Politicizing any tragic event for the sake of political posturing is despicable. And that’s exactly what the left did on Saturday before the bodies of the victims of Lee Loughner’s massacre were even cold. It’s deplorable to point fingers and play the partisan game, but the right has to respond to the left’s rhetoric. Citing blogs and tweets to point out hypocrisy of the left’s behavior concerning an incident of such horrible violence makes me sick to my stomach. But if we don’t engage the left, even at their most disgusting states, they will dominate the narrative. If the left had their way, they would have you believe that the responsibility for Saturday’s events rested solely on the shoulders of Sarah Palin, the Tea Party, Glenn Beck and Andrew Breitbart. It’s disgusting, despicable, insensitive to the victims and provably false. But that’s how the left wants this event to go down in the history books and those of us on the right have to engage.

I wasn’t prepared for what I saw in my news feed on Twitter that morning. I assumed it would be updates and conflicting reports of the chaotic events (which there was plenty of that). But within 30 minutes of the story catching fire, my timeline was filled with radical leftist ranting against the Tea Party, Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck, and Andrew Breitbart.

Eric Boehlert first re-tweeted someone blaming Palin for the shooting. I don’t necessarily equate re-tweets as an endorsement so I let that one slide past without comment. I just couldn’t believe that even someone as ridiculous as Eric Boehlert would actually ascribe blame and political posturing before any facts were known about the incident. Minutes later Bohlert linked to Andrew Breitbart’s breitbart.tv livestream of the CNN coverage citing a commenter as “proof” of the approval of violence from the right. Disgusting.

It seems that MMFA has taken quite a turn from the previous shooter situation. Look at how Media Matters treated the Discovery Channel incident:

When it’s apparent that the insane person with the gun might lean toward the extreme left, Media Matters takes the road of “this isn’t a time to score political points.”

My wife says that I am too much of a worrier. Usually my concern surrounds my kids, family, or a close friend. Very rarely have I worried about a public figure and certainly never worried about an entire website.  During the past few days this worrying has caused a loss of sleep and it’s not even a “someone,” it’s a web site. Something horrible must have happened to Media Matters, the protectors of the Jewish people.

You may remember in a recent story about Helen Thomas’ anti-Semitic comments, I concluded with challenge:

… allow me to send a shout-out to the hypocritical folks at Media Matters, you enjoy blasting conservative figures such as Glenn Beck with trumped up charges of Antisemitism, along with writing up one-sided editorials about people throwing around Nazi-related terms.  Since you folks have set yourselves up as the “protector of all Jews” will you now write something that criticizes real Antisemitism spewed out by the progressive Helen Thomas? ….So my progressive friends are you going to finally accept the fact that it is humanly possible for a progressive to be a hater? Maybe after you are done with Helen you can go two of the most Anti-Semitic sites on the internet, the progressive Daily Kos, and the progressive Huffington Post.

That’s if George Soros allows you to.

There is no doubt that Media Matters would read and respond to my challenge, after all they have read and criticized my posts before.   Based on their fake criticism of people like Glenn Beck, one would think they would just love to sink their teeth into a real case of Antisemitism, after all they are the protector of all things Jewish in America. Media Matters truly cares about Antisemitism, that’s why they spend all of that time protecting George Soros, calling almost everyone who criticizes “the spooky dude” a Jew hater.

Despite their desire to protect all things Jewish (and my little challenge) Media Matters has been strangely silent. And the longer their silence, the more I am concerned for their well-being. (more…)

The reason given by NPR for firing Juan Williams was  comments he made on the Bill O’Reilly show earlier this week. In truth, Williams wasn’t fired for the comments he made, but for where he made them, Fox News. NPR even admitted it in their official statement on Williams departure.

Williams’ presence on the largely conservative and often contentious prime-time talk shows of Fox News has long been a sore point with NPR News executives.

Most probably, NPR had a partner in the decision.  This was the opening shot of the White House’s escalation of its war on Fox News. Its intent was to send shivers down the spine of any journalist or news network that cooperates with Fox News.

Williams is one of the regular liberal voices on the O’Reilly Factor (as well as other Fox Programs). On Monday’s show Juan said:

I mean, look, Bill, I’m not a bigot. You know the kind of books I’ve written about the civil rights movement in this country. But when I get on the plane, I got to tell you, if I see people who are in Muslim garb and I think, you know, they are identifying themselves first and foremost as Muslims, I get worried. I get nervous.

NPR felt that comments “were inconsistent with our editorial standards and practices, and undermined his credibility as a news analyst with NPR.”

Huh? For one thing Williams comments were more tame than President Obama made of his late grandmother: (more…)

Media Matters is taking the Tea Party Convention to task regarding its limited credentialing for press access.

Tea Party convention hosts Palin and bans the press. Except Palin employer Fox News

Media message from the right wing: If you don’t give the Tea Party “fair coverage,” then you will be banned from covering its convention.

And who says the conservative movement doesn’t hold journalism in contempt?

So….when a quasi political convention held by a private group selectively excludes dissenting media, that’s contempt. But when the White House selectively excludes dissenting media, singling them out for vilification, that’s just fine with Media Matters.

For the record, I would like to see lamestream media outlets there. More often than not, when they cover the Tea Parties, they embarrass themselves in a way that simultaneously exposes their bias, while energizing and growing the base.
