You really have to hand it to the hacks and non-entities over at Media Matters for America. I mean, they deserve an Olympic gold medal for the gymnastics they display while spinning the news to the extreme left-wing of the political spectrum. This whole Fox News/Shirley Sherrod story is a perfect example.
Eric “Boomarwrong” Boehlert is shamelessly spinning the story of the firing of USDA employee, Shirley Sherrod, as a Fox attack job with all his little Maoist heart. He is desperate to make Sherrod’s firing a result of a Fox News smear campaign and his reply to the posting at Johnny Dollar’s website proving that Fox News Channel didn’t really even take up the story until after Sherrod was fired by the White House is a masterpiece of spin.

Starting with, “So many people, all saying the same thing. The same untrue thing,” Johnny Dollar goes on to show the timeline of how Fox News approached the story. Then J$ posted the words of a Fox exec, to wit: “Michael Clemente, senior vice president of news editorial, said the network’s news programs reported the story with caution.”
After this set up, J$ goes on piece by piece to show that the news channel did not push the story on the air until after the White House pre-emptively and hastily fired Sherrod in the wake of the video Breitbart posted on Monday last week. He then shows all the lefty newsies who made the false claim that Fox News was peddling the Sherrod story before a panicky White House fired her.
But the moonbats at Media Matters have to make this whole thing a Fox conspiracy, despite the truth of the matter. So, “Boomawrong” Boehlert tries to refute J$’s correct assertion that Fox News didn’t push the story. And here is his… cough… evidence:
Question: Has Johnny Dollar ever head of the Internet? Because if he had, he’d know that there’s this whole division within “Fox News” (i.e. FoxNews.com) that publishes news and commentary online. And if he had heard of the Internet, he’d know that “Fox News” peddled the bogus Sherrod story before she resigned.
As our timeline of the Sherrod smear shows, on Monday afternoon, prior to her resignation, FoxNews.com reported on the story without the comment from Sherrod that Clemente indicated was crucial. In fact, while the story indicates that “FoxNews.com is seeking a response from both the NAACP and the USDA,” it gives no indication that they tried to contact Sherrod herself. In a follow-up report published some time before 5 p.m., FoxNews.com reported that USDA had announced Sherrod’s resignation” shortly after FoxNews.com published its initial report on the video.”
That’s it? That’s all Boehlert has? The story appeared in a small story on the Fox website (which doesn’t program Fox News, by the way) before the actual programmers and execs over at the cable side put the story on the air. One story. On the web. That’s it.
In other words, this one wire-like copy story that appeared on Fox.com hours after Breitbart and a slew of other blogs had already posted about the story is somehow a massive smear campaign on the part of Fox News as far as “Boomawrong” Boehlert is concerned. Even after he discovered that the Fox News Channel execs who really decide what goes on TV put the story on hold and approached it cautiously and didn’t begin discussing it until after the White House fired the woman, “Boomawrong” is trying to suggest that this one little posting is a campaign against Sherrod instigated by Fox News.

“Boomawrong” seems to think that the interns that post to the Fox.com website have the power to program the cable division. Here’s a guy that knows nothing about how organizations work… or is purposefully distorting the issue to make a political point. You can guess which is more likely, I’d bet.
The truth is Fox News had precisely nothing to do with this story. They came to it late and did so on purpose. The White House jumped like a startled cat the second this thing hit the blogosphere and acted without any pressure from Fox News Channel. But “Boomawrong” Boehlert and his unprincipled crew at Media Matters simply must make this about Fox News. Mostly because they know they need a villain, and Fox is the Principal Enemy.
Unfortunately, their real enemy is the truth.
UPDATE:
Update: J$ emailed me to point out something he just discovered. Even the FoxNews.com posting that Media Matters points to as “proof” of a great Fox conspiracy was made after the White House fired Sherrod.
If you go the the FoxNews.com piece mentioned by Media Matters you’ll see in the comments that the first comment was made on July 19 at 5:22 p.m. by a commenter named “tv1530.” The White House was already making its decision to fire Sherrod before that time and calls by the administration to Sherrod for her resignation had already been made that afternoon, long before the posting early that evening by FoxNews.com.
Comments appear almost instantly on news articles so the fact that comments didn’t start to get posted until 5:22 PM, this means the story had not been up but minutes before the comments appeared.
Despite the spin foisted on the public by Eric Boehlert and Media Matters for America, there is no way the FoxNews.com posting made in the evening of the 19th had any influence on the Obama Administration’s decision to fire Sherrod.

