Most media-watching conservatives have simply been flabbergasted at how the Old Media establishment has so neatly come together to destroy Sarah Palin. The Internet has been abuzz with examples of this attack on Sarah since she was chosen by John McCain to be her number two during the campaign for the 2008 presidential election. Every day there is a new example of it and here is yet another one.
This time it was penned by a “TV critic” for the Washington Post named Lisa de Moraes. De Moraes is well known for constantly injecting left-wing asides into her work and her Nov. 19 attack on the Palins is no exception.
She misled her readers (all 20 of them, I’m sure) right off the bat with her snotty headline, “Sarah Palin tries to lure Bristol’s huge ‘DWTS’ audience to her far less popular TLC reality series.”
What is with this “her far less popular” epithet? This claim is not based in logic.
De Moraes went on with her accusatory rhetoric.
Sarah Palin hopes to lure her daughter Bristol’s 20 million viewers to her own, far less popular, reality TV series this coming Sunday:
“Ah yes…Bristol-the-diva! Silly critics! See her diva-ish-ness Sunday, ‘Sarah Palin’s Alaska’ 2 learn truth, before assuming. Thanks & enjoy!” Sarah Palin tweeted Thursday afternoon.
Of course her every word is but hatemongering, left-wing spin not based on any real truthful analysis of TV. After all, anyone with a basic grasp of the statistics of TV would understand that her sniping was simply not based in reality.
First of all the 20 million viewers that “Dancing With the Stars” gets are not “daughter Bristol’s 20 million viewers.” They are the viewers of the show that Bristol happens to be appearing on for this one season. So, de Moraes’s first snark is not based in truth.
Secondly, Sarah’s Tweet was but a good-natured poke at her own daughter, the sort of ribbing every healthy family indulges with each other. Sure it was an advertisement for her own TLC show, but critic de Moraes is more interested in imputing a darker meaning to the good-natured Tweet: jealousy.
The simple fact of the matter is that TLC’s cable channel does not attract the sort of viewing numbers that any of the old three TV networks attract. So Palin’s TLC show could never achieve the numbers that “Dancing With the Stars” or practically any other network TV show garners.
According to Nielson, for instance, the number of TV households across the country stood at 114.5 million for the 2008-2009 season and the big three appears on all of them. As it stands now, ABC, CBS and NBC rarely get less than an average of twenty million viewers a night of all shows combined on their network in primetime and DWTS got nearly 20 million last week all by itself.
For its part TLC appears in fewer homes than the big three. According to TLC the cable channel appears in 99 million American homes. For those counting that’s a difference of some 15 million fewer homes than the big three.
Another way to compare: for the week of Nov. 8 the top rated non-sports show was “Dancing with the Stars” with nearly 20 million viewers. Yet the top rated non-sports cable show was Nick@Nite’s “Spongebob Squarepants” with just a bit over six million viewers. Cable simply doesn’t come close to the viewers the big three networks get.
De Moraes tried to pretend she was a real critic by adding this:
While Sarah Palin’s new TLC reality series attracted TLC’s biggest series-debut audience ever, that amounted to only 5 million viewers — a tiny crowd compared to the 20-million-ish who have been watching this season of ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” on which her daughter has made it all the way to the finals. Because, no matter what people might say about cable TV taking over the universe, there’ s still nothing like a broadcast network for reaching a gigantic number of people.
Notice how de Moraess is trying to have it both ways? In one breath she is saying that Palin’s show is “far less popular” yet on the other saying that a cable show can’t possibly get the same numbers as a network TV show. So, even as she admits that trying to compare a cable audience to a broadcast TV audience is absurd, she still rests her entire snarky point on imagining that Sarah’s show is “far less popular” than “Dancing With the Stars.”
Still, “Sarah Palin’s Alaska” brought 5 million viewers for its debut episode, a smashing success for TLC. Even wth that success, for de Moraes to try to compare DWTS with Palin’s TLC show is idiotic. It’s apples to oranges… or apples to grizzlies at least. The fact is Sarah Palin’s show could be the most popular show on cable and still not get the numbers that the big three get. “Popularity” isn’t the proper measuring stick and de Moraes knows it.
