In an article published Tuesday entitled “Casey Anthony: The Candidates Respond,”  Salon Magazine smeared Sarah Palin and several Republican presidential candidates with faked quotes reacting to the verdict in the Casey Anthony trial. The faked quotes, especially those falsely attributed to Michele Bachmann and Palin, made their way around the Internet this week, adding to the media-driven campaign of hatred against leading Republican women.

Palin was smeared as a separation-of-powers ditz, accusing President Barack Obama of not getting involved in the Anthony case:

“Once again we see, with our nation in crisis, President Obama stands by and does idly nothing while an injustice is committed here in this glorious nation of ours … Why the strange silence, Mr. President?”

Bachmann was smeared as a racist and anti-Muslim kook in a faked Sean Hannity interview:

“… people all over the place are asking me, why, in Barack Obama’s America, someone who murders a baby who happens to be white doesn’t get punished…they’re worried about the Muslim Brotherhood, which has clear ties to terror groups dedicated to creating a worldwide Islamic caliphate, and they’re worried that Eric Holder’s Justice Department isn’t going to do anything about it if the Brotherhood or another group comes for their children.”

Alex Pareene, who is described at the end of the article as “Alex Pareene writes about politics for Salon,” made up the quotes in apparent frustration that Republican candidates had not waded into the Anthony murder trial controversy. The new media standard now seems to be if a Republican won’t say something outrageously foolish, the media will make up the quotes they want and destroy the candidate anyway.

The article is so poorly-written (and without further clarification) that the author’s attempt at satire is lost upon the reader. The quotes are presented as sourced quotes and transcripts.

Righteous Indignation: Excuse Me While I Save the World!

Andrew Breitbart sits down with FOX News’ Sean Hannity on April 18, 2011 to discuss his new book, “Righteous Indignation: Excuse Me While I Save the World,” released April 15, 2011.  It wasn’t all just book conversation though…you’ll have to watch it and see!

The fact that Roger Ailes is a powerful force in media comes as no surprise to anyone, but what might shock you is just how powerful he is. Not only does he head up the Fox News Channel, he also programs a second news network and directs the content of several non-profit organizations. Well, not exactly, or at least directly. See, without the programming on Fox News at least half of MSNBC’s primetime lineup wouldn’t have any content, and basement bloggers at Media Matters might spend less time transcribing the thoughts of others and venture outside every once in a while. But Fox News does exist, so those “fellows” at Media Matters will still have to get their vitamin D through supplements and MSNBC will have content.

Do you watch MSNBC? If you’re like most Americans, the answer is no. You may have come across it while flipping around, and if you flipped fast enough you may have thought your television provider put Fox News on two channels. Considering the ratings, that would almost make sense. Fox routinely more than doubles the ratings of MSNBC, and there’s good reason for that.

MSNBC spends the majority of its time defending Democrats, but when not justifying left-wing actions, their hosts (I don’t call them anchors because that implies a news component to their actions) are running clips of Fox News shows. Why would any network devote such a significant portion of their precious air time to showing and commenting on the content of their main ratings competitor? That’s a good question and one that, at least from journalistic and business perspectives, makes no sense. But once you realize MSNBC has no interest in either of those perspectives, nor do they seem to care about broadening their audience, you’re left with one plausible alternative – it’s the agenda, stupid.

But MSNBC didn’t just come up with this Fox obsessed programming out of thin air, there’s been a movement on the American Left to silence Fox News and anyone who may watch it for years now.

The “non-partisan think tank” known as Media Matters for America was founded in 2004 for the purpose of “correcting conservative misinformation in the U.S. media.” Yes, you read that correctly, the media, in their delusional mind, has a conservative bent and they’ve taken it upon themselves to “correct” it. It’s a bit like forming the Society to Ensure the Sun Rises in the East – pretend a problem exists, set about to solve it and claim victory when what was going to happen anyway happens.

Founded by David Brock, a former “journalist” who was once a conservative, but somehow, one day, switch every single one of his views 180 degrees to become a devoted leftists, Media Matters, to boil it down to what it really is, employs people to stalk blogs and watch TV or listen to radio they hate all day, transcribe it, take quotes out of context, spin them and send them out to nearly every media outlet in the country. You’d think something so blatantly boring, not to mention pathetic, would be laughed at for the joke it is, and for the most part it is, but when MSNBC was looking for a niche for itself to try and attract an audience, the Media Matters parasite found its host.

