate queen relies on the racist stereotype of an “uppity Negro[.]“
Who other than someone with their own disturbing prejudices would look at that obvious piece of political satire hitting the First lady up for her excessive and lavish vacationing and think “uppity Negro”?
Naturally, though, like all bigoted leftists, Knight attempts to project his own troubling racial issues on others:
Personally, I don’t care what Michelle Antoinette wears on her taxpayer-funded lavish Hawaiian vacations with her husband President FailureTeleprompterDuffer. Thanks to an autobiography that was probably ghost-written by domestic terrorist Bill Ayers, Obama’s a millionaire and more power to him. If the First Lady wants to lord over the peasantry her fashionable dresses and skirts and purses that cost enough to feed about 500 hungry families, that’s Our Champions Of The Poor’s business. The same is true with what the GOP chooses to spend their money on during a campaign. The attacks directed at Governor Sarah Palin over the clothes supplied to her during the 2008 election were silly, stupid intentional distractions ginned up by Obama’s MSM Palace Guards.
What isn’t silly and stupid is that the left-wing, journOlist-infested institution known as Politico was obsessed with Palin’s wardrobe in ‘08 and one of the prime drivers of that narrative. Just for starters see here, here, here, and most especially here.
And now for the news that will surprise no one. A good faith search has revealed that the left-wing, journOlist-infested institution known as Politico isn’t at all interested in Michelle Obama’s pricey wardrobe. Nothing here or here. And if I did miss a mention, it still won’t compare to their Palin firestorm.
In their defense, however, Politico has been awfully busy. Why, there’s White House spin to spread, those hundreds of articles necessary to cover 15 year-old harassment claims against Herman Cain, strategic memos to craft in order to get Obama’s Occupy Wall Street allies back in the 2012 game, and the frantic journOlisiting necessary to protect Obama from critics of his excessive golfing.
The Soros and SEIU-funded Media Matters is smarting over three losses these past two weeks. First there was the Simon Wiesenthal Center slamming Media Matters for America for its anti-Israel screeds, the second was Politico calling the propaganda site a “core institution” of the Democrat party, and the third was the Girls Scouts backing away from linking to the site in its brochures. Because of this stellar track record Media Matters decides to throw another noodle at the wall and reverse its position on “class warfare” by defending the $2k dresses (to say nothing of the shoes and handbags) worn by the First Lady:
- Michelle Obama wears two-thousand dollar sundresses on her taxpayer-supported Hawaiian vacation. Do you think the media will report this the same way they reported Gingrich’s Tiffany credit line or Romney’s bet?
Not only will the media not report on this, but propaganda sites like Media Matters defend it – yet they attacked Sarah Palin for slamming the wardrobe criticism and tried to justify it by saying that the other political candidates were subjected to the same level of scrutiny, which was a lie.
Newt Gingrich’s $500k credit line at Tiffany’s made headlines for weeks. Mitt Romney’s facetious $10k debate bet to Rick Perry was used as a sound bite to show him as an evil one percenter out of touch with voters. Somehow, the Wall Street President remains unscathed and untouched throughout it all.
Media headlines leading up to Christmas gingerly (save for the British Daily Mail and the National Enquirer) touched on the First Family’s million-dollar 17-day vacation. Reports of discord in the White House because the President wanted a low-coast Camp David Christmas went mostly unpublished. The First Lady, via various accounts, is said to have pushed for the expensive holiday; while the First Family is said to be covering the cost of their shelter while in Hawaii, the travel and security — costing in the hundreds of thousands — will again be footed by taxpayers. This isn’t unique: FLOTUS’s previous trips, including her vacation to Europe, were footed by the taxpayer.
- “Journalist” (activist) Jose Vargas was kicked out of Romney event in Iowa when Vargas showed up to protest. Or report. To so many of them activism = “reporting.”
- Foreign documentary filmmaker with an axe to grind shocked that Palin doesn’t want to interview with him.
There is growing criticism of Sarah after the shooting of congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords in Texas. Sarah had published a map placing the crosshairs of a gun over Democratic areas supporting President Obama’s healthcare plans. Mrs Giffords, a Democrat, had warned there would be consequences. And there were. She was shot.
We decide that the only way of reaching Sarah is to attend a rally. We find one billed as a ‘question and answer’ session. The questions are all scripted. With some difficulty, I shout: ‘Do you think your political career is over?’
This is met with an audible gasp from the packed auditorium. Sarah looks startled. And I am escorted from the building.
The DLC also targeted Giffords’ district on a map. And she was shot. Cue thriller music.
- Baldwin vs Whoopi. “Put the phone down!”
Yesterday First Lady Michelle Obama and Jill Biden appeared at the last NASCAR race of the season to serve as co-grand marshals and shout “Gentlemen, start your engines!” The appearance was part of the Joining Forces initiative and yesterday, according to the White House, FLOTUS was joined by “5,000 active duty and retired military personnel and families and thousands of NASCAR fans” and was loudly booed when her name was announced over the loud speakers.
At an event with such an apparently unifying theme, the crowd’s reaction was an ugly reminder of how personally some have taken the political divisions in our country.
It’s not a recent occurrence, and to my memory, this is the first time that a Democrat has been publicly booed. I certainly don’t recall progressive media condemning how Sarah Palin was booed at a hockey game in Philadelphia:
For those who argue that “Palin wasn’t a First Lady,” what about when progressives booed George Bush at Obama’s inauguration?
Chris Matthews, who recently blasted Obama, seems to have made the only condemnation of the thousands booing.
I’ve always said that respect for public office is a two-way street, and the ultimate failure of this is when the individual holding said office doesn’t themselves demonstrate respect for it.