So, what do we have here? We have a supposed TV critic misleading readers into thinking that Palin’s TLC show is “far less popular” than the show her daughter appears on, we get a TV critic discounting the massive numbers of 5 million viewers Palin did get by presenting that stat as somehow incidental when it is nothing short of amazing, and we get a TV critic trying to paint the momma grizzly as somehow jealous of her cub’s success on DWTS.
This “TV column” is not a reporting on TV. It is a ham-handed, cynical attempt to mislead readers into thinking ill of Sarah Palin, painting her in a bad light, and misconstruing the facts in the attempt.

Sour grapes make a bitter whine.
I'll be watching Palin's show again tonight.
5 million viewers on TLC. Enough said. MARXIST=DEMOCRATS=TERRORIST All the same. Let's see how many Leftist Loons we can get to shoot their TVs.
Sorry MSM, Sarah is like the Everyready bunny, she keeps going and going. ;0) PALIN in 2012, Lets make Sherriff Arpio the DHS Secretary, and Ted Nugent Secretary of Defense.
Shouldn't TV Critic Lisa de Moraes be telling us which episodes of "Love Boat" are her favorites instead of dumping on Sarah?
Can't wait to see America's First Family (the Palins) again tonight on TLC.
And, by the way, the caption photo of Sarah is absolutely gorgeous! Thanks for posting it.
MSM journalists are now writing for each other, not the general public.
How many of those who call Sarah Palin an idiot could gather enough signatures to run for a seat on their local school board, let alone get themselves elected governor of a state? She accomplished that long before any of us in the lower 48 ever heard of her.
I wouldn't ever expect anything BUT lefty-laden-BS from the regular wapo writers, in anything they print.
Thus, I'm surprised they even print Dr. Krauthammer's column's.
You know, I'm beginning to think Sarah Palin is nothing short of being a stone cold genius. She's effectively instituting a slow…drip, drip drip…Chinese Water Torture on the MSM and it is driving them nuts! Watching the morning MSM gabfests, the conversations keep leading back to Sarah. Oh, they are condescending and snarky, but, nevertheless, they are talking about her as if she is one of the Four Horseman of the Apocalyspe…and they keep talking….and talking…
The more they talk about her lack of intelligence and chops, the more brilliant she appears.
I say keep it Old Stream Media, Palin gets more popular with every poke you take at her. No one likes a bully and most folks cheer for an underdog. Of course that's too simple a thing to understand for people as smart and sophisticated as the Moldy Old Stream Media bunch. I'm sure that's why Obama is so popular with them, because as Blowhard Joe Biden say's, Barrack is so smart that us common folk don't understand him. Great Joe, why don't you and Barrack take your elitist communist friends and your media lap dogs and go start your own country. Ya know, show us boobs how its done.
Sarah Palin is a leader.
The sick Left is simply jealous and fearful of Sarah…
She is everything they are not… competent, patriotic, and virtuous (with a sense of humor)..
That's probably the most accurate and profound observation I've seen posted in a week on here MJK. Do you think those elitist tools in the MSM even realize it? I doubt it, they're probably all too busy giving kudos to each other when they're actually just doing the same thing we're all doing here.
Only difference is, we're not wasting ink and killing trees to do it.
Maybe they could start a country with 57 states where everyone will speak Austrian.
I don't the old media knows they make her stronger with every attack.
And who watches their propaganda crap anymore?
"While Sarah Palin’s new TLC reality series attracted TLC’s biggest series-debut audience ever, that amounted to only 5 million viewers " Lisa De Moreass
That would only be about FOUR TIMES larger than the viewers for THE DAILY SHOW with unfunny shill Stewart.
I bet Lisa De MOREASS thinks Stewart's show is really successful though. The one with about 3.7 million LESS viewers than Palin..
Relevant regarding Sarah Palin in line with her support of Alaskan Senatorial candidate Miller, here is some news http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/11/19/federa... .
Firstly, "Old Media" doesn't undermine Sarah Palin because every time they attack her, it backfires. What they do is underestimate her, and the average American (Which is why, "Old Media" ratings and circulation numbers are turds circling in a toilet). Secondly, the rule of blogging is to attack up and ignore down in terms of status: This de Moraes character – who I have never, ever heard of until just now – is way beneath your station, Warner. Don't waste any more time on her, because it just gives her more search engine hits (That she doesn't deserve).