Over a week after the election, ABC news continues to catch flack for their decision to capitulate to the organized left and silence Andrew Breitbart. Today, Breitbart spoke with Sean Hannity on his radio program and rehashed the step-by-step process, from ABC’s gracious initial proposition to the network’s cowardly and dishonest decision to revoke Breitbart’s invitation to be a part of their election night broadcast.

BREITBART: …That is a fundamental difference between the left and the right: people on the right want to hear more voices, they don’t care if people disagree with them; people on the left and George Soros and Media Matters and Arianna Huffington want to shut people up.

It’s amazing to me that liberals can’t assume responsibility without pointing at Fox as though Fox has anything to do with Olbermann’s insubordination. Howard Kurtz this weekend:

“Well if you look at Fox News you have some of the most prominent contributors on that network, Karl Rove raised almost 40 – 5o million dollars for an independent group that aided Republicans in this 2010 midterm cycle, dick morris raised money spoke on behalf of Republicans, and even Sean Hannity who is a host obviously of a nighttime show on Fox he has spoken at Republican fundraisers. All those infractions in my view … are worse than what Olbermann did … if you’re going to criticize that sort of thing … you can’t run around and do that same thing yourself.”

And if they had been at MSNBC they would have been violating policy, the policy which dictates that you can be as slanted to the left as you want in your broadcasted content and pretend that it’s objective – and you can pretend impartiality because there exists a policy that prevents identification of such by prohibiting campaign contributions.

Having done video coverage of almost 50 Tea Parties in over 45 cities in 25 states, it’s safe to say I know the Tea Party well. And as a 23-year-old coming from a generation primarily influenced by mainstream media, I believe the mainstream media’s lampooning and stigmatizing of our movement, while nefarious yet somewhat successful, has not been achieved entirely without some cooperation on our part. I believe in our movement, and believe we will win in November, but if we lose, here are five reasons why.

tri

First: Let’s not overdo it with the 18th century costumes. While festive and somewhat thematically appropriate, it doesn’t speak to my generation, and often begs the mainstream media to caricaturize us as Halloween-padded fringe throwbacks. We can all agree on restoring the constitutional vision of our founding fathers, but restoring their fashion sensibilities? You will have to call me a progressive on that one.

Second: A convenient Tea Party mantra has been the presumptuous, and seemingly amnesiac notion that President Obama “betrayed the American people,” that “We the People have spoken and never wanted Obama’s policies.”

Obama made his agenda clear during his campaign: He promised to socialize health care, to push for cap and trade, to implement tax policies that would “spread the wealth around,” he equated redistribution of wealth with “neighborliness,” supported the 2008 Wall Street bailouts, demonstrated his faith in Keynesian economics, his class warfare mentality, his distrust for the free market… (more…)

The most odious member of Congress, the soon-to-be-former-Rep. Alan Grayson of Florida, is justly celebrated for his vicious partisanship, intellectual dishonesty and a thin skin that makes Barack Obama looks like a Patton tank.

It is only right and just to let the Majarushi have the last word on today’s Topic A — last night’s Delaware primary between Christine O’Donnell and Mike Castle, and the emerging schism between the Washington establishment and the heartland conservatives, a split that is pitting Rove, Dana Perino, and a sizable chunk of the conservative blogosphere against the major talk-radio hosts (Limbaugh, Hannity, Mark Levin) and the rest of the right-wing blogosphere:

Over to you. (more…)

During Delaware’s primary last night Karl Rove was one of the analysts who sat with Sean Hannity on Fox News hashing out the results of the polls in several states. During his comments on Delaware’s winning candidate Christine O’Donnell, Rove eviscerated her as a loser even though she had just won the primary.

Rove claimed that O’Donnell is “nutty” and came straight out saying that O’Donnell cannot win the election in November.

