As we continue with America’s most left-biased, working journalist list, we feature a woman that takes herself quite seriously and un-ironically as a non-opinion-styled journalist. CNN’s Christiane Amanpour really does think that no one can tell that she is a true-blue left-winger. Sadly, there is that all too human penchant of fooling oneself as much as one tries to fool others with this one. But that doesn’t stop her from making the claim.
In 2008, for instance, Amanpour said of herself:
I stay away from commentary and I stay away from ideology. All this stuff that we have seen marching into the space of fact-based news over the last several years, the highly opinionated, highly ideological [demagoguery] that exists and masquerades as journalism. I draw a line and I stay in the fact-based reality.

Nice story, that. Reality, though, seems to diverge a bit from Amanopour’s self-serving assessment. Let’s take Amanpour’s recent altercation with Marc Thiessen, for example. During a recent appearance on her show, the former Bush speech writer took Amanpour to task for saying that the waterboarding tortures perpetrated by Cambodia’s genocidal communist organization Khmer Rouge was exactly the same sort used by the Bush administration on terror suspects.
Here is how Amanpour characterized the waterboarding practices during her filmed visit to the Khmer Rouge torture camps:
I stared blankly at another of Vann Nath’s paintings. This time, a prisoner is submerged in a life-size box of water, handcuffed to the side so he cannot escape or raise his head to breathe, his interrogators arrayed him, demanding information. I asked Vann Nath whether he had heard this was once used on America’s terror suspects. He nodded his head, ‘It’s not right.
As Thiessen points out, this is a blatant untruth. The U.S. never used this sort of actual torture on terror suspects. The waterboarding used by U.S. authorities does not resemble the evil work of the Khmer Rouge in any way. But as far as this “unbiased” reporter is concerned, the U.S. is no different than the murderous Khmer Rouge. But Amanpour was quite happy to spread the disinformation about America’s efforts in the war against terror, anyway. It was in her special “un-biased” way, of course.
Amanpour is also yet another Old Media apologist for the Obammessiah. Last December when everyone was making fun of The One for being awarded a Nobel Peace Prize quite despite his complete lack of works to qualify for such an award, Amanpour rushed to the fore to criticize those attacking Obama over the award.
Amanpour was incensed that people were scoffing at Obama’s undeserved prize. “You know what? Can I just say, I think it’s overdone, this pushing back against his award,” the CNN host said:
He’s obviously done something very significant, and that is, after eight years in which the United States was really held in contempt around the world, the United States has now had a new relationship with the rest of the world. This is what the Nobel Committee has rewarded and has accepted. This is what the polls around the world are showing.
What “significant” work Obama had done to win a peace prize was never really delineated by the CNN host. Maybe she felt that just winning election was enough? If so, she reveals a complete lack of understanding about what a peace prize should be awarded for. Maybe something like fostering peace?
But the worst bias that the Iranian-born Amanpour exhibits is her penchant to come to the aid of Muslims, to denigrate Israel, and to equate Christianity as equal to Islam in perpetrating evil.
In 2008, for instance, Amanpour claimed that the China/Tibet situation was exactly the same as that of Israel and the Palestinians. No one with even a cursory understanding of the two situations could agree with her, however.
Tibet was always a separate, sovereign nation that China moved to conquer in order to eliminate the Tibetan culture. On the other hand there never was any such nation as “Palestine” when Israel was formed by a 1948 United Nations decree. And the Israel/Palestinian situation was only created after Israel was attacked by an alliance of Arab nations in the 1967 Six Day War not by overt Israeli actions.
Even as far back as 2007, Amanpour was seen doing her best to conflate what she felt was the evils of Christianity to the actual evils of Islam presenting them as if they were the same.
During CNN’s special “God’s Warriors,” Amanpour says, “As I report around the world, people often ask me about the rise of religious influence on political power within the United States, but in fact this is true worldwide.” Here Amanpour conflates the way Christians interact with their governments world-wide to the way Muslims do in theirs. It’s as if Amanpour thinks there is no difference between jihadi governments infused with Muslim Sharia laws and western Christians participating in their democratic institutions.
Still, after years of slighting Israel, western Christianity, the U.S. government, and anything else that stands in her ideological way, Amanpour insists that no one knows her political biases. In a 2009 interview with Lesley Stahl, Amanpour said, “I ask people just to look at my body of work. And nobody knows my biases. Do they think I’m against? Do they think I’m for? They don’t know my biases.”