It is difficult for snakes to hide their venom, and Lisa de Moraes is no exception.
I think your on to something there. Makes me happy. ;0)
Lisa de Moraes ,I will forget that name as soon as I sip my second cup of coffee and click on another story at the bigs, I'll remember Sarah Palin for a long, long time.
"State law calls for write-in ballots to have the oval filled in and the candidate's last name or name as it appears on their declaration of candidacy written."
People that are too stupid to understand that rule shouldn't be allowed to vote anyway, eh Cowboy?
It's already been done. What do you think the U.S.S.R. and the Peoples Republic was all about? With over 100 million murdered by their own governments. We boobs just don't get it. We are just not smart enough to appreciate their brilliance.
This is pretty similar to hard core sports fans of a specific team, when another team you really hate either beats you or wins the championship. You try to find some reason why the win really wasn't that impressive or how the other team somehow managed to cheat to win. That's what you're seeing with the left right now, whether it's Lisa's review of Sarah's show or the conspiracy theorists howling about Bristol making the finals on "Dancing With the Stars". It hurts them too much to admit any success by the Palins, so they try to come up with any excuse why it's not really a success, and end up looking bitter and petty in the process.
Or move to Flor-i-duh……

Americans are awakening again to the wisdom of… that sweet old lady at the Boston Tea Party rally holding up a copy of the Constitution: "When All Else Fails, Read the Instructions."
When we take the time to actually read them, the instructions for America are pretty straightforward. They are the truths of our founding and more. They are the principles that have made our country great-keeping our government limited, our markets free, and our families strong. But the thing is, these principles, like all fundamental human truths, are not self-reinforcing. They have to be remembered, cherished, and taught to new generations of Americans.
''A genuine leader is not a searcher for consensus but a molder of consensus." Martin Luther King, Jr.
Thanks for your kind words.
Turn on the TV and on every channel you will see women portrayed as helples victims – being shot, beaten, sexually assaulted, etc. I think at the very core, what bugs the MSM the most is Sarah Palin is not a victim.
I think all of us making comments should go to Ms. deMoraes page and let her know that we're watching Sarah tonight… wasn't there a SNL segment that showed a "news" commentator with the character of Gilda Radner and she would finish the last line with "…bitch…"?
I think she's a fan of Jersey Shores if not one of the stars
Come on Mr. Spooky Dude can't you do any better than this ten year old little putz?
lol
Anyone recall the leaked JounoList conversation the night after her acceptance speech? You know the one where the Lefties (euphemistically called 'journalists') decided #1 she was an electrifying speaker #2 they had to destroy her by mocking her. This is just what Oldphoto is attempting to do here. Pay the moron no mind as we know the Truth and the Bozo is terrified.
2012 is right around the corner Oldphoto with 20 Democrat Senate seats up for grabs and the Presidency – hee, hee hee!
I wanted to keep it on Silly Sarah's level.
"How The Old Media Constantly Undermines Sarah Palin"
Let me fix that for you.
How The Old Media Constantly Tries To Undermine Sarah Palin
That's better.
These people who live in the NY bubble are in for a rude awakening one of these days, they think the whole world revolves around them,I guess they won't get a clue until they wake up one day to see the barbed wire fence around Lefty ville and the only TV program they will be able to watch is constant reruns of Escape from New York.
First things First**How OLD are you "Oldphoto 678" You have to stop drinking that ZOMBIE juice-switch ti Gin. There is an article that I would like you to read. (First of all you have to go to US for Palin.com. "Palin's search traffic 6X GREATER than TOP 4 2012 hopefuls COMBINED++dated Nov 20,2010) It is by the N0#1 Zombie paper***The New York Times. THIS WOMEN IS ONLY A HOUSEWIFE AND MOTHER, she is in your head-you can't talk or walk without thinking of her. As far as Bristol**she dances a hell of lot better then Emmitt Smith (I'm a Dallas Cowboy fan since the Ice Bowl of 67) he won because of impoving every week and being a member of America's Team. Bristol is doing the same and she just so happens to be the daughter of America's Mom. Get ready for the ALL THE ZOMBIES to come out of the woodwork Tues, and when Sarah say's either I will or I do*NON-STOP UNTIL SHE GET'S THE KEY TO DC*
Palin does not fake it. She is real.
