What? More violence and fighting at an OWS encampment? Say it isn’t so? A tale of two cities’ coverage: Nashville immediately reported the slapfight at their OWS hobo HQ:

Occupy Nashville protesters have been together since October 6 on Legislative Plaza. But on a day that many intended to be full of festivities, quite the opposite took center stage for a time …

… NewsChannel 5’s videojournalist was on assignment at Legislative Plaza Sunday covering the holiday celebration, when the angle of the story suddenly changed. Two of the protesters started arguing with each other; one of them was three-months pregnant. Harsh words led to hair pulling and punching, and both of them landed on the ground.

While other protesters tried to break up the situation, NewsChannel 5’s videographer called 911 for help. Medics rushed to the scene and took the pregnant protester to the hospital to be checked out.  Police started investigating the situation, and charges may be filed.

A week ago, news began to break in San Francisco about a targeted gay-bashing crime that allegedly occurred on February 26.

Three cousins from Hayward have been charged in San Francisco with a hate crime and assault for allegedly firing a BB rifle at the face of a man they believed was gay, an attack the men videotaped, authorities said Wednesday.

Investigators believe the assailants chose the victim because he appeared to be gay. When the men were pulled over, police found a video camera that was used to film the shooting, investigators said.

Clearly, of course, this had to be a Christian right-wing, tea party, anti-government, bigoted homophobe from the South. Right?

The three men, Shafiq Hashemi, 21, Sayed Bassam, 21, and Mohammad Habibzada, 24, the driver, were arrested. (more…)

Courtesy of the great Instapundit, Glenn Reynolds, and PJTV comes this lovely interview with the face of the next generation of conservatives, Lyda Loudon, who’s all of fourteen years old.  The interview was conducted during the recent National Tea Party Convention in Nashville as part of the new Tea Party TV.

And don’t miss Glenn’s latest Insta-column about the Tea Parties in today’s Wall Street Journal.  Be sure to read the whole thing:

Tea partiers are still angry at federal deficits, at Washington’s habit of rewarding failure with handouts and punishing success with taxes and regulation, and the general incompetence that has marked the first year of the Obama presidency. But they’re no longer depressed.

Instead, they seem energized. And surprisingly media savvy. William Temple donned colonial dress knowing that it would be an irresistible lure to TV cameras. When the cameras trained on him, he regaled interviewers with well-informed discussion of constitutional history. Other attendees were hawking DVDs, books, and Web sites promoting tea-party ideals, while discussing the use of tools like Facebook, YouTube and Twitter for political organizing. (more…)