Well, we are looking and from what we can see her biases are far from hidden. But we aren’t the only ones. In March, TV critic Tom Shales worried that Amanpour’s often complained about anti-Israeli bias made her a bad candidate for ABC’s This Week Sunday TV show.
In summation, one wonders just how extreme Christiane Amanpour could get? She nearly wears her bias on her sleeve as it is. One shudders to think what would happen if this “non-ideological” journalist would decide to let her hair down and really let her bias-flag fly?
Please check back tomorrow for journalist number seven, won’t you?

The Left continuously re-defines "journalism."
Christiane Amanpour unbiased? …now that’s a hoot.
she is right about something. the u.s. is based on christian principles, equality, freedom to choose, peace with others, finding the truth, and islam is based on their principles, killing all who remotely disagree, beating women, stuck in the 6th century. where she messes up is telling everyone that there is no differences( but somehow she DOES NOT FEEL THE NEED TO WEAR A BURKA!)
“I ask people just to look at my body of work. And nobody knows my biases. Do they think I’m against? Do they think I’m for? They don’t know my biases.”
Clearly, this woman is asking the wrong people if they can recognize her biases because they themselves share her biases.
“I ask people just to look at my body of work. And nobody knows my biases. Do they think I’m against? Do they think I’m for? They don’t know my biases.”
We don't know? Hun, we not only know your biases, but we watch them trailing out of you every day.
I had this shrews number way back in the first days following the Iraqi surrender in the second Iraq war.
Most western journalists stayed at a hotel in Baghdad called the Palestine Hotel (working from memory here, quite some time ago). They generally got an entire floor. A group of terrorists got into the hotel and took over a room on the floor right above them. How's that for logistics? Guaranteed publicity from sympathetic, biased reporters.
The terrorists started sniping American soldiers. They called in a tank, and it blew up the room with one shell. Problem solved.
And this bitch was outraged, how dare the US put "journalists" in danger, how dare they fire with them in the area. (No doubt thinking 'how dare they fire, I might have been up there, don't you realize who I am?!?')
Then she tipped her hand. 'Never mind the proportionality of the response.' She's pissed because the US ended the threat to her and every other journalist with a tank in 20 minutes rather than send up an equal number of US soldiers to fight it out on fairer terms?
This tool wasn't even bright enough to realize the Army just did her a great big favor. They let the terrorists know, hiding behind reporters is not an option for them, which means their use as human shields was about nil.
Echo this. Some of us were ringing the bell back then. And it took two decades to sink in. Any wonder why the USA may be doomed.
I'm still lacking faith in the November elections. Get your lifeboats tuned up.
I vote that Tapper stay on as This Week's host.
The way I look at this is Marx vs. the Founding Fathers.
My money is on the Founding Fathers. They have a much, much better track record.
look at my body
Started blowing chunks at that point.
When you type " Christiane Amanpour bias" into Google search you get 25,300 hits, what's that tell you? She was a lightweight poseur years ago when she reported from the Gulf War. I had forgotten about her.
Amanpour is married to live long Democrat operative and Clinonista hack, Jamie Rubin. Enough said.
For many years Amanpour has demeaned
Anyone who is not in love with her liberal, Anti-American dream
Take everything she says with a salt lick on the side
She will contort the facts, confuse you, and take you for a ride
But her stories and nonfactual hype and unravel at the seam
Thanks for putting this muslim trustafarian on the list.
Who knows how many Israeli citizens and American troops suffered because of this sorry excuse for a human. She knows she provided information to the enemy and I for one hope she burns in hell for it.
An honorary member of Hamas with bias? You betcha!
There are some "journalists" that I and many others, never tune into any longer, simply due to their biased "reporting" and their overt sense of self importance. Amanpour is such a person.
When she was embedded with the mooseslums who were launching rockets into Israel, she went orgasmic on camera when the rockets hit Israelis. She and Satan make a wonderful couple. And she owes it all to CNN, the Devil's favorite noose nitwork. "Nobody lies like we do" is their motto.
This isn't about Amanpour, but it is funny. I guess it kind of fits in with the "poor muslims" theme.