J$ is the man. And right now, he's living rent free in Media Matters collective heads. Good work, Johnny.
“Boomawrong” has great credentials: journOlist (guess what the "O" represents).
We must understand that FOX and the conservative blogosphere must be defeated, or pricks like Boehlert may have to get real jobs. Soros is no fool, and now that the flim-flam (Journolist, etc.) has been exposed, he will most certainly thin the heard.
The story here is not Sherrod,it's all about trying to discredit Fox,there is a big push to get fox news and sites like this shut down, the left can't have people thinking for themselves and spreading truth to the masses, just think what could or would happen if the majority of americans woke up and started to move on DC,oh,ummmmmm,TO LATE,AMERICANS ARE AWAKE and it's T.E.A. PARTY time.
Ya know whats amusing to me? I know folks who never watched Fox News at all, they kept hearing how bad Fox was, how biased, how they make up stories and such, and after a time they decided they had to check it out. Ya know, witness and affirm the ugliness for themselves.
Know what? They've been watching ever since.
Maybe they were even disappointed, ya know, the way a carnival barker suckers you into the side show with tales of creatures that will shock you, only to get inside and find the half lizard half man is just a guy in green make up with long fingernails and a self inflicted forked tongue.
Only in the case of my friends, they found the reporting a rather refreshing change from the usual lefty talking points.
Keep up the great work Media Matters, Fox should be paying you a commission for all the new viewers you bring.
I hope media matters and other Dems keep pushing this Sherrod bigot to the forefront. I noticed Obama's favorables went down even more this week. The more the Dems keep this woman in the headlines the worse it is for them. Keep it up guys.
Maybe he should have consulted with Howard Dean. That would have given him a lot more street cred and a deer in the headlights look all at the same time! He could have also learned how to work in some UHHH's and AHHH's in there to fill in some time.
And if YOU PEOPLE keep it up, Kweef Olberloon will make you the Worst Person In The World!
I wish he would, it would be one more feather I could proudly put in my hat!
Wouldn't Boehlert have to get a real job even IF the conservative blogosphere were defeated?
You went a little far here, Ed. I recommend you walk this one back a bit.
I'm reminded of something that Arn Anderson once said:
"Blowing out someone else's candle doesn't make yours burn any brighter."
The far-left media complex could stand to learn this.
Oh god, COULD he?
That would be splendid. Almost like when he ripped off "The 'What the Fuck!?' Files" and turned it into his "WTF moment".
End the Marx Steam Media's LIES of "Republicans are racist"…

Ed, There you go assuming they have an inkling about doing the decent thing.
Speaking of Sordid Shirley Sherrod, isn't it odd that she is strangely quiet and absent? Me thinketh that the left knows there are alot more skeletons in her closet, or her woodpile, whichever term you'd like to apply.
Media Mutters and no one listens.
Blowhard spews more Socialist, racist, hypocritical lies and flat out Bullsh!t. What's new here?
Same sh!t, different day.
Something tells me she has a gaggle of google gaffes out in the public domain, its just a matter of time until she trips up and really exposes herself as the hate filled political tool she truly is.
Fox isn't even particularly conservative yet the left wing fruit loops react to it like a vampire getting a head of garlic shoved up his ass.
Isn't media matters one of soros's pets through the Tides foundation? That would be enough. Soros detests Fox News.
Poor old Boomawrong, he's just jealous of a broken clock because they are right twice a day.
Missy,
You know I haven't commented much in the past week. I haven't had the luxury of time. I have followed this closely though by radio from my tractor seat. It is all bullshit.
I have never questioned Breitbarts patriotism or motives, but this time, the delivery went over like a fart in church. Bottom line, Breitbart was, and IS right. Further, at the end of the day, Sordid Shirley Sherrod is nothing but a professional litigant, a political hack, and a goddamned black bitch of a racist.
Period.
Let the left paint her whichever shade they wish, they will never cover up her spots, and a leopard does not change its spots. Is my language harsh here? Yep. Will I apologize for it? Nope. Will I be branded a racist? You bet.
For those that do. let them kiss my ass.
I'm no longer in the mood for nonsense.
It is almost time for someone to start reaching out and touching some of these wack jobs. From 700 yards.
J$ is made of win.
He's screwed either way it seems.
He meant shave their head and be the racists they really are.
The problem the left has with embracing Shirley Sherrod and her husband is simple actually…
Breitbart was right about everything.