Now, Rove is certainly entitled to his opinion and if he truly believes that O’Donnell cannot win in the general, then he should feel free to say so and we should accept it as such. But in this case we have a problem believing that Rove’s analysis is simply his honest opinion when we find out from The Freedomist that Rove was trying to cut a pre-primary deal to help Mike Castle to win the primary. Now that Christine O’Donnell and other insurgents have won their respective primaries with upset victories in Delaware and elsewhere, it’s absolutely fascinating to watch the dinosaur media’s antics as they drink from the same vat of Kool-Aid and form what’s almost an identical narrative:

“Hooray! The GOP just lost its chances to take the Senate.”

“This proves that moderates have no home in the GOP.”

“Even real Republicans ( whom we normally despise) are joining in characterizing this as an extreme movement.”

Even more interesting was the response of the GOP establishment and the way it played in the media. Karl Rove, for instance didn’t even bother congratulating O’Donnell but spent most of his time last night on Hannity bashing her and repeating Mike Castle’s talking points about her “character” and “attitude” claiming she had ignored the questions about her financial problems…when in fact, she did. Expect the usual suspects to highlight Rove’s remarks no end today.

John Cornyn, head of the Republican National Senatorial Committee was even quoted as trashing O’Donnell’s chances to win and as saying that he and the rest of the committee are going to “have a little pow-wow” over whether to commit any money to the Delaware race.

What we’re seeing here, of course, is the reaction of the Old Guard – both the GOP and the media  -  to a revolution in the making. And they don’t like it. (more…)

Tomorrow, July 1st, I have the honor of co-hosting Move America Forward’s 3rd Annual Troopathon to raise money for care packages for our troops.   The eight-hour broadcast, which will air live across the World Wide Web,  will stream here at Big Hollywood, Big Government, Big Journalism, and Breitbart.TV from 4 p.m. to midnight, EDT.  Please join us to show your support for our brave men and women fighting in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere for our safety and for the freedom of people around the world. Here are the details from MAF:

The concept behind Troopathon is not a new idea, put on a Jerry Lewis style telethon to benefit a worthy cause, but a Troopathon is groundbreaking and innovative in that we bring together famous celebrities from radio, television, movie stars, musicians, journalists, and more to create a one-of-a-kind event with one purpose – to support our troops on the front lines in the war on terror and honor their service and sacrifice for our nation. Is Sarah Palin the leader of the Tea Party Movement? This is asked as a “gotcha” question by the liberal mainstream media of every spokesperson of the Tea Party Movement. The liberal mainstream media is so far out of touch with the majority of Americans, their rationale is, if they can get tea partiers to say a “wacko” like Palin is their leader, it will confirm that the movement is nothing more than a bunch of extremist fringe loonies.

In their arrogant, elitist, coastal, PETA membership, New York Times reading and “smarter than us common Americans” minds, the liberal mainstream media can not grasp the concept that Sarah Palin is the voice of most Americans. Thus, Tea Party patriot’s great love and admiration for her. Palin is the conservative voice America has been waiting for.

It’s a voice that the leftist media both loathes and fears, because it challenges their every assumption about what is right and good about America.

Palin boldly speaks out against political correctness and stands up for conservative principles and values. Not since Ronald Reagan has a politician so unapologetically championed conservatism. With all due respect to her femininity and beauty, Sarah Palin is the, long awaited, John Wayne of the Conservative movement. If only more of our “walk on eggs, careful not to offend and pandering to political correctness” male conservative politicians would take a cue from this extraordinary woman… (more…)

The shameless media manipulators at the DNC have a new campaign designed to promote Elena Kagan for the Supreme Court. As with previous campaigns, the “Kagan for Justice Action Center” is run via a special website set up by Organizing for America. It encourages people to write letters to the editors of newspapers nationwide (And we can presume that, as before, local newspapers will publish DNC talking points without realizing it).

