You can’t retract hate. You can’t retract idiocy. You can’t retract bigotry. You can’t retract irresponsible claims masquerading as journalism. It’s time to fire Paul Krugman, Keith Olbermann, and New York Times’ Editor-in-Chief Bill Keller for printing and broadcasting blood libelous statements intended to directly link Sarah Palin, Bill O’Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, the Tea Party movement, and conservatives in general to the Arizona massacre on Saturday.

These phony journalists and commentators should be fired for unethical media practices, for libel, for slander, and for perpetuating the culture of hate and bigotry they falsely claim to be so passionately against.

Not even a day after the tragedy, New York Times columnist Paul Krugman wrote an editorial called, “A Climate of Hate,” and he did so without any facts. He laced his January 9th editorial diatribe with his wish-filled assumption that Jared Loughner’s insane killing spree was linked to Sarah Palin and conservative, tea party, and talk radio rhetoric.

The reason given by NPR for firing Juan Williams was  comments he made on the Bill O’Reilly show earlier this week. In truth, Williams wasn’t fired for the comments he made, but for where he made them, Fox News. NPR even admitted it in their official statement on Williams departure.

Williams’ presence on the largely conservative and often contentious prime-time talk shows of Fox News has long been a sore point with NPR News executives.

Most probably, NPR had a partner in the decision.  This was the opening shot of the White House’s escalation of its war on Fox News. Its intent was to send shivers down the spine of any journalist or news network that cooperates with Fox News.

Williams is one of the regular liberal voices on the O’Reilly Factor (as well as other Fox Programs). On Monday’s show Juan said:

I mean, look, Bill, I’m not a bigot. You know the kind of books I’ve written about the civil rights movement in this country. But when I get on the plane, I got to tell you, if I see people who are in Muslim garb and I think, you know, they are identifying themselves first and foremost as Muslims, I get worried. I get nervous.

NPR felt that comments “were inconsistent with our editorial standards and practices, and undermined his credibility as a news analyst with NPR.”

Huh? For one thing Williams comments were more tame than President Obama made of his late grandmother: (more…)

After 14 months of committing 100% to health care reform, the day after the signing of the Health Care bill was to mark the Democratic Party’s new primary concern: destroy the uprising, annihilate by all means necessary, the Tea Party movement.

The first sign that a plan was in place was the ham-fisted, high-camp posturing of the most controversial members of the Democratic caucus walking through the peaceful but animated “Tea Party” demonstrators on Capitol Hill. There is no reason for these elected officials to walk above ground through the media circus amid their ideological foes. The natural route is the tunnels between the House office buildings and the Capitol. By crafting a highly symbolic walk of the Congressional Black Caucus through the majority white crowd, the Democratic Party was looking to provoke a negative reaction. They didn’t get it. So they made it up.

The proof that the N-word wasn’t said once, let alone 15 times, as Rep. Andre Carson claimed, is that soon thereafter — even though the press dutifully reported it as truth — Nancy Pelosi followed the alleged hate fest, which allegedly included someone spitting, by walking through the crowd with a gavel in hand and a shit-eating grin on her face. Had the incidents reported by the Congressional Black Caucus actually occurred the Capitol Police would have been negligent to allow the least popular person to that crowd – the Speaker – to put herself in harm’s way.

That crowd was a sea of new-media equipment. Not only were tens of thousands people armed with handicams, BlackBerrys and iPods, so also was the mainstream media there, covering every inch of the event. Why did not one mainstream media outlet raise the specter that perhaps a video would exist to prove the events occurred? I am still dealing with the same press telling me we didn’t prove that ACORN was aiding and abetting criminal activity because we “did not provide enough audio and video evidence.” (Insert laugh track.) Is there not a blatant double standard at play here? Nancy Pelosi tipped her hand that race was a central part of her strategy. She invoked the Civil Rights Act and compared it with the universally reviled health care bill. Her caucus is doubling down on the civil-rights rhetoric. There are no coincidences.

President Obama agreed to a FOX News interview in the 11th hour of his big push toward a healthcare bill in order to reach FOX’s audience of Democrats and Independents. A few of us wondered if the network would, in appreciation for the President temporarily lifting his embargo of FOX, stage a milk toast interview and lob softball questions. After all, when FOX’s Bill “I’m lookin’ out for the folks” O’Reilly finally landed an interview with candidate Obama, it was an innocuous non-event.

But in this latest FOX interview, Bret Baier showed us how a genuine professional TV journalist works.

It was clearly the President’s intent to filibuster most of the approximately 15 minutes devoted to the healthcare bill, repeating all the same talking points we’ve heard ad nauseum for a year. Obama never intended to directly answer Baier’s questions. That strategy was, to use a favorite word of his administration, transparent. (more…)