Dear Friends,
I guess the trolls who come here for some real news are taking their time to collect their thoughts before commenting on this article. I would personally like to welcome EdSki over to the light. Welcome to the fight, buddy. Don't wish libs and their trollops harm. Love them like the lost children they are. Love will be our resistance!
Free the Achievers! End Classism!
By the way – FOXNews is much more balanced on the news programs than any other TV network. Too bad the other networks refuse to report straight news without some sort of twist…
It's obvious he has no idea how organizations work and therefore he can actually make his political point without sounding like a flailing retard to himself, which he is to the rest of us.
File under "Can't Make This Stuff Up"
From http://www.nypost.com/p/pagesix/sorry_barney_no_d...
Massachusetts Congressman Barney Frank caused a scene when he demanded a $1 senior discount on his ferry fare to Fire Island's popular gay haunt, The Pines, last Friday. Frank was turned down by ticket clerks at the dock in Sayville because he didn't have the required Suffolk County Senior Citizens ID. A witness reports, "Frank made such a drama over the senior rate that I contemplated offering him the dollar to cool down the situation." Frank made news last year when he was spotted looking uncomfortable around a bevy of topless, well-built men at the Pines Annual Ascension Beach Party. Frank's spokesperson confirmed to Page Six that his partner, James Ready, asked the ticket office for a regular ticket for himself and a senior ticket for Frank, "but was turned down because Frank didn't have a resident ID."
Wow man, my head is spinning!
Is Bœhlert to blame?
It is Bœhlert's karma
that permits no better
than Media Matters merde.
Has Breitbart ever said how/who provided him the tape-who actually edited it and for what reason. Did NAACP edit it to psych up its block of racist members? Breitbart should have had a second source on the story, so he does get a journalism demerit. I wonder what Drudge new of it and when it ran it.
Fox news proved they showed caution, while the NAACP, the White House, and the Dept Of Ag all acted stupidly.
It's a line from the old All In The Family show. Meat head says he hates shaving, so every day he looks in the mirror and says should he shave or just end it. Archie replies 'it's a shame you always lose that argument.'
I know you're not a racist and so do the vast majority of the posters here and that is what matters.
You are just as frustrated and angry as I am about this bullshit and I get called a hater and a bigot almost every day now because I love my country.
ME?
RACIST?
BIGOT?
FRIGGIN' HILARIOUS!
The left is spinning into a feeding frenzy over this Sherrod thing because the Chairman needs to incite somebody to violence and it doesn't matter them who does it first or why.
All he is concerned with is lighting the stick of dynamite to achieve his radical ends.
Even if his supporters were the one's to do it and die in the process it provides him with the cover of chaos he needs to achieve total power and sweep the constitution away forever.
They want to start a war and this race baiting and manipulation is their primary tool.
You know my story, so when somebody calls me a racist I laugh in their face and tell them who I am and it drives them so insane they never address that reality.
Anger is good but we need to make good use of it and realize where we are on the "Movement Action Plan", we are in a "doubt" phase and this is by design of the left.
They want us to give in and fulfill their evil wishes and become violent.
We cannot allow anyone to do that, no matter who they are.
Basically it was a metaphor. When you shave in the morning, you have to look at yourself in the mirror.
How can people who do crap like this even stand to look at themselves is beyond me.
The louder media mutters gets the more foolish they look. I guess even the trolls can't spin this one positively.
It's about time these commie turds woke up and realized the awesomeness and superhero powers of FoxNews.
One would think that that alone would bring them over to our side.
It's taken 14 years, but they're finally starting to get it.
First it was Robert Reich, hirsute midget Clintonista, who somehow discovered FoxNews's diabolical ability to actually go back years in time to alter events that happened before there even was a FoxNews! http://newsbusters.org/blogs/tom-blumer/2010/01/2...
And now this.
Yes, people; again, FoxNews has reversed the space-time continuum, and caused the White House to beclown themselves by firing a woman for comments which were played on FoxNews before they were ever played on FoxNews!
Wow!
Both of these examples are of course small potatoes – minor mischief compared with what FoxNews is really capable of. I happen to have an inside line on plans FNC has for November, when they will apply their superhero powers to setting the entire congress back 4 years!
Fox is a big donor. It's their way of saying thanks for all the marketing and advertising!
This 12-year-old Stalinist is a Senior Fellow who appears regularly on CNN, home of Jeff Toobin. There is no way he could be wrong. No way, I tell ya.
I think they jumped on that bus way too soon and now they are like a bad remake of the movie "Speed" – none of them can get off because the bus will run them over or blow apart and kill them all.