What’s new is that the DNC is now branching out to Astroturf talk radio as well. Here’s how the page looks on their website:

Hannity

As you can see, the first person that came up when I visited was Sean Hannity. However there are more than two dozen shows that you can call by clicking the “Find another show” button. The list includes nearly all of the right’s top talkers: Glenn Beck, Mark Levin, Michael Medved, Michael Savage and Hugh Hewitt. Notably absent: Rush Limbaugh. (more…)

Pamela Geller

*** Updated: Pamela Geller will be speaking at our event.. We are very happy and pleased that she will be attending! The TNTPC believes (CAIR) to be a hate group. We will not follow any request from them. Anthony Shreeve, convention organizer

I am one of the featured speakers at the Inaugural statewide Tea Party Convention in Tennessee’s beautiful Smoky Mountains this weekend. But look at this: the unindicted co-conspirator, terror-tied Muslim Brotherhood front group, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) is trying to get the good, decent Americans of the Tennessee Tea Party to crush free speech by dropping me from the Tea Party convention this weekend.

Why is CAIR starting this campaign now? This is all about the mosque that Muslims are planning to build near Ground Zero. I spoke the truth about this supremacist initiative on the Sean Hannity radio show last week, in a debate with Islamic apologist Michael Ghouse. Who won the debate? Well, you be the judge:

The next day I was scheduled to be on the Mike Huckabee Show on Fox News along with a representative from the mosque, but at the last minute they decided not to send anyone. They sent Huckabee a written statement, which he read to me on the air. And now CAIR sends around this press release full of lies and distortions, trying to intimidate the Tennessee Tea Partiers into canceling me. The CAIR press release starts this way:

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) today called on the organizers of the inaugural Tennessee Tea Party Convention to be held this weekend in Gatlinburg to drop an anti-Islam speaker who claims that ‘Hitler and the Nazis were inspired by Islam’ and that Islam ‘mandates’ lies and deception.

Sounds terrible, right? Except for one thing: it’s true. (more…)

In news that’s sure to make liberals’ heads explode, Fox News has now sat atop the cable-news ratings for one hundred consecutive months. From Fishbowl DC:

The gang at FNC has to be pleased. The network rolls in at #1 for 100 consecutive months in total viewership, according to Nielsen Media Research. This includes Primetime and Total Day news programming.

FNC also secured nine out of the top 10 programs in cable news for April in total viewers. Here’s the pecking order of the top five:

  1. Bill O’Reilly
  2. Glenn Beck
  3. Sean Hannity
  4. Bret Baier

The Politically Correct Boycott Corp is on the march again!  If the show doesn’t fit within your political agenda, then just boycott it and try to “shut up dissent.”  According to the Washington Post, around two hundred companies are now boycotting Glenn Beck.

When a journalist who gets great ratings is being attacked for doing what he does (as in the case of Glenn Beck) by those who scream about Freedom of Speech and high journalism, it’s like they have an “I’m with Stupid” tattoo punched into their foreheads.  Aren’t progressives the same people who think it is okay to decry every alleged “impropriety” by conservatives while hiding behind the guise of “free speech” for themselves? Is it somehow less appropriate for Glenn Beck to espouse his opinions?  Why?  Because he might be onto something, and his ratings are high?

Newsflash!  Beck is but a reflection of an entire mass of people who believe what he has the platform to say!  They aren’t going away. In fact, they are growing in spades!

Fox News executives know that if they let advertisers bully them into booting Beck, he will get another job, and advertisers will next be pressured to abandon O’Reilly or Hannity to try to censor them. Why would they make such a self-defeating, bad business decision? (more…)

I felt I had to write this as I have taken part in nearly every Freedom Concert Tour since Sean Hannity and Col. Oliver North have been promoting them over the last few years.

Kings Island Freedom Concert 0734

First of all my late father was promoter of disco bands back in the 1970’s, so I do have a bit of insight into events and the behind scene cost of putting on events that the general public will never know.

While Hannity and North have publicly stated that most of the artists involved in the Freedom Concert Tour donate their time to the effort in supporting the mission of the Freedom Alliance, the small things like air-conditioned buses, catered food and bottle water don’t exactly come for free, along with transport of the bands equipment, band and their family members, security, crowd and traffic control. Simply put, I guess there are a few people out there who believe Charlie Daniels, Governor Perry or Larry “The Cable Guy” are suppose to stand in the hot sun eating ham sandwiches and drinking from juice boxes until they are ready to go on stage. Then there of course is the cost for getting a venue for the 1,000s of supporters who come to these concerts along with their families and invited guests, the pre- and post-show clean up, workers involved such as ticket issuers, ushers and others.