What? The Old Media (run by a variety of globalist fruitcakes) LOVE Palin. They created her. There are tons of REAL conservatives that they won't even mention in the media. They have put Palin in the spotlight NON-STOP. Only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about in THAT GAME (and I stress "game".) They are only creating characters to manipulate you with. They are puppets. They see this like an opera.
Exactly.
Sarah Palin would be a footnote in the history books if it were not for the Old Media turning her into a celebrity with their constant barrage of venom. She would be long gone. Now she may be POTUS one day and the old media have no one to blame for it but themselves.
I believe your right. They don't like anyone that doesn't NEED their help. That's not the way it's supposed to work.
yepp yepp
I'm a reformed moderate/lib from the 08 election. The more I see Sarah the more I love her. She's awesome. We are not able to watch tonight but its on my dvr.
I am a conservative (basically, a hawkish libertarian), and I do not care for Palin. If she runs in 2012, she has my vote. In my opinion, she is not presidential. I think Michelle Bachmann should be getting more attention that Palin, as well as Colonel Alan West.
The MSM isn't the only ones targeting her. Have you seen the recent statements by George Will, Karl Rove, Michael Medved and Krauthammer? I heard shortly after the election the establishment GOP is going to make an attempt to take out Sarah Palin. This appears to be whats going on.
I see attacks, but they are not working. Mrs Palin is one of those people who is able to rise above the pettiness. Smiling and secure in the knowledge of who she is, she continues to refudiate (The Oxford Dictionary has officially accepted this portmanteau) the jealous so-called journalists.
I think that just being herself is frustrating to the leftists. They don't understand true leadership.
I agree. How can you not respect the woman? She's getting if from all sides, liberal and conservatives alike, and yet she seems to thrive on it. It appears the prospect of Sarah Palin getting elected is frightening to both sides of the old guard. I like her, but I have to admit the best part of Palin getting elected would be the earthquake it would cause in liberal precincts, especially in the media. Having to refer to her as President Palin everyday of their professional lives for at least four years would be a delight to watch.
What I really enjoy, is when everybody, all the Obamacrats, the radical far left Liberal Media, same for Hollywood, even the Republican Party Establishment Elitist Bush RINO's, who all attack Gov. Sarah Palin, and she still manages to Win and Prevail, and overcome those tremendous odds against her. This is how a TrailBlazer in life, who fights the good fight against cynicism, apathy, complacency, and especially the Evil that is now destroying this Great Nation, becomes a Great Figure in US History, like Abraham Lincoln, and Dr. MLK Jr., and Ghandi. All have fought tremendous odds against them, and have prevailed and won the fight. This is when greatness is bestowed upon them, and not until then.!!
I just can't wait til 6 Nov. 2012, when she becomes the Nation's 45th President of the United States of America, and the first Woman to ever hold the Nation's highest office.!!!
I can't wait to see all these Facist Liberal Palin Hate Mongers, Obamacrats and Republicans alike, implode..!!!
I have been a Tea Party participant this past two years and I meet a lot of independents at events. Their attitude in my small portion of the USA is definitely changing. Several of my friends who in the past said they would never vote for Palin have watched the two episodes of Sarah Palin's Alaska so far and they are more than impressed.
One friend, a gentleman, called me last night astonished by the latest view of Alaska and Sarah's devotion to her family. He said he understood for the first time what the term "Momma Grizzly"meant. He thought the Press was trying to use that term as a slam against Sarah and he said it was a miserable "fail" for them [the press]. He has become a Palin supporter. This is how she will win. One convert at a time.