Agreed, walked back.
Allow me to expand. There are multiple levels to modern liberalism over on the other side. Actually many of them are very decent, nice, polite, hard working people, who just don't really pay that much attention to politics. They vote democrat because that's what they've always done, its what every one they know do, it's just the way it is.
Those people deserve two things, respect and an education.
But at the very top of the pile is a group people I find so repulsive, they make me want to vomit. And this guy is in that group. People in that cabal know what they're preaching is pure BS. They don't care how many people they hurt, how badly they make things for the poor, how many lives they destroy in the process. For people like this wretch its all about power and money.
John Kerry who's spent a life time demanding higher taxes to make sure the rich pay their fair share has been caught docking his new luxury yacht in RI to avoid MASS taxes. Charlie Rangels appears to be going down in flames at the moment.
While not a politician, this tool is of the exact same mind set. He's exactly the type of straw man the left routinely paints those on the right as being. They do exist, but they're on the left.
Archie Bunker was a treasure in terms of satire alone. But there really isn't any need to give the far left any more ammo.
It would be a honor. Along with 96% of people who make the WPITW list.
And by the by, check out J$'s other site Olbermannwatch.com, and you can check out my (almost) nightly and (sometimes) factual Worst Person abstract. I watch World's worst so you don't have too.
With you all the way.
Setting the whole congress back 4 years eh? No bad thing in my book. But I'll admit I'd rather see it set back close to 200 years instead. It would be far less of a pain in the arse.
Why do people bother to post things which are easily disprovable?
Media Matters actually points to the article HERE: http://www.thefoxnation.com/culture/2010/07/19/ca...
Amazingoly
In this day and age, we cannot permit this type of racial one-sided decision making to continue. This lady needs to step down or get canned.

This is an obvious case of an attempt by the administration to keep the news cycle clear for coverage of the Financial Reform Bill signing. Didn't seem to work out so well. I can't think of anyone other than Shirley and the family she helped save their farm who comes out of this looking good. Why so many seem gleeful in their exploitation of this travesty of a story is beyond me. Now if you'll excuse me, it's time to put on my James O'Keefe fright mask and go scare traffic. By the way, are Boehlert and Breitbart twin sons of different mothers?
I fully concur. That's the reason why I always take time to mark the difference between the left — mostly made up of well-meaning people who propose their ideas out of genuine belief in their value — and the far left, who propose even more radical agendas, mostly out of self-interest.
You cannot educate an ideologue. You cannot educate the far left, nor can you honestly moderate their ideas.
Mainstream and moderate conservatives and liberals, however, recognize that their ideas moderate one another — it enables us to find civic consensus wherein genuine pluralism is possible.
The far left has no interest in pluralism — their primary concern is destroying any oppositon to their agendas of self-interest.
4 years? no! that just keeps the Dems in power. 15 years would be better.
You cannot educate an ideologue
That's why I so detest this brand of modern liberal. They aren't even ideologues. They're in it for power and money. If they actually believed they were doing good, I'd have at least some respect for them. But they don't.
They have even more disgust for the sheeple than the right does. I watched the clip on the blog the other day when he went up against Mr. B. on GMA I think it was.
I'm from the left, I can spot one of these guys a mile away. They turn my stomach.
Uh, that's Fox Nation, not Fox News. There is a difference. Completely different entities run by completely separate staffs.
It is part of the Fox News network, regardless of there being a different staff. Would you say that Fox Business or Fox Radio isn't part of Fox News?
Again, you are being dense on this. Do you REALLY think that Fox Nation programs the rest of Fox corporation? Hardly, in fact, the two hardly interact directly. Fox Nation is a side project, more like a blog, and not part of the main news operation. They react to what readers post and to what the righty blogosphere posts. But they have little influence with Fox News. Seriously, do you have ANY idea how corporations with many divisions work?
I don't recall where I said that Fox Nation programs the rest of Fox.
But yes, I am aware of how a corporate structure functions, and I am well aware of how a corporate news structure functions. The divisions go on and on, with each division generally making the decisions for themselves (general autonomy), without any interference from the upper levels. This does not change the fact that Fox Nation is part of the Fox News Network, and is the responsibility of Fox News. To me, this argument says that Fox News does not represent NewsCorp, because it has its own staff that runs it; it is a part of the organization. Regardless of their influence or anything else, they -are- a part of Fox News.
Again I ask, would you say that Fox Business or Fox Radio does not represent Fox News?