Last night on O Reilly's Miller Time segment,on the topic of NASA's muslim outreach, Miller said "I have a friend who is a realtor in that area of the world (the middle east); he works at a company called Century 4. Come on Billy, they gotta get up to speed before you start talking about space. You know what will happen eventually? They'll blow up space; there, Billy."
Much laughter could be heard behind the cameral even O Reilly smiled a bit.
When Bill continued on with his 'fair and balanced' riff, saying that muslims were going to remake a science fiction movie (or something like that), Miller replied, "you're right, Billy, they're geniuses. Thats why they bury women up to their necks and throw bricks at them. They're geniuses."
lol
I'm just surprised this woman isn't on MSNBC. All of her soulmates are there. Well, the falafels are probably better at CNN. After all, you are what you eat!
BITCH!!!
Damn, sorry, I thought only Katie Couric did that to me. Guess not.
Is this women Helen Thomas's daughter?
She's ugly too.
A-Man-Pour, needs a Burka…why are the Leftist so Ugly?
An insult to Helen Thomas, I say!
At least she was kind enough to shave off her stache before the photo op.
Yeah there is little doubt her sympathies are with Islam and not the West.
Considering Walter Cronkite once said that in his opinion, being a liberal was necessary in order to be a good reporter, I suspect Amanpour, laughable as it is, actually considers herself to be an objective journalist–a term which is more and more of an oxymoron every day.
A distinct possibility.
But I think she may have started out as Thomas's son, if ya know what I mean…
I tell you all, Christiane Amanpour IS UNBIASED!!!!
Of course, in Persian (or Farsi, or whatever the hell it is they speak in carpet land), "unbiased" means a woman who has left the Holy Land and now spends her time using skin whiteners and oxygen tents to take on a pale, pasty look she mistakenly assumes she needs to be more "presentable" to the Infidels.
She's just proof that "vapid" is not just an affliction amongst dumb-ass Americans. It also infects middle easterners.
There is not now, and never has been, any such thing as an "objective journalist". Every reporter, without exception, has biases. There was a time when reporters, and the media they worked for – newspapers and radio, mostly – openly acknowledged their bias. It didn't hurt that most markets had multiple media outlets, so the public could "compare and contrast" the reporting and form their own opinions.
The problems begin when reporters try to hide or deny their bias, even when the bias is blatantly in-your-face, and when the entire industry, in the main, shares a similar bias.
This is one of the strengths of the Internet in general, and sites like the Bigs in particular. No longer are people dependent on the so-called "mainstream media" for their news. No longer is news and information only available through the big media filters; there are literally thousands of "new media" outlets – blogs, discussion lists, streaming video and audio sites, People can choose their news provider, or even go to primary sources for information.
Full disclosure: It has been years since I have read a newspaper or watched television news. I don't even have cable TV, just a high-speed Internet connection.
I remember this now you mention it. It wasn't just her, but the entire herd of MSMers were mooing for days.
I don't mind so much if reporters try to present "unbiased" news. To do so, however, they need to do two things: 1. Admit, if only to themselves, that they do have very real personal biases, and 2. Make an active effort to neutralize those biases while reporting.
Other than that, I agree with pretty much all your points.
I will never forget the moment our troops were being begged by the Iraqis to pull down the statue of Saddam. When the tanker captain wrapped a chain around the neck of the monument, C. Amanpour yelled that would only incite the populous. She was pissed. How did a woman get the phony accent and a first name of Christiane when she is a Moslem? She is a fake. Her husband is a Jew. CNN, look for a ratings collapse. Jake Tapper would have been your sure bet. Suck it, C.A.
I forgot. Why is she wearing a man's watch? She has man hands. Is she too stingy to do an eyebrow pluck? Geeez.
C. Amanpour is a stealth jihadist. A Fifth Columnist. She disseminates her bias through a big pulpit (CNN) unchecked, because the leftist MSM doeasn't care enough to rain in the Bitch. They applaud her.
She is Queen of the Hacks. What a great idea ABC, hire an obvious anti-American foreigner to host your Sunday show. Gee, I wonder why the network news' ratings continue to plummet? Gee, I wonder why Obama isn't popular? Same question, same answer.
You can once and for all break up the big media empire that allows these types to gain power by setting up an eCongress to relocate US Congress back to our districts to securely telecommute for no less than 75% of their terms to increase voter access and reduce lobbyist influence.