P.S. a special note to Lisa M. in Alaska. After Sarah's series finishes and tourism in Alaska takes off as never before, the view of Sarah to people in her state may be a bit different. With this series, Sarah has shown the work ethic of everyday Alaskans. You have to work hard in a state with all the vast resources produced there. 60% of domestic seafood comes from Alaska. Elite, privileged people may have pulled vast sums of money to Alaska over the years through earmarks, but Lisa, sweetie, those days are gone. I liked to see Murkowski go commercial fishing and have the guts to touch fish guts. Ms. Murkowski couldn't cut bait….
The old media as you call it…….controled the news…they help put who they wanted in the White House…….this lady is not going away, infact she will be the news medias worst nightmare along with 3/4 of America……..the old days are over, shes not going away, period. The more they scream and make complete fools of themselves the more we like this lady.
Yeah ya kept it right off the blog!
HAAAAHAAAAAAAAAA
Hey, you do understand that when you get enough -'s, you get escorted out the door, right?
Enjoy the immature troll bizz while you can Socialist.
Not that the networks would allow it, but if Palin got 5 million viewers on TLC, imagine the numbers she would've gotten had she been on network television with the marketing and draw that brings. That seems to be the real story to me.
Moreover DWTS has been running for 5 years (11 seasons) and has built up its fan base over time. Sarah Palin's show is a limited run show just starting off. In fact, for all of DWTS prowess at attracting viewers over the years (I don't get it myself), its very first show started off with a 9.4 share according to Nielsen, which translates to around 15 million households. And this from a network show with all the power and draw it has.
Palin, conversely, got 5 million viewers on a decidedly much smaller cable program. As I said, had she appeared on network TV, the draw might have been magnitudes larger.
Rich
and you know what is REALLY funny?
This attempt at denigrating her is not only NOT working. it makes more people take a look at her and then they support her. If she gets the GOP nomination in 2012, she will cause such an excited Conservative turnout, the GOP down ticket wins will be record breaking!
Show you how stupid the Socialists and GOP establishment are. If they would just ignore her, she will not have the supporters she will have in two years!
And all the libbies that SAY they want her to run yet cut her down are idiots. If you actually WANT her to run, you would not denigrate her. At the very least, say nothing, at the most, build her up so she will run and lose id you REALLY believe that!.
Problem is, it's too late, now. If she wins the primary, she will win the Election.
First woman President will be a Conservative. History making.
Watch and see. I don't mind a bit when I read a Socialist whining about the Palin Boogey under their bed!
Indeed — and there's this: Whether or not the GOP taps Palin as its nominee for any post in 2012, she's already lured the media into revealing its malice and its emptiness in a single stroke. Whatever presidential candidate the Republican Party might select, he'll have a Palin-powered tailwind, specifically because of her exertions and the media's vicious vacuity toward her.
So why should anyone (and I notice you said "he'll") benefit from Palin's taking all the slings and arrows?
Why shouldn't she be the one to benefit from all the hard, painful work she's done over the past 2 years?
Why should a cowardly male step in to reap the benefits of all her laborious and sacrificial work?
It seems to me she's been through the "trial by fire" that none of the men have been through; and that's a great school for the American presidency.
I don't disagree. I'd love to see the GOP nominate Palin for President. But even if it fails to do that, Palin will have built a bonfire for whoever it picks — fueled in large part by the derision of her media adversaries.
(Yes, I said "he'll." The generic singular pronouns — that is, the ones we're supposed to use when the back-referent could be a person of either sex — are "he," "him," and "his." I have not bowed to the gender-war harridans; I refuse to say "he or she," "him or her," or "his or hers." I prefer to remain a speaker of grammatically correct and acceptably elegant English.)
Every hit on Palin enhances her image in the eye of the public and lowers their estimate of the abusers.
The more they try to undermine her the smaller they become and the larger she gets.
You can't teach an old dog anything.
But it's not generic … that's the problem with English. The Romance languages do differentiate by gender.
Are you a male? Would you like to be constantly referred to as "she" and "her" and to be told that "it's just understood" that that includes men and boys?
And to be told you're a "gender-war harridan" for not wanting to constantly be hidden under the all-encompassing male gender pronoun?
I'm not a harridan, but I suspect it is not historically inaccurate to say that the reason the male pronoun came to be used as the "generic" pronoun is precisely because women and children didn't count – unless they were attached to a male.