Doesn't anybody recognize a narrative when they see one? The whole "Fox News got Sherrod fired" thing is just another concerted journolista narrative. These people in the MSM know the truth, but they are not going to let the truth get out if they can have anything to do with it. It's time we stopped whining about the unfair MSM. Somehow we have to take this fight to the next level. Boycotts or something. Any suggestions?
Media DOESN'T Matter brought to you by George "BET AGAINST AMERICA" SOROS!
No George Soros does not fund Media Matters he does fund The Center for American Progress which was one of the largest of original funders of Media Matters which now funds itself by issuing political ideology news and policy research exclusively to further the Progressive Agenda. The organization describes itself as "a web-based, not-for-profit, progressive research and information center dedicated to comprehensively monitoring, analyzing, and correcting conservative misinformation in the U.S. media."
Know your enemies and there are MANY!
These dufuses should be dizzy or sore from all the spin and contortion.
So Boehlert of Media "Context" Matters, continues to fondle his moral relativist squeeze toy version of reality. He obviously is oblivious to the fact that noone besides Mrs. Jones third grade journalists can be fooled by his distortions.

I'm talking here about the United States congress.
Four years ago, here in the USA, Repubs controlled the Senate 55-45, and the House 233-201.
You need to write a book of Haikus, Mr.66.
Truly entertaining work.

Don't be fooled by the trolls, they are well organized, and all they want is you to reply to them give them -ve scores and increase their kudos in the newsroom that employs them, indeed bonuses are probably awarded. Where I come from they are called Berks, .. now theres a word that will take some researching for you to come up with its real meaning, anyone on this site with a score of -10 or less is a Berk!!!!
I'd pay to be his worst person in the world… for a day!
so am i….the US congress in 2006 was spending like drunken sailors and pushing amnesty….the GOP had a majority, but they were about to be hammered in the midterms….1995 would be better…they actually had some spending discipline
I'm shocked, shocked to find that misinformation fixing is going on in here!
Thank you for the kind words.
I'm glad somebody out there got that one, at least. Heh.
Have you ever compared the two sites – the handling of a given story? I did a paragraph-by-paragraph breakdown once – on the top/front "stories" on each (whatever was randomly there at that moment) – to shut some libtard up about Media Matters. I think he is still in the fetal position, sobbing.
The sites are night in day in terms of quality of data, relevance, and organization. You don't see any 1/2 quotes (out of context) on MRC.org. Mr. Bozell and his crew do a fine job.
Shirley Sherrod's kids are named Kenyatta and Russia…Ba Ha Ha
I concur. Despite how conservative my little home town is, many of my neighbors vote Democrat. Nonetheless, during the two times my husband was away in Iraq, they were beautiful neighbors and helpful when I needed it. Same with the moms at my younger daughters' pre-school.
And yes, I think there are those at the top that know the whole thing is BS and all they want to be is the next dictator. Evil to the core.
Many years ago I was one of those people. Until I saw the light and now I can watch the MSM news and just pick them apart for the ridiculous things they say with zero support! How they keep parroting the lies about the Tea Party, about the AZ immigration law! It's actually quite disgusting.
Tonight, on ABC World News they had a nice little sob story about how the AZ law would be going into effect soon and there was a big attrition going on there because of it. I mean, one guy says he's been in the country illegally for 14 years and that his children were born here but he was going to be leaving! I mean, he didn't appear to be a violent criminal, just a guy who has broken our immigration laws and likely our tax laws as well. But still, in 14 years the guy couldn't find his way to an immigration office and correct his mistake!
And there were other scare stories about the usual stuff – families getting broken up, kids probably put in the care of Child Protective Services, etc.
It was awful. Just awful. That's why I go to Fox so I can get some sanity!
You used "Media Matters" and "dishonest" in the same sentence. Just sayin'
At least they are showing some creativity instead of the usual 'you people are so stupid' or 'bush's fault'
It's the same as all those people you hear claiming that Rush Limbaugh is a racist and is "full of hate." That invariably comes from people who have never listened to him.
Have you ever compared the two sites – the handling of a given story?
No…I'm not that ambitious. It's a damn good thing people like yourself are, though.
I troll around most of the lefty sites, just because you need to know what the enemy is up to. Again, I'm not ambitious enough to actually register and mess with them. Maybe when I have more time on my hands.
And yes – MRC is a great site. Media (and the hi-jacking of the truth) being my obsession, I appreciate the lack of knee-jerk bullshit there.
For more international analysis, I like memri.org (Middle East Media Research Institute). Ever check them out? Real eye-opening stuff there.