Is it really a surprise that after three-and-a-half years of being demonized by the party of the President and First Lady (when they aren’t doing the demonizing themselves) that Americans would issue a frosty reception? This is the same President that called Americans “bitter clingers” [their emphasis]:
And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy toward people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.
If we’re to discuss manners, I’d say here are several instances where etiquette was breached. If we’re to discuss manners, I’d say etiquette was also breached with the White House’s sanctioning via a corrupt DOJ the murder of border agents with our own federally-funded guns program, Fast and Furious. If manners are sacred, then I’d say etiquette was defiled when the White House took half-a-billion dollars of public money and funneled it to a failing green energy company belonging to his biggest fundraising bundler. I see little in the way of headlines concerning these.
Frankly, I’ll not be lectured to about civility by people who endorse this:
- Color television celebrated its 60th birthday yesterday.
- In a move sure to again infuriate progressives, CNN will partner with the Florida GOP in a debate set for after the first of the year.
- Some silly catfight over Nikki Finke.
- The media can’t stop obsessing over — no, not Fast and Furious or Solyndra — Chris Christie’s weight.

In an article titled ”Michelle Obama’s Target Trip,” Politico palace guards for Obama and buries the lead:
Never has a Target dash caused such a ruckus. Jennifer Lopez could probably shop at Target without creating a stir equal to that caused by the first lady after she made an unannounced, midafternoon trip Thursday to the mega-retailer in Alexandria, Va. …
A matter causing some suspicion about the trip is how an Associated Press photographer happened to be in position to catch the first lady — in baseball hat, sunglasses, flowered top, with tan purse and shopping bags — leaving the store.
“Good source work,” said Paul Colford, a spokesman for the wire service in New York.
The pictures were taken by Charles Dharapak, a veteran White House photographer for The Associated Press. The well-regarded Dharapak cheerfully declined to give POLITICO an exclusive on his exclusive.
“We have been besieged with interview requests, but Charlie has done not a single one,” Colford said.
Oh, it was just “good source work.”
Then why isn’t the photographer talking? Why no interviews? What we have here is a member of the media refusing to report. Are you suspicious, because I’m suspicious. But do you want to know who isn’t suspicious? Politico.
- What NBC News producers do when they retire? The same thing they always did, perhaps, influence news coverage? Former NBC News Producer Yells at NPR For Missing Leftist Wall St. Protest:

If the Tea Party farts, that’s news. But God forbid you should cover anything too far left of center.
- Also, did NBC anchor Brian Williams reveal a bit more than he intended when mentioning that the President of NBC News, Steve Capus, told him it’s okay for a news division to stand for something? Is that really “standing” or is it actually “leaning?”
Williams, who was speaking at the conclusion of NBC’s second Education Nation on Tuesday and introducing Capus at the time, raised as many questions as he answered with the revelation of Capus’ earlier remarks.
- Did Sarah Palin really insult Herman Cain by calling him “the flavor of the week?” And, if not, what role did new media play in debunking such a myth?
Progressive media has launched a new attack on Rep. Michele Bachmann, that of her husband’s health clinic which received Medicaid patients.
On Wednesday’s NBC Today, correspondent Kelly O’Donnell declared that Michele Bachmann “faces new candidate scrutiny, including financial records for a family business” and proceeded to hype a non-controversy of a mental health clinic run by Michele Bachmann’s husband accepting Medicaid reimbursements for treating low-income patients.
[...]
O’DONNELL: The couple owns Bachmann & Associates, a Minnesota mental health clinic run by the Congresswoman’s husband, who is a clinical therapist. While Bachmann campaigns for less government spending and opposes an expansion of Medicaid, NBC News obtained state records that show the Bachmanns’ clinic received government funds. $137,000 In federal and state medicaid payments since 2005. That money considered reimbursement for treatment provided to low-income patients.
NBC makes many assumptions in this story, the immediate being that the Bachmanns were getting rich off government money and Medicaid patients. As any health facility or practitioner will tell you, you don’t get rich off of Medicaid. You lose money with Medicaid. The American Hospitals Association released a report in 2009 showing that for every dollar spent on caring for Medicaid patients, facilities only received 89 cents on the dollar in return — a loss on services.
An Interview with President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama
May 1, 2011
MAX RESNIK: Welcome President and Mrs. Obama. Sir, I assume you agreed to appear on Shalom TV because polls show your support among Jews cratering?
OBAMA: Correct, Max. Since Election Night 2008, my approval rating in the Jewish community is down from 80% to 40%. As I said to my aides, oi vey.
RESNIK: Mr. President, short of declaring without reservation that you believe Israel had nothing to do with 9/11, how can you possibly turn those numbers around before November 2012?
OBAMA: I want Jews to start paying closer attention, Max. Are your viewers aware Nation of Islam’s Louis Farrakhan recently called me “the first Jewish President”? Or Joe Biden saying “I am a Zionist” on this very network in 2007? How about yesterday, when I ruled out a freeze on Jewish construction on Manhattan’s Upper East Side? And, and . . . .
MICHELLE: Go ahead . . . tell him.
OBAMA: Well, you heard it here first, Max: I’ve changed my named to Barach [Baracchhk] Obauma and converted to Judaism.
RESNIK: Whoa.
MICHELLE: My idea, Max. Now we can play both the race and anti-Semite cards.
RESNIK: But . . . conversion rituals may take anywhere from six months to a year. You live in a bubble, Mr. President. When did you do this?
OBAUMA: April 6. I was in New York talking education at an event with Al Sharpton. Only it wasn’t me. It was Saturday Night Live’s Fred Armisen filling in for me. (more…)