And in this specific case, ALL of the current 2012 contenders are male … and that is not by accident.
There is indeed a Good Ol' Boys Network, that is VERY powerful in both parties' political machines.
Hence Clinton's shellacking by the Dem GOB party; and the attempted shellacking of Sarah Palin going on now to even prevent her from running.
So it is very significant that you used "he" both in general and in this specific case.
Palin has been fighting this Good Ol' Boy Network at every level of government. And apparently will even be fighting it to even have a chance to run at all.
She is not merely a cheerleader clearing a path and warming up the crowd for the Boys to take the field. That is a condescending attitude being thrown at her by The Powers That Be … and many commenters.
Whine is very popular with the left. The especially like the 2000 through 2008 vintage.
I speak English, and I'll go on doing so, exactly as I've done for some 58 years to date. If you'd prefer to speak some other language, that's your option. Of course, fewer people will understand you, but all things have their price.
If "she, her, and "hers" were the generic convention, it wouldn't bother me. And yes, I'm male. But I'm not "a male;" I'm a man.
"Gender-war harridan" is what I call those who insist that, by hewing to a long-established semantic convention, taught in grammar schools in every English-speaking country, I'm somehow demeaning women. Does that describe your attitude?
With reference to the above…
People who constantly say or write "he or she," "him or her," and so forth aren't adding any meaning to their statements; they're merely garbling their English in the hope they won't be taken to task by some PC type for having dared to "exclude" or "marginalize" women. If that's your preference, go right ahead. I prefer to speak and write as if I know what I mean and know how to express it. I've never had a problem making myself understood; those who claim not to understand me are either mentally subnormal, and should go elsewhere for their conversation, or PC verbiage enforcers, whom I hold in contempt.
Choose according to your tastes.
Old media is doing what it would do to any outspoken conservative and they don't really have an effect. The GOP elite like Wills, Rove, Krauthamer, do hurt her tremendously. In fact I believe that the internal politics in the GOP make it a bad idea for her to run. They can and will undermine her and Barry will be around till 2016.
Yep, and for years Negro was the accepted term; do you still use Negro?
Just because something has been done for years, and maybe for whole lifetimes, doesn't mean it's correct.
For almost 150 years, women didn't have the vote; guess we shouldn't have changed that either, because, you know it was taught in grammar schools for more than a century.
And slaves were considered a fraction of a person for decades, too, why did we ever change that, anyway? After all, it was taught in schools for several generations.
I don't know what the solution is for the English language, but English – as all languages are – is an evolving language and simply saying "that's the way I was taught for my whole life" is not helpful.
That kind of thinking led to the War Between the States, which was a totally unnecessary and tragically wasteful time in our history.
Some practices/semantics have been done/used for a long time, that doesn't make them correct …
But I'm glad to know you wouldn't mind being understood to be included in womankind and herstory and in enjoying whoever becomes the next president, whoever she is, whether it's Romney, Pawlenty, Huckabee, or Palin.
Again, I'm not sure what the solution will be, but just saying "that's the way it is and it's never going to change" is close-minded and not helpful. Do your Negro friends mind that you still call them Negroes?
"…do you still use Negro?" Yes, I do, when speaking of Negroes in general. It's the technical racial designation: "Mongolian" rather than "Oriental;" "Caucasian" rather than "white," and "Negro" rather than "black." Just in case your education is as deficient as your manners, "black" was once abandoned for "Negro" because the former term was considered derogatory. Just like "colored."
"But I'm glad to know you wouldn't mind being understood to be included in womankind and herstory…" Gee, how pleased I am to have your approval. I must remember to tell my wife.
"Do your Negro friends mind that you still call them Negroes?" There must be something seriously wrong with you; I call "my Negro friends" by their respective names.
Your obsession with the way I speak suggests that you have nothing important to occupy your time. Have you considered getting a hobby?
PLEASE make Mooselini your candidate in 2012, GOP. I DARE you.I DOUBLE-DARE you.
Her defeat will make FDR-Landon or LBJ-Goldwater look like photo finishes by comparison, and the Republican Party will disintegrate in the aftermath.
I'm rude? That's rich.
I believe you threw the first (and only, I have called you no names) insult of "harridan."