How? The big 5 media are powerful because of their DC bureaus and under an eCongress it will be the local affiliates with the direct access to Congressmen reversing roles with the Networks forced to be supplicants of their affiliates. If you actually want to stop these guys, this is the way to go and best of all it's completely Constitutional so it doesn't have the legislative barriers that reforms like the FAIR Tax do. http://econgressnow.com
Only if Helen Thomas got it on with Yassar Arafat or Amin al Husseini.
I remember this story. Personally, I always thought that shell landed a bit too high!
Christiane Amanpour is just an America and Israel hating anti-Semite. I honestly stopped watching CNN right after the first Gulf War and have not watched it since and will not till they get some honest journalist.
My definition of reporting is very simple: Show up, see something, then tell us what you SAW. Not what you THINK you saw, not what you THINK it means, not how you THINK It will help/hurt Obama, but what actually HAPPENED.
There is almost none of that anymore outside talk radio and blogs, who openly admit their opinion and biases, unlike CNN and virtually every other outlet.
I was trying to avoid mentioning that she looks like a guy with a wig on, but your comment gave me mental images I'll never be able to unsee.
Oh yeah, they were all full of righteous indignation. This wench was just the one I happen to catch on the news. Despicable.
There was some tool over at NPR that I would have a serious problem if I met him in an ally. I would be so tempted to knee cap the bastard.
After the Baghdad museum was looted (by it's own employees it turned out) he got on his soap box and wailed and gnashed his teeth about how horrible Bush and America were for not guarding the museum and the resulting loss of all that history.
So the Army put a soldier on patrol and a few days later he was dead from a sniper.
"Journalists" – and I use the term very loosely – should be bitch slapped. People died because of his over blown, hyperactive…..
I'll leave it at that. I don't want to be rude to other readers. So I'll watch my language. Like I said, he better not find himself in a dark ally with me.
Took them off my Tivo list about 2 – 3 years ago. If they ever put real conservatives on the panel (not From, Brooks, etc), I might consider watching….. Oh, and show a little balance…
She's not different from Katie, Brian, or Charlie,
just another leftist. speaking with an accent…
I hear Tapper is a Lib but so far he's been watchable, plus he does tend to have a grasp on things Gregory just doesn't. But then I'm a Sunday Show Junkie. They still seem hell bent on pitting 2.5 leftists against Will (who often holds his own as much as I disagree with him), with the exception of Murdoch appearing once.
Don't really look forward to Amanpour taking the helm. We already have Matthews and Gregory polluting Sundays.
Sigh… I may be reduced to simply watching McLaughlin and his tacky 80's furniture just to ogle Monica Crowley. Sure, I have to put up with the nails-on-the-blackboard voice of Clift but it's totally worth it.
Another leftist journalist so deeply inside the box of her leftist ideology that she does not even understand that the box is there. Pitiful.
amanapour should be way closer to the top of the list. where is anderson cooper, he is way worse then chuck todd
I am sorry to say this, but it is just shameful how un- analytical this piece is. I cannot call you stupid bc I lack enough data to support that conclusion, but this piece certainly supports it.
For anyone that does not know that Christiane Amanpour is one of the most biased journolistos any analysis would be wasted. You would have to have been exposed to some of her so called reporting.
She may be the most biased. The piece above does nothing to make that case beyond the good old 'it's true because I say so' approach. In fact the examples used actually make the case that she is not too biased.
For example the author quotes her saying that she gave no reason for supporting obama's win of the Nobel, see quote below. She did give a reason in plain English and it is in black and white below in her quote. Whether you agree with the fact that our standing in the world has risen under obama as reason for a Nobel or not is one thing. to say that she provided no rational is just wrong.
'He’s obviously done something very significant, and that is, after eight years in which the United States was really held in contempt around the world, the United States has now had a new relationship with the rest of the world. This is what the Nobel Committee has rewarded and has accepted. This is what the polls around the world are showing.'
She is with out doubt and only a moron thinks our status has been raised in the world. We are looked upon as being weak and subserviant with a American version Neville Chamberlian. He did nothing period other than just get elected. Jimmy Carter is thanking God every day for Obama. We are looked upon with contempt because this guy cannot even run the day to day functions of the office. He knows nothing of leadership or of management that is why his poll numbers look like the Titanic. Hell John Cameron will make a movie about him Titled One Termer.