And you never did address the point of just how the purveyors of the English language back in the day decided to allow male pronouns and masculine words to come to do double duty for both genders.
The reason I brought it up in the first place is because I believe the same attitude that made that decision is the same attitude that is going on in the Party Machines of both major political parties To This Very Day.
The Dems Good Ol' Boy Network allowed Obama to commit fraud and Chicago thuggery in their primaries in order to prevent Clinton from being their nominee. Why? Clinton and Obama have basically the same policies. That same attitude also prevented them from making the obvious choice of offering Clinton the Vice Presidency.
And the Repubs Good Ol' Boy Network uses terms like "spunk," "energy," "rallies our base," etc., to describe Palin. But when it comes to actually running they say things like "she's not a serious human being" (Romney operatives), she doesn't have "gravitas" (Rove), and "let's have a serious talk about health care – and start by asking Sarah Palin to leave the room" (Krauthammer).
The Good Ol' Boy Network message seems to be that Sarah Palin is a great cheerleader and fund raiser, but when it's time for the Real Game, she needs to step aside for the Serious Boys to come in and take the field.
The point is valid, and your calling me names and insulting me does not change it. Address the substance of the points. As to my education, I have a B.A. in Communications and am a Production Editor for a business publisher.
To conclude, this is my own issue, not Governor Palin's. She has never made an issue of what you call political correctness as it applies to gender language. She regularly uses male pronouns and masculine terms to refer to both genders in her speeches, articles, OpEds, and Facebook notes.
So I am not advancing any language argument that Palin has ever made. It's not her issue. She's concerned with much more important issues, for which I'm grateful.
I don't believe It's the president's job to address such things. As Palin puts it, "physical and fiscal security" are the primary issues of the executive branch of the federal government.
I appreciate her priorities.
But this is an obscure comment board on a website read by a few thousand folks, so I've chosen to have the discussion here as an exercise in debating. I occasionally have this debate in other places online as well.
But I am not a militant haridan running a Movement to change the language. I do believe it will change over time … and it may take a female president to help that process along.
Not consciously by Palin saying anything about it – but just through the actions of a competent and authoritative female commander in chief, head of state, etc.
On that note, please don't relate our disagreement on this language issue to Palin; again, these are my thoughts, not hers. I'm 100% sure this issue will have nothing to do with her platform should she run.
What you are, dear, is an obsessive. Or a Sapir-Whorf absolutist. Perhaps both.
"[Y]ou never did address the point of just how the purveyors of the English language back in the day decided to allow male pronouns and masculine words to come to do double duty for both genders."
Because I'm unconcerned with it. I have no responsibility for the process by which the convention came about. Neither do I have any desire to change it, though it appears that you do. I use the established conventions of the English language, as best I know them. I will not bend to the ungainly, mouth-filled-with-marbles locution you prefer, out of your crabbed feminist ideology.
Your conduct here suggests that you need professional help. I hope you get it. Now, if you like, you can have the last word. I've expended enough of my time on you, and I have a novel to complete.
Glenn Beck for Sec. of State? Rush Limbaugh for Ambassador to the U.N.?
the possibilities for mayhem are endless…..
Palin has to be demonized by the MSM because she is a threat to the left.
The MSM is for liberals, by liberals. It's their job!
They used to call Colin Powell an Uncle Tom and porch negro. Now he's a "good negro" because he endorsed Obama. It's all about Liberal Supremacy even though they're in the minority by far.
.
Several questions:
1. If this critic only has 20 readers, what do you care what shes says? Unless you're "constantly injecting" right-wing asides into your work by falsely diminishing her number of readers.
2. It seems to me if TLC is in 99 million homes, there was plenty of opportunity for Ms. Palin to attract more than 5 million viewers. Why didn't she?
3. Did you not want report that Ms. Palin lost almost half her viewers on week two?
Your link is broken. I checked because I was curious about a conservative think tank that published statistics that contradicts a lot of evidence that lower taxes doesn't have the effect on the economy that conservatives think it does.
My apologies.

NOTHING liberal scum say is based in reality, they are devoid of reason; to expect reason from them is like expecting a chimp to build a space craft.
